By buffer funds I meant, after demonstrating the accessible funds required to defray the total cost of your study set all, there's need to demonstrate that you're not going to return to the country broke or safety net to cater to any financial emergency during the period. That's what the "buffer fund" is for. Those kinds funds you can use funds which are not necessaries or immediately accessible by the applicant.

consider as a differentiator, what is the unique outcome of one program over the other? which is more aligned with your prior degree, and career. obviously as you infered, 2 year study seems a more reasonable expense for that amount of money than an 8 months program, mostly when the amount you are spending is not less than 1/3 of your total bank balance.

You should also consider, the sunk cost should you apply for 8 months then attempt to change program later on. I don't know what the school's refund policy is like when you voluntarily withdraw from the program at the start of the session. Trust me, you wont be the first to try and pull this, hence the school management must have learned and tweaked their policy to protect their interest.

in conclusion, consider the total cost of the strategy (directly applying for the 2 years, or applying for 8 months & withdrawing afterwards) and the weight of the value proposition + career alignment then take a decision. Las las, it is a pill you must swallow. I can only tell you the color whilst looking at what you are showing me, na you go still taste weda e bitter or sweet when you put am for mouth.. lol

Thank you for your well detailed reply. I am in this boat too. I am looking at 2 school for the same program. One is running it for 8months while the other is 2yrs.

I am in a dilemma now. To me 8 months is short but my PoF will cover this wella but I prefer the 2 yrs for 3yrs pgwp. Plan is to apply with the 1st one being shorter and Pof is okay for it and change later

My concern: Is 8 months program not to short to spend like over 10m and return flight expenses?

Please what do you think or suggest?

Have you considered the format may not be convenient to follow through. Remember no one owes you this information, so please let's not make it cumbersome for people to come back to help.

I think any format with relevant details like documents submitted, Tuition & amounts paid, POF, timelines, Travel History, no of applicants, number of application and Sponsorship type is okay.

Tot those 8month programme or course are equivalent to 1year programme in Canada?
I.e 4months first semester & 4months 2nd semester
E.g like Fanshawe college?

I stand to be corrected if am wrong though?

16 months only.

chose that specific program / course for the following reasons
1. school fees will be relatively cheaper
2. PoF demand will be less, just over 1 year and i can package for the whole stay without the need to work. (canada social welfare system should in anyway whether directly or indirectly fund your study if it is not verifiable scholarship scheme)
3. minimum study time to give me full PGWP
4. demonstrate minimum time required to acquire credential and not be away from work for too long (winks)

skentelelady He actually means that his program is a 2 year program with back to back semesters. 2 4-month semesters per year, adding up to 16 months.

Some schools have programs with 8 months as the official duration. These programs are only eligible for 8 months PGWP. Some schools have programs with 1 year as the official duration but the actual duration is 8 months. These programs are eligible for a 1 year PGWP.

I suggest that you apply for a 1 year program then when you go to Canada, apply for another 1 year program and extend your study permit. Don't apply for any program that is officially an 8 month program. It's not worth the risk.

To address the issues of Fake PPRs and maintain the purpose of the unique group, I am proposing a standardized format for sharing PPR Status. This way, information can easily be collated, and further data analysis can be performed. You can easily forecast application trends. For example, you will notice eligibility has started for most June applicants recently, including mine.

I think that's a good idea.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by bepositive11: 1:56am On Sep 30, 2022
Maybe also include "Document List" and "SOP Structure".

This will make PPR announcements more informative.

I'm tired of seeing PPR announcements with the main goal being to praise their agents. When you ask questions to learn more from them, they don't even bother replying. It's obvious that their main intent is not to help us or educate us, but to market and sell their agents through testimonials.

Come to think of it, what value does dropping PPR timelines and testimonies add here if you don't give insights into WHAT, WHY & HOW you did your application. What strategies you implemented, e.g how you structured & frequency of your emails, did you request your notes and when, did you engage MPs and how, did you file for family and how did you facilitate your documentation, how did you handle POF issues, and red flags in you application package, did you do upfront medicals and when, etc.

Just coming to say hey! i got my PPR really does nothing but give hope to both those who package a well thought out application and those who forged 99% of their documents to GIVE THEM HOPE.

However, you and I know for a fact that it is NOT HOPE THAT SWAY a VO's REVIEW OF YOUR ELIGIBILITY. While a stroke of luck may come into play to ensure that the VO is not "having a bad day" and commits too many oversight mistakes, THEY ARE MOSTLY INATELY OBJECTIVE IN THEIR REVIEWS, CROSS-REFERENCING VARIABLES & INFERENCES IN A WELL DEFINED & STRUCTURED PROCESS.

PEOPLE COME TO NAIRALAND TO GET SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS' INSIGHTS INTO THIS WHOLE STUDY & WORK PERMIT PROCEDURES AND NOT TO BE PART OF STATISTICS FOR SUCCESSES AND/OR FAILURES

Perhaps, we really need to take a step back and ask ourselvse, what are we really doing here. If not, lets just form our various demonination of religious groups and be doing daily devotions while we call on members to be giving testimonies so that others can so seeds for divine intervention and success assurance... lol on a lighter note though.

But please, we should stay focus on generating and giving insights, not testimonies. When i newly joined the study permit thread in part 21, that was how things were, i gained so much insights just following peoples posts, quotes, and arguments, i screenshot over 100 posts (it is now i am trashing all those) which positioned me for success, even at that, i was still 60-40% sure (Till date it is yet to dawn on me that i have scaled the first hurdle). I still remember this dude who will drop you NL specific posts reference link to answer any & all of your questions, genius!.... if that moniker come to this part, i wonder what posts he will reference to players in part say, 25 in the future. they will only come here to count the success rate of applicants at the time.

We need to dissuade this testimony routine, and finnesse of channelling new applicants to backend / private discussions cause that is what is happening and PPR quotes are fuelling this even more. Very soon we will only come here to count how many PPR we got this week, strike that. Isn't that what we are doing already?!!!

ciao

Well said, God bless you.

Hi NL peepz … since I got denied in 2014 I haven’t been on this platform not until today ,thank God for password recovery option .
I joined this thread I guess at part 3 back then … 8yrs ago I was denied and now I want to reapply , I learnt biometrics valids for 10yrs , that’s cool. Btw dz years I hv had travel history to the uae with 2yrs residence
Hopefully I will be submitting my application next week . Can someone tell me the new trend now in packaging a strong and convincing application for Ircc… back then in 2014 nothing like MBS , but now I’m reading diff comments whereby ppl are talking bout MBS, is it really compulsory? Cos i have enuf savings with a microfinance bank that’s not included in the MBS system , can the bank statement along with reference letter from bank suffix ?
I also read a part of this thread whereby a lot of 2020/21 applicants were complaining bout BVL message coming up before medical request and some talking about receive NSE request from ircc, is same issue still happening so much now ?
Thanks guys while I anticipate your responses
