So Roman Reigns is refusing to turn face.
I say that's his business, but my concern is HHH desiring to bring back The Rock to face Roman following Vince's original plan. I say that should not happen. My guy is 50. If you want him so badly, let him come and host it, but we don't want another old veteran to give us a bad match or get injured. I like Rocky, but he should retire. WWE on the other hand should build a competent hand to possibly take the strap from the World champ and this isn't even the hard part, it's just common sense, but no one seems to look towards that direction.

I get it. Pro-wrestling is part entertainment and I'm all for it. But "part" is a sign that it shouldn't work like full entertainment. Keep the 'storylines' away. Keep the 'gimmicks' away. Just present to us a simple 'good guy' vs 'bad guy' match and we're good. Any other thing done outside of this template will make the product look bad, and we've seen that over the years.

Let’s talk Raw!

Psycho II
I’m only putting this here because I’m really confused about this thing between Miz & Dexter Lumis. So much so that I might wax poetic and go a little long, so bear with me.
Dexter’s pursuit of Miz is going on for about a month now. And we’re no closer to a resolution, a motivation, or even a hint at some semblance of logic. Dexter kidnapped Miz multiple times—not a sentence I ever imagined typing—and all we know is Miz doesn’t want to talk about any of it, nor did he press charges. But we also know WWE is telling us it’s okay to cheer a psychopath kidnapping someone who, as far as we know, did nothing to deserve it. Grant it, I’m not sure what one does to ever deserve getting snatched up in public, but I’m also a bit of a Boy Scout.
Anyway, this entire thing reached peak weird this week. WWE’s cameras interviewed Miz in his house because he says it’s the only way they’ll get him on Raw at the moment for obvious reasons. Before the interview really starts, Miz and Maryse’s daughters hit the room and show love to their papi. Which is adorable and relatable, right? Of course it is. Then Maryse shows up and we see Miz not only being a good dad but a great husband as well. So...yeah, the heel looks like a good dude.
The only “sin” he commits is being rude to the camera crew the nanosecond they mention Dexter. Miz and Maryse make their way to the exits as they have an event to get to, leaving the kids and telling the camera crew that security will escort them out. Miz even holds the door for his wife.
I’m not being rude to anyone is cool, but it’s a little different when you perceive someone disrespects you in your own house. So, again, I’m on Miz’s side here.
But then WWE made it extra weird.
As Miz and Maryse pull off and head to their destination, the camera pans back to the a window. Inside the house, inside the same living room Miz sat in for the interview, is Dexter freaking Lumis. Not only is he home alone in a house with two very young children, but he drew a picture of Miz, Maryse, and their daughters.
I’m sorry...what?!
This is the guy I’m supposed to cheer for here? He’s the good guy? So if a psychotic stalker invaded your home, that’s a good thing? Of course not! It’s never a good thing. Even worse, he’s home alone with two little kids. And he’s...the good guy?
I know Miz is a jerk but WWE partially upends that narrative when they show him being a fine family man. And they certainly undercut it when they show a psycho not only stalking him, but his wife and two children. The fact Graves was the only one voicing this on commentary while Byron Saxton and Jimmy Smith basically told him he’s bugging is just brings home that point.
None of it makes sense as a critic. And as a viewer, it confuses me, which makes me not really care. Miz might be a bad guy but he never stalked someone, invaded their home, and potentially put their kids in danger. He has lines he won’t cross while Dexter, a certified psycho, clearly doesn't.
But he’s the babyface.
Make it make sense, WWE, and do it fast.

Extracurriculars
Papi Got What She Wanted
We got moments during Raw where Rey Mysterio tried playing peacemaker. He begged Dominik not to wrestle Edge. He pleaded with Edge not to wrestle Dom, someone Edge sees as a nephew. Rey even played the dad card, something Edge understood and showed sympathy toward. But Dom said he wanted the match and Edge isn’t one to disappoint. Rey relented and with Rhea by his side, Dom came to the ring ready to get his whooping.
Dom actually held his own against Edge. I’m talking as a wrestler, not within the story. Dom didn’t wow me but he didn’t embarrass himself either. Edge led the way and they knew the assignment: Create a match where Dom is playing way above his level, has a few moments where he gets the old man on his back, but is ultimately undone by his lack of experience and the fact that Edge is in the hall of fame.
It was at that exact moment where the match turned the story evolved. Edge had Dom on the ropes, literally, tied up and at his mercy. He screamed that this is what Dom wanted and what he asked for. Before he even got in his kill shot, Rey hit the ring and stood between his friend and his son. That little distraction was just enough to bring out the rest of the Judgment Day, who quickly dismissed Rey and worked on Edge’s already hurt knee.
Finn’s coup de grace off the top rope onto Edge’s leg while said leg sat suspended on a chair was a good visual and showed just how far they’re willing to go. Dom found a new family; one who believes in him and has Rhea Ripley.
They gotta sell this knee injury with Edge because the attack looked vicious. If that’s the case, I’m not sure how Rey succeeds in eradicating the group and wrestling back his son from the dark side. This is still my favorite story on Raw and each week, they find another way make it even more human and relatable.

