Best player of the tournament is not decided based on the World Cup final alone, Mbappe was no where to be found in France vs England match but Messi was instrumental in Argentina's 3-0 win over Croatia. Messi has been there for his team in every match through out this tournament, his dramatic goal of the tournament opener against Mexico ensured Argentina's World Cup dream was not over even before it got started after their shock 2-1 loss to Saudi in the first match.
