It depends on your skills. This shows you that you're being underpaid. One thing you could do is apply for new jobs at a higher level. If you succeed, leave the company.

Don't mind those condemning you for the way you feel. You're human and your feelings are valid. It's natural and doesn't make you evil. However, also consider that your friend didn't plan from the onset to put you in this situation. So, try to handle it with maturity and wisdom. Don't complain to your boss. It's not a very wise move at the moment because it'd be apparent. Things like this usually have a way of resolving themselves.

Congratulate him and joke with the rear opportunity he had. Ask jokingly about which soap he used and stuffs, also tell him that 5% of his salary must surely land in your account. Let both of you have a good laugh.

-You showed how happy and proud you're for bringing someone close to you and having a extremely positive result.
-As for the salary, you agree with him that he's taking far more and you're super cool with it.
-After a little while, confide in him that you need to speak to the management about your pay, hear what he's going to say as a good friend.
NB: please take some time before asking for a raise.

the reason the other guy was kicked out was because of pleasing. your friend wants to please the owners that he knows his work. he is newly hired. to do that he wan act professional. he wants to show them that he will not tolerate lateness to work, and he wants everyone to look professional.