New Champs, Who Dis?
Let’s not waste time here: Damage CNTRL got the W that alluded them a couple weeks ago. Kai-N-SKY are now the Women’s tag team champs. All is right in the world.
There wasn’t much match to speak of because it was a really quick one. Aliyah took the pin so to protect Raquel Rodriquez, so we’ll see what happens to them down the line.

Move, B*tch
WWE did something pretty cool this week. When Matthew Riddle showed up during Seth Rollins’ promo, he looked like a desperate man begging for attention. Seth and Corey Graves peeped game early and were spot on when they said there’s no reason for a rematch between Seth and Riddle. Riddle loss fair and square, so him wanting another match isn’t reason enough to give him one.
As a viewer, I sided with them because it made no sense. Especially when Riddle was kinda acting like the heel in this situation. Running up in Seth’s face and throwing punches while Seth is minding his own business when, again, there’s no real reason other than you taking an L, is a bad guy move.
But then we got the Judgment Day intervening on behalf of no one. They issued Riddle an invitation to join them in fife and possibly join Rhea’s harem. Bro said “nah” so we got a match between Finn and the Original Bro no one says no to joining a harem.
And it was a damn fine match. These two have really good chemistry and handle their business extremely well together. I like the idea of Riddle battling the Judgment Day with a compelling story behind it. But of course, Seth interrupted just to stop Riddle from getting a win. And that was the moment when I turned on Matt vs. Seth because Seth finally gave a reason for a rematch. Involving himself in this match just for giggles and torment his old opponent who didn’t even ask for it? Yeah, now there’s true motivation for a match. Even if one can argue it’s just getting revenge but meh. Seth was a jerk in this case and deserves punishment for this one.
Now I’m onboard. Fine job, gentleman.

Wrestling FTW
Johnny Gargano wrestled his first match on Raw. His opponent? Chad Gable, who is the perfect dance partner for anyone really, but certainly someone like Johnny. Their wrestling match was the equivalent of whoever has the ball last wins.
Johnny had the ball last. This is probably the best way to introduce him to a large television audience: Illustrating why they nicknamed him Johnny Wrestling. Just put him in great matches with great opponents and build to this eventual clash with Austin Theory. Theory is a heat magnet at this point so they don’t need to do a lot of this, but also not too little. Find the sweet spot where he can showcase over enough quality cats and then figure out who wins between he and Theory. Theory made it clear this week he has all the smoke for his former papi figure. If anyone can bring fire out of Johnny, it’s Austin.

Speaking of Which...
That same Austin Theory once again found himself on Kevin Owens’ bad side. Although, to be honest, KO probably only has bad sides.
We eventually got the pull apart brawl but before that, KO explained why people like him and Gargano are necessary in wrestling while cats like Theory are a dime a dozen. To hear KO tell it, history is littered with men who are built like Theory and look like him who flamed out and became footnotes or cautionary tales. KO challenged him to truly be the future of WWE by checking his ego and outworking everyone rather than accepting things just getting handed to him. Theory responded with a muscle flex and an acknowledgement that KO and Gargano will never look like him and never be him. And then, yeah, a fight.
KO’s on fire right now and everyone he works with is better served being in his orbit. This was an entertaining segment carried by KO.

A Rerun
Bianca Belair defended her title against Sonya Deville as part of the champ’s open challenge. Clean match, fine match, but nothing exciting because I knew all roads lead to Bayley. Sure enough, once Bianca pinned Sonya, Damage CNTRL’s leader came to the ring and mocked the champ. And just like last week, Bayley talked about Bianca’s ego and said she and Bianca will wrestle...eventually. Which is exactly what she last week. The only wrinkle was Dakota & IYO jumping Bianca while Alexa Bliss & Asuka came to her rescue.
Meh. This is the same basic beat we got last week, so the storyline is just running in place. I’m not sure what they can do with a heel who seemingly doesn't want a championship match more than the champ wants to defend her title. It’s a weird angle to play, especially for a former champ in Bayley who believes the division was in shambles without her. This segment didn’t do anything for me.

