Onyi Echegini Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State senior Attacking Midfielder Onyi Echegini was named the ACC’s Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after recording three goals at Boston College on Friday, September 16. Echegini was also named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week. Echegini’s three goals against the Eagles marked her first career hat trick. She earned her first goal just 1:04 into the game and followed that up 10 minutes later with a goal at the 11-minute mark. She converted on her hat trick in the 55th minute, giving the Seminoles a 3-0 lead. FSU went on to defeat Boston College 6-0 in the ACC opener. With a hat trick against BC, Echegini became the 16th Seminole to earn a hat trick in Program history. There have only been 20 hat tricks since the soccer program started in 1995. It is the first hat trick for a Seminole since 2017 when Deyna Castellanos recorded three goals against UNC-Greensboro. 3 Likes

Deltamani:Toni is too intelligent to be playing as a FB for us. Ify being Randy's favourite is not helping matters. The CF position needs to be thrown open. Going to World cup with Desire and Ify as the strikers will not be a nice decision. Okobi can always make way for Efih. |

Deltamani:...Poor...Under him, the usual success at age grade competition we used to enjoy has disappeared, especially for the male teams. The male senior national team failed to qualify for the world cup and also there were times under his belt that we failed to qualify for nations cup. The female senior national team has been a shadow of itself under his watch. bye bye Amaju Pinick may we never meet again....still cant believe he did not sack Waldrum immedately after the Aishat Buhari cup... 2 Likes |

Chiamaka Nnadozie will be in the FIFA 2023 Game. The number one women's goalkeeper in Africa will be in the game with his club, Paris FC. So when you're playing FIFA 2023, look out for the star girl

After reading some of the comments here, not surprised about the very limited myopic scope of comments and in Nigeria as a whole. I will rate him a B+ for his efforts and attempt at making Nigerian football a world football brand. Too many things to state here, from fiscal accountability to establishing a brand name to instituting change on the continent and globally and attempt at modernizing the game in Nigeria. But of course, Nigerians being who we are, would rather live in the stone age, than move forward. We prefer to degrade and destroy anything that would bring us out of the stone age. That's why Pinnick had to spend the bulk of his tenure fighting frivolous lawsuits and unfounded rumors, intentional roadblocks, sabotage and enemies within and without (including the Nigerian sports ministry, who consistently interfered with his administration and willful refusal to allow and/or provide the use of decent stadia to prosecute WCQ games, leading to the failures we experienced), as well as the constant noise from detractors impacted by his insistence on getting rid of age cheating in our cadet competitions), to name a few. I saw his tenure as a reset of Nigerian football and an attempt to align it with the modern game. Pinnick, to me, had great vision and so I would rate his tenure highly. Deltamani: 1 Like |

Deltamani: Something is very fishy. I’m not sure the backstory to this but 15 women on the team want Vilda out. That should be an attention getter. I’m supporting the women. Guess there will be a turnover on their national team. Things must be bad for so many players to have gone public. The response from the Federation is, simply put, awful. The men are circling their wagons. 1 Like |

15 players of Spain's women's national team emailed the Spanish FA stating they resign because Jorge Vilda remains coach. The Spanish FA responded that they won't let players pressure them to make coaching decisions and they won't call up those players who do not wish to play.

isan: Na wa my guy 15 players is over half of the national team. This is no joke. It is something any federation will take seriously. What exactly is wrong with the federation "bending to the will of the girls", aren't they the one at the receiving end of the whole debacle. If there is any merit to their concerns then it is worth taking seriously. |

Well they can't just kick out a national team coach because their players wants the coach gone and threatened the federation not to honour future call ups , if the federation give in now who knows what the girls will demand for in the future? what message will they be sending to their remaining national teams ? If its about sexual assault, racism or any other serious issues the coach should be sacked but if it's about football tactics the girls have gone too far by their actions lovewins: |
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Deltamani: 8:14am On Sep 23, 2022 |
isan: ISAN Do you actually believe coaches should only be dismissed when they commit a crime? If that is the case, then very few coaches on planet earth should have resigned/let go. Coaches are let go daily. If as a coach you're underperforming (that Spain can still not win a knockout match at senior level is criminal) or if you have lost your squad to such heights where players at the prime of their careers are willing to end their international careers, then what again are you holding on for? From the Mourinhos to the Guardialos to the Jill Ellis to the Silvia Neids to even the Klopps, a time comes when you have to move and when it does, you move. If you are worth your salt, then you will land on your feet. |
