A lot of Lebanese and Indians are doing very well here in Nigeria. Nigerians, like most blacks are not builders. They always run to where others have built. Even in US, they keep running to the white neighborhoods while the whites ( builders) keep running from them.
many just want to feel they have suppased their country men by moving to white man Land and be sending pictures of snow up and down after coming home from a warehouse shift at Amazon .

Uk is currently doing promo with student visa they may change policy one day and people have no where to go again. So people dey rush am now as he dey hot. Dont blame them.

Topic is now on fp make nobody quote me. I no dey mood angry

Honestly, it's 100pct worth it if you are going with Permanent Residency. You get to settle on time economically in your destination.

If you are relocating through student route, it's largely going to worth it if you do your research very well and understand how to plan your way to permanent residency at your destination in the shortest possible time.

If you are going on a visit visa, to become illegal afterwards, it's not worth it at all except your life is not meaningful in Nigeria.

Whatever you decide, let me end it with my usual assertion. "A Cat in Nigeria cannot become a Lion overseas, and a Lion in Nigeria will not become a Cat either overseas.

You know yourself, capabilities etc. Research your destination and set your expectations accordingly.

Good luck !

@bolded It's not always true. A Cat in Nigeria can become a Lion overseas, and a Lion in Nigeria can become a Cat overseas. It really depends on the person and their strategy.

Just think about it, you can be wealthy in Nigeria and get kidnapped for ransom or get killed by a mumu police officer
That alone is worth leaving the country for
. Do you know how many blacks that have been killed in the USA in the last one month? America is not the safest. You and your kids can be killed by a random guy testing his gun

Although i agree with you on some point, that there is no place like home, but your argument on this topic about how you got the opportunity of freeing yourself from the claws of poverty is not relative. My intake is a lot of Nigerians like yourself are self centered ''Me Me Syndrom'' a functional society is not about individual progress like yours, but a collective one where everyone have the access to life basics . There are millions living in abject poverty and fear of insecurity due to non functional governmental institutions. Your mindset of a progressive Naija can the qualified to that of the ruling class, for them Nigeria is working just fine.

So how do Ndi foreign investors aka Lebanese, Chinese and Indians cope there?

But with that kind of mentality by those close to the elites, I am not surprised that Kogi is one of the poorest states in Nigeria.

A Lebanese or Chinese is a whiteman in Nigeria, how dare you compare ordinary black folks with almighty Chinese? These are the people that help the governor's take their money abroad so you want to compare us with them? Do you know how to buy hotel in another country and hide the identity of the owner like they recently did for yaya Bello in Saudi Arabia? You are blaming only Kogi in rivers can you run for LG chairman without permission from Wike? This is why Nigeria is f...cked for good. Everybody with little power is arrogant. I schooled in a university in the UK for 2 years and I never saw the VC till I finished, neither did I remember his name or know where the office is, you hardly see his name even in programs, and if he's at an event you are attending you won't hear he's there. But in Nigeria you will not only know him everyday of your life, but his wife, mother, children must all be forced down your throat. This is why any youth that fail to vote for Peter Obi is cursed along with their generation because Obi is the only modern leader among them all. Up till today I don't know his wife even when he was governor. Not Tinubu that wife, son, daughter are already mini emperors on their own and waiting to enter aso rock and rule their poor citizens. Africa will still be useless 1000 years to come

You can build wealth depending on how you define wealth. I left Nigeria when I was 19 right after I finished high school and was waiting for my JAMB result. If you are willing to put in the work the sky is the limit to whatever you can achieve in this land of Milk and honey we call the USA. My house is fully paid for and I have been working from my own house going on over 5 years and making six figures. My two boys are all grown up and living on their own with their families. This summer went on a seven days cruise of the Mediterranean with my wife. So tell me again how you define wealth. No bad for someone from Odesa in Ijebu Ode. Eweso !!!!

You won't admit it, but I'm sure you went on that cruise using credit (debt). Nobody can afford anything in these developed countries without debt.

You went on a cruise but nobody wants to interact with you on the cruise because they think you're servants / waiters. Imagine living life at the bottom of society, despised, scorned and treated like trash, no matter how much money you have.

Your kids are grown up but probably act like Akatas and have no African culture again. They're probably into homosexuality, pornography (onlyfans), drugs and other degenerate behaviour accepted as normal in the West.

Oga you people should stop this cock and bull story. Majority of oyibo don't have 10000 USD in their bank account?

How do you know this? Tell me. You people talk all this nonsense about mortgage and loans, you think anybody can go to a bank and get any loan they want.

You dont know loans are means tested. When you see someone living in 2m dollar house, they put it in 20% of that money down to begin with which is 400k. Then what ever job they have must be able to cover three times the mortgage payment that is how mortgages are means tested. If you go to any major city in the world the majority of houses there are over 800K , from Melbourne, to Toronto, to New York and even Sydney.

Many Nigerian immigrants but houses that are at least 600K. 10% down is 60K which can build a house in most areas in Nigeria. After that down payment most of us pay a mortgage of nearly 3200 every month comfortably because banks will not give you a mortgage you can't pay comfortably. Again keep deceiving yourself but at least don't deceive people.

I don't have any issues with y'all saying these things to convince yourself you are better off in Nigeria but you are deceiving other Nigerians

I was being generous with the conversion, 7m is not up to 10000usd in the black market where majority of Nigerians buy dollars
no mind them... They feel we are stupid

It started out innocent, right? Maybe when you were in high school, Mom and Dad gave you a credit card “for emergencies only” to help you build up your credit. But a few months into your new cardholder status, you realized that you held the term “emergency” a little too loosely. Yeah, those late-night pizza runs don’t seem as important when you’re paying triple just a few years later.

And what about cars, college degrees, expensive family vacations and even those ridiculously overpriced mom jeans you just bought to stay “on trend”? Let’s just say, you’ve discovered what’s killing the American Dream: your Discover card (and more debt than you know what to do with).

Since when did the American Dream involve piles of credit card bills, student loans and car payments? When did the American Dream turn into working so much you can’t see your family, owing more money than you make to Sallie Mae, and losing sleep over the mortgage payment? Has the American Dream become an illusion?

dude pharmacuetical is a big business.... You will make it and the market is huge in Nigeria....but establish it here and be here to manage it.... It is important!

You can avoid Lagos and look for tax free zones like Ogun, Anambra, Ekiti, Enugu etc.. These areas are good and they have the manpower

How did you survive that rat race in UK came to London was surprised at how Nigerians juggle jobs and manage life