Well...
Omos squashed two dudes again. Stacked them on top of each other. Not the finest way to spend a few minutes of three hours on a Monday night.

Raw was weird this week. We got several good matches mixed in with a squash, some table setting for next week, and then just stuff that didn’t work for me at all. Mixed is the best way to describe my emotions on this one, although next week looks promising. Assuming nothing crazy happens in the world, we’ll get there in one piece.

so the rumours are true that KO eviscerated Theory. He(Theory) has been on a mean streak and it's been going downhill. I mentioned it initially and you still disagree, saying he's the future. Tor.

ofcourse. That's not what every other person is saying though. They are saying it was one-sided. It's fine anyway. But don't be surprised if nothing much comes out of him in the future, he ruined it by sabotaging himself in the now.

WWE NXT REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

Going Solo
When Solo Sikoa entered NXT’s Florida arena, I rolled my eyes. Not because I dislike the guy; I like him a lot. I just didn’t envision Solo beating Carmelo Hayes for the North American championship. I mean, the guy is on SmackDown and runs with the Bloodline. Why would he have this championship?
Well, color me shocked because we have a new North American championship. The longterm story NXT fell into is the fact Solo called his shot months ago. How many times did he say he had next? How many times was that coronation derailed? The minute he showed up at Clash at the Castle, it seemed like “next” might happen on bluer pastures rather than the 2.0 brand.
The irony here is Melo did it to himself. The fans picked Wes Lee as his opponent. Melo and Trick assaulted Wes, putting him out of action. If you got your head smashed between a locker door, you might need a full timeout too. If not for Melo’s attitude and belief that Wes—and the fans—are beneath him, then he doesn’t face Solo. If he doesn’t face Solo, then he doesn’t lose that championship. It’s a fitting conclusion to a story that started about a year ago when Trick told Melo to stop pandering to the fans and caring about what they think and who they think he should be. Melo talked that talk and believed that ish for a year, only to see it all come crashing down as a result of that mentality.
Solo and Melo, obviously, put on a compelling match. Melo worked Solo’s bad knee while Trick did what he normally does on the outside. But Solo neutralized Williams long enough with a superkick once he found his second wind. Once Trick was out of the picture, Melo had no reprieve against Solo’s onslaught. One big Flying Solo later, and the new North American champ resides on SmackDown.
Great end to Melo’s yearlong story and it makes that title a lot more interesting now that it’s on Friday nights. Will Solo defend it on Fridays? Will he come back to Tuesdays? What happens to Melo and Trick? So many questions and great hooks for next week and possibly the next year of television. This wasn’t a great show but the first match and the main event delivered.

Extracurriculars
No, Boy
There’s something about the Creed Bros. and Pretty Deadly. These two teams make beautiful music together because they’re so different. Pretty Deadly is all about finesse, flair, and a little finagling. The Creeds are brute force personified. Mix those chemicals in a cage and you get a dope opening match for the NXT’s unified tag team championships.
These two teams beat the life out of each other. The cage is a perfect environment for the Bros. Creed. We got several Brutus Bombs from every angle of the cage. Julius used the cage as a weapon on multiple occasions. And they decided the best course of action was beating Pretty Deadly into submission.
Pretty Deadly got their licks in too. The biggest move from them, besides the win, was a double superplex from the tippy top of the cage. But, again, this was all about the Creeds, continuing the story that Pretty didn’t actually earn the title and just got lucky. That luck continued this week when Damon Kemp walked to the ring and handcuffed Julius to the top of the cage.
Brutus gave us several hope spots, beating back the Pretty boys as long as possible. And he looked great going down in defeat. It took not one but two Spilt Milks to put him away. Pretty Deadly walked away as paper champions again, while Kemp reveled in his chicanery. I hope he finds himself a partner because two vs. one doesn’t put the odds in his favor.

YEE HAW, BITCH
This wasn’t quite a squash match, but Fallon Henley easily defeated Lash Legend. While I questioned the quickness of the match and the W, it made sense later when Fallon clashed with Mandy Rose. Fallon isn’t afraid of Mandy and said they can can settle this like grown women or they can get into some gangster sh*t. Yee haw, b*tch.

