The lonliness

The racism

Oga una no dey shame say una dey a place wey humans like una build... Make una dey shame small small naaa

Upon that una bongo still make the money... The last time I checked the rich boys in Nigeria aren't abroad based and they are doing legit business here not washing some dead bodies, plates and security jobs and old folks

Again, the vast majority of those people studied abroad or worked abroad or worked outside Nigeria and then returned to set up businesses in Nigeria. This new generation of japa folks would do the same, many will return but do stronger and as citizens of developed countries. Moreover, Indians and Chinese, who you applaud for moving to Nigeria also relocate outside their countries. There are so many of them in Australia, the US, UK, Germany etc. Humans would always migrate. The same cultural issues regarding raising children, so many parents don't experience the same because of how they brought their children. No be for Nigeria LGTV folks don dey around? I see their videos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

wat if d son gets gunned down by those thugs thru gun violence

That situation is random with the probability of it happening very low because they have a proactive government. In Nigeria the probability of kidnapping his professor dad is very high. If the Dad can pass through ijebu ode-ibadan road or lagos-ibadan road in his Toyota Camry by 8pm to 5am successful, even to fix a flat tyre he has Gods protection over him

Oga hand to mouth lives is the teurg

You are living in credit and throughout your life you pay the credit... I don't even want to talk student loans that you pay till 50s

Wait till your 60s and 70s and understand what you did to yourself... Then your kids will not come back when you will want to come back...

In short they will not identify as Africans not to talk of Nigerians... Then it will be too late! That is if they don't drop you in hospice or some old folks home

That is if they dolt wake up to tell you they are now a trans or a gay or even les...forget them comming back and above all you have many and plenty gbese credit to pay from mortgage to child Supprt to student loan

Why should they return to a place of fewer economic opportunities? I don't understand you o. So a child raised to be an adult in the US should return to Nigeria after graduation? To do what? No one stops you as the parent from returning, I can understand it but expecting your child(ren) to do the same without looking at the economics does not make sense.

As for credit, people should see it as leverage, practice delayed gratification and understand a bit of economics. Don't go about getting credit to purchase liabilities or living a champagne lifestyle on a beer income.

That's life. One can't have it all. Yes, the cold can be very brutal and you have to dress yourself and the kids in layers. But I will rather pick the cold. It's bearable.
Insecurity, economic instability, weak institutions, poor system of education, epileptic power supply and a very weak passport are very unbearable. It takes extra strength to live in Nigeria. An elderly friend once said "Alagbara lo n gbe ni Nigeria ".

.. Hmnn, you've said it all.

Hello Mr, I have been reading your comments, please can you help me relocate abroad? I don't have the means to do so now, I am a contract staff in a bank and I'm tired, please consider helping me even though I am a stranger and have come to your in weakness.

The truth about moving abroad is that it requires money, plenty of it. If you are single, it is cheaper but it involves a lot. For instance, I paid N1.5 million for my flight ticket before leaving. Imagine a married man doing so with his wife and say three children (since our people like to born plenty children)?

My advice to you would be to increase your skill set so that you stop being a contract staff and get employed at a high-paying firm in your industry or change industries if you have the time to learn something new. Then from there, you save, invest, compound and repeat. You could decide to leave via studies, work visa or even remain in Nigeria. I don't criticise those who remain in Nigeria, not everyone can leave anyway. My brother loves staying in Nigeria, but I don't love it. When I was learning ICAN, I met someone like my brother, and I was like his brother (now in Canada). So, people have different perspectives, and I respect it. One thing though, I believe people would/should face the end results of every decision they take.

Typical Nigerian we should celebrate that you don't pay taxes. How will the government build schools , roads and other amenities?

7m naira is just about 10000usd , many Nigerians abroad make 10x this amount
we pay income tax Called payee if you truely ever worked you will know we also pay WHT ,CIT VAT ,stamp duty tax . This are all the tax we pay . And it automated . On Vat alone We collectively pay around 500 bn naira per month . NNPC has not remitted any money to govt so Nigeria is currently run on tax collection . From my 7m I shop in shorpite and pay 7,5 vat tax I also buy airline tickets and pay 10 percent as tax . 7m is 10000 USD =this the silly conversion una they do to feel
fulfilled . We have all been here . majority of oyinbo don't have 10000usd in their bank accounts and will take a African Migrant over 1 year of slave labour to save that after expense .

