It's one thing to acknowledge that some foods have strong smells, especially to people who aren't familiar with it and another thing to attribute it to being dirty and lower class like she's doing.

There are Nigerian dishes that have a neutral smell that people can bring into the office alternatively so it isn't necessarily a 'Nigerian food' thing

British 'office' foods that 'stink' as well:

- Vinegar with their chips
- Cheese and onion crisps
- Greasy bacon
- Microwaved scotch eggs
- Marmite

In all honesty, our traditional foods have pungent smell and can cling to things in the environment for long. They can go ahead and ban them from entering offices and schools

Just say these two attract your attention, mine are up to a dozen, both plant and animal based food(stuffs), that I can't stand in preparation and serving no matter how they are presented.

In Africa we remain puritans when it comes to cuisine. The bulk of things we eat here have rudimentary additives, mainly tailored towards taste. We have not exploited the broad spectrum of fruits, vegetables, oils and spices that are out there that make a serious difference in the way our food looks, tastes and smells.