The Fire Rises
But before we get to that, Alba Fyre stepped into Mandy’s world and interrupted Toxic Attraction’s victory lap. To paraphrase Rah Digga, Alba beat those women with a bat.
Alba and Mandy seemed destined to do this for a while but I’m also not excited about it. For me, it’s about someone who really seems primed for a championship run. I don’t see Alba as that person to topple Mandy’s historic reign. Which, again, is a reason I said Mandy should be back on the main roster but that’s neither here nor there.

Super Quincy
After weeks of vignettes, Quincy Elliot finally made his debut. The Super Diva has a lot of charisma and can move in the ring. All of that bodes well for him in this line of work. Sean Gallagher fell victim to a Banzai Drop and the crowd went wild.
We’ll be watching, Super Diva.

Highlight Celebration
Zoey Stark & Nikkita Lyons faced Arianna Grace & Kiana James in a match that was really just about one team showcasing for the crowd. And that makes sense. Nikkita and Zoey are two of the territory’s biggest stars. The match wasn’t much to write home about so I’m done writing.

Gacy Turns
Well, Cameron Grimes faced Tony D’Angelo & Stacks in a tag match. By himself. Because he’s the only one he can trust. I liked that part of the story, as it’s Cameron finding himself and finding some semblance of normalcy. As such, he’s willing to wrestle two men by himself as a bit of a crucible. I like it a lot, actually.
But then Joe Gacy showed up and even then, the story got a bit more compelling. Would Grimes accept Gacy’s help? Would he willingly tag in this man? Grimes didn’t but Gacy tagged himself in when Grimes was in trouble. And, more importantly for the money, Gacy got the W for the team! Grimes didn’t react kindly Gacy showing up, and he paid the price. The Schism beat him down and hopefully, mercifully, this thing is over. Well, no, it’s not. We still have a match between these two down the line. Sigh

Outside of the first two matches, and the reveal at the end that NXT 2.0 might be going back to just NXT, along with a new logo, this didn’t feel like much of an anniversary show. Nothing made me want to turn the channel but it wasn’t the most interesting affair. It really did feel like a victory lap, which is fine in theory, but not the best television. But whew, the opening match and main event were home runs. Those alone were worth the price of admission.

His future is bright...
Look at Drew...unless he somehow stops putting in this amount of work, if not he is destined for greatness.
Drew was serious as a wrestler, even before he left for Impact. Never once did he sabotage himself. Theory keeps acting like a joke. Look where it got The Miz.

Dominick be like: I'm tired of living in my dad's shadow, but I like Rhea's a lot. I'm gonna leave a legend and join rookies instead. So Dom is dumb.

Excuse you....The Miz is a success story and if Theory turns out like even half of the Miz he would be considered a success too.

ofcourse Miz is a success. Won the World title twice with the Money in the bank. The first time he was an afterthought at Mania, second he didn't hold it for 2 weeks. Yeah, he's a success, but he's not Cena, Rock, Randy or even Sheamus. And if Theory wants to be Miz 2.0, I might just start focusing on guys like Breakker and Grayson Waller. I hold nothing against The Miz, but he's much better when he's serious.

No matter how you downplay it many superstars would wish they've had the career The Miz has.
If theory turns out like that he has done magnificently well.

and how did it work out for him? 3MB was management booking and if you remember he was the serious one out of all of them even though they were generally goofs and jobbers. Theory on the other hand is not a jobber, but even worse is using his own hands to dig a pit for himself. The selfie gimmick, the unserious act, acting weak and not confident, letting people ride him and all that. You won't see it now but very soon the honeymoon period will be over and WWE will focus on other people. When Brock debuted, he destroyed people on the get go, pinned big names and in few months defeated The Rock for the world title. Months after destroyed The Undertaker, Big Show and Kurt Angle. While Austin Theory is going around taking selfies.