Depends on who you are in Nigeria, your skills or business. You can invest the 15m on a piece of land then gov Wike revoke your land as he did to Atiku campaign mgr in PH recently. I invested 10m somewhere in 2019 a minister changed the entrance to that street because it disturbs his entourage. See I'm not talking of Fulani yet oh. Nigeria is a useless country but you can still make money there but don't be fooled how risky your success is.
I'm from Kogi state and can tell you for free that if you go into a business any of yaya Bello boys are interested in you will be killed and Bello will publish how Natasha Akpoti is the one that did it.
So don't be fooled

So how do Ndi foreign investors aka Lebanese, Chinese and Indians cope there?

But with that kind of mentality by those close to the elites, I am not surprised that Kogi is one of the poorest states in Nigeria.

This washing of dead body is an old wives tale.

I have lived in more than 3 western countries. Even when I was at my lowest, working as a laborer I was more fulfilled than when I worked in oil and gas in Nigeria.

These I work in top companies and make a lot of money. The most important aspect of living overseas is that I can go to the gym at 3am and not worry about my safety.

1. Not everyone lives in America
2. As dangerous as you think America is it is safer than Nigeria

3. The homicide rate in Nigeria is 34 compared to 4 in USA

The advice I am giving him is the best as I can't assist a random person online. I gave him a long-term plan, which if he applies, he becomes better for it. I was brought up to know how a fish is caught rather than being fed fish. As for borrowed POFs, good luck to those who use them. I did not take loans to japa nor were assets sold.

The reality where I am is:

- Learn the language
- Attend a good school and get skilled
- Stick to the rules and laws
- Respect boundaries

That is all.

It is worth it if it is what you want and ready to adjust to the new way of life. Speaking of being treated like 2nd class citizens the truth is if you live in Nigeria unless you have money and well connected no one will treat you well even gatemen will rubbish you. You will be treated worse than 2nd class . But if you are well boxed up Nigeria is sweet.

So lately I have seen friends, families, colleagues at work, church members relocating abroad.
These people are "doing well" here in Nigeria.
Many of them resign from their high paying jobs, sells their properties and put up to like 25 - 40 million naira to relocate a family of say 5.
Is it really worth it?
Can't we make a good living here in Nigeria especially people with a good job here?
I need clarifications from those that have gone to enlighten me.

If your reason for traveling abroad is economic, all good. By this I mean you are hopeless, good. But if you have a reasonable source of income, a house of your own and live reasonably comfortably then don't leave the country.
Most japas like those you mentioned are motivated by greed, pride (Others are going, me too I want to go) and selfishness.
If you are afraid for your life, safety is alone of the Lord either in Nigeria or oversea.

But you won't talk about that due to White worshipping..but you people wish bad things happen to Nigeria and her people everyday so you'll be able to justify your Japa and tell them "we warned you". Why can't you people Just accept the fact that not everyone want to come And live a lonely and boring life abroad Just because of 24hrs light which you pay for with your nose anyways , and McDonald Job of $1500 per month. The money you earn over there doesn't even find you that boost until you convert it to naira in your head just to validate yourself and say ",I'm earning more than a professor in Nigeria". This is a trend I see Among you people.

And you can call me broke because I live in Nigeria. Since you can't even know whether I'm more satisfied and contented with my life or not

I've stated it here on numerous occasions that by the second year of the next administration, a Dollar will exchange for close to #2,000. Maybe by then, you'd understand what's fuelling the japa syndrome.

The country had been murdered from the inception, the funeral arrangements is what's currently ongoing.

please note, the dollar is 450 it's the black market that is 800+ and who buys from black market? They are the people who can't explain why they want dollars and most people usually sell to aboki rather than selling to bank at official rate. mean why, aboki is ready buy from you and sell to those who can't buy through bank at whatever rate he likes. Nigerians are the biggest enemy of Nigeria. It's more of the people and less of the policy.

If you don't have the means to leave this country. It's very understandable. Which one are you now consoling yourself with gun violence. Have you heard of any other place in the world where bandits can take 100 plus people from a school or train for months? Or schools will be on strike for 10 months. Poverty rate here is not caused by laziness. Its caused by evil leadership and mediocrity. Nigeria has fallen lets be honest

It won't get that bad. The primary problem now is that Buhari fixes the exchange rate. He fixes at a strong rate that makes absolutely no economic sense.

By June 2023,Buhari would be gone and all 3 leading presidential aspirants have promised to make the Naira flexible again. This would make the Naira firm up and stop the free fall

They have also promised to end petrol subsidies and deregulate the price. This will put the Naira on a much firmer footing.