WWE SMACKDOWN REVIEWS RECAPS AND REACTIONS

It really is easy to hate Logan Paul, isn’t it? Not just for the YouTube schtick, the whole “I’m young and successful and willing to do anything for views” gimmick, but just the way he carries himself. He’s the kind of guy you’re glad to see get his ass whooped when he inevitably overextends himself against an actual tough guy.
Speaking of…
Paul kicked off Friday Night SmackDown this week to bring up the fact that he set up a match with Roman Reigns on his podcast, and he wants to have a press conference with him. Another Paul showed up to answer him, as Heyman made his long awaited return to television after a layoff to sell injuries he sustained at the hands of Brock Lesnar.
Somehow it feels like we’re a long way from all that.
Indeed, Paul’s pitch for a WWE title match, which he didn’t official lay down a challenge for but made clear was coming, is that he could maybe land a lucky punch and be the guy to end Reigns’ long run as champion. After all, the great Floyd Mayweather couldn’t put him down in a boxing match. Maybe Roman Reigns won’t be able to do so in a pro wrestling match.
It’s the kind of laughable claim that works in a setting like this, namely because plenty of the fans watching wouldn’t know better. And, hey, it’s a heel program, even if Paul fancies himself the babyface.
The real babyface in all this is Sami Zayn, who stepped in to handle things and got his clock cleaned by the apparently devastating punch Paul plans to use to beat Reigns for the strap. The fans didn’t like it, and you shouldn’t either.
Sami was instantly thrown into a bout with Ricochet and the two put together a beauty of a TV match. In it, Jey Uso once again butted heads with Sami, this time costing him a win and Zayn getting good and fed up with it and confronting him. Ricochet used the distraction to take everybody out with a big dive and followed up with the shooting star press for the victory.
Before The Bloodline could attack, Madcap Moss hit the scene with a chair to even the odds, standing alongside Ricochet and Paul. It was a very well put together open that made sense all around, considering Ricochet had a previously match with Zayn and Moss also had a North American title shot booked for later, and they furthered Zayn’s issues with Jey.
Just not sure how crazy I am about Paul vs. Reigns coming off this.
Ronda Rousey and Liv Morgan had a confrontation backstage during an interview segment, and it was actually pretty damn good:
Rousey still doesn’t respect Morgan, despite having lost to her twice, no matter the circumstances of those defeats. The way WWE has played this, Rousey is absolutely right to act this way. Morgan is still fighting for respect, so much so that she’s the one who asked for an Extreme Rules match in their next battle.
“It’s your funeral,” Rousey responded after a chuckle.
It’s as good a setup as any for yet another showdown between the two, and the added stipulation will almost certainly give us a better match than we would have gotten otherwise.

All the Rest
Karrion Kross got the black and white grainy film along with some spooky music to tell us he changes the tides and rewrites history and he’s going to be sure to take Drew McIntyre out. Hey, at least this time it was a vignette and not black and white picture while he’s in the ring, right?!?

Max Dupri was back and immediately made note of the fact that Anaheim is just a stones throw from LA. YEAH. Maxxine got him back on track to showcase the 2022 school collection. Naturally, while they were modeling, Braun Strowman decided he wanted to assault a bunch of people unprovoked again, and ran right on through Maximum Male Models. After he was done, Alpha Academy hit the scene to ambush him, with Otis attacking from behind and actually managing to get the better of him. BigBrong McMeatSong demanded a fight as the heels backed away but didn’t get one. I’m mostly just wondering when we’ll get some semblance of story here.

Bayley beat Raquel Rodriguez thanks to some shenanigans from Damage CTRL. The match was fine, it just seemed strange they would book it at all, considering Bayley has been set up as the next top contender to the Raw women’s championship and Rodriguez is so clearly being groomed for bigger and better things as a singles star on the blue brand. Why beat her here, even with the cheating? Beats me. Shotzi came out to assist her during a post-match beatdown, for reasons that were never made clear.

Drew McIntyre, good and pissed off about Kross attacking him, showed up unannounced, no entrance music, seemingly from nowhere, by jumping on the announce desk and making threats, namely that he’ll count down from three on him. You don’t want that, buddy!

Solo Sikoa successfully defended the North American championship against Madcap Moss, the first time that title has been defended on SmackDown. I quite enjoyed the match they put together. They started with the old collar-and-elbow tie-up stalemate and worked a power match from there. It was slower, but well executed on both sides. I don’t really buy this version of Moss as a babyface, but his work is pretty damn good and you can see why they use him. Besides, this was more about Zayn successfully helping Solo win and further driving a divide in The Bloodline.I want to love anything as much as The New Day love Imperium’s entrance:

The main event number one contenders Fatal 4-Way match was a lot of fun. I love chaotic matches like this, where you can hardly keep up with all the action and guys are just flying all around doing anything to entertain. This was great.

I enjoyed the hell out of this show.

So Ezekiel has been taken off the roster. Upon how 'entertaining' his character was it didn't last. Who would have seen this a mile away. If I had said it, y'all would have disagreed. Next on the line is MMM and I heard they were squashed last night. One day, maybe 50 years from now, y'all would understand what I've been saying.
