Understanding is very important in the family.

It is just like couples fighting on who should wash the man's clothes.....If I have to burst the bubble even my dad helped to wash my mum's clothes, fetch water( though he later fixed the pump ) despite having maids when we were younger. My mum has left my dad with maids and 5 daughters ( before my brother came) for weeks and my dad is still 'chaste', my mum always says that ' your dad is a honourable man, I have NEVER for once thought any thing bad can happen with him alone with you all'..... But we can't say this with our full chest with men of nowadays.

My dad is usually the one that goes shopping in the market( apart from stores), my mum goes with him on weekends since she was a working class mum... She more often closes from work and rushes to nearby super stores to get somethings for us to hold our stomach with while she rests a bit and enters the kitchen.

Since 'great minds think alike', funny enough what she buys during the week from superstores is what my dad too will buy.... There will now be small arguments ( humorous though) on why the other person didn't say he/she will buy that thing in the morning before leaving( note that phone usage wasn't too common).

As soon as mum arrives home maybe by 7pm( already dad is outside in the balcony waiting for her...lol), as she enters, we are already muching to hold belle....though we as kids didn't eat much....Dad isn't a traditionalist that insists mum MUST enter the kitchen..... As mum is in the kitchen with maids, dad can even enter to see what is happening... If on weekends and he needs pounded yam, he helps to pound it.... Foodstuff is usually at home, so no worries.

Mum prepares stew, soup and keeps in the fridge so that it will just mean preparing swallow, rice etc to eat it whether or not she is around.

Many men saying they can't do this or that are sometimes even the low life men..... Real men don't have time arguing who does what in the house.... I have seen my dad wash plates, gutter, sweep etc, it may not be all the time but he does it..... I have seen my maternal grandad 'backing' my siblings ( a retired Policeman).....If my mum wants to see her dad NOW, the man doesn't mind flying bike just to rush to see her.....And these men gets their rewards.....You can never say anything I'll about my grandfather in the ears of my mum( not even his wife....my mum's mum... Lol).... Same with us concerning our dad( the BEST I have seen). These are roles models that TALK and DO( especially my dad....lol).

Before you marry, LOOK well and marry your type if u are from a decent home.... Some men are educated BUT NOT enlightened......Marry a man that LOVES you MORE.

Useless woman
If you cannot cook and clean please remain in your Father's house so that your parents can be helping you to cook and clean.
That's why it's good to marry more than one wife, you surely can't try this nonesense in a polygamous home because I won't be touching your food for years and there will be no feeding allowance from me too. Trouble started when Christianity came to Nigeria and we started copying the whites.

The last thing I'll do is reduce myself to a caterer for any woman. If you need a househelp employ one, after-all you're working, so you can have the luxury to be Tik Toking the whole day.

many men are working multiple jobs.

i know of a teacher in a public school, who has a teaching job, has a jamb center and is also a part-time lecturer in one of the distance learning institutions.

also, i know a policeman that is also a part-time lecturer at another distance-learning institution

I personally know FEMALE teachers who do 4 good home lessons( N40000-60000 each) of 1hr each after school to supplement what they earn and most are married.

I see house chores as nothing, I have been doing it from a tender age. Marriage won't stop me from doing what I enjoy doing. Whenever am at home I see no reason why I shouldn't assist my wife. Back then whenever my siblings or someone else clean the house I always re-clean. I believed they won't do it better than me till my mum adviced me against it that it would discourage them.

Cooking is one of my hobbies, I enjoy doing it.

That's really nice but don't let your gender start calling you simp or unsavoury names. Its ideal for husbands to fully participate in domestic work, it will even elevate the marriage sef because if only one person is doing the heavy lifting then resentment sets in. Balance is key.

Yep, same way there are irresponsible moms. I've seen several irresponsible dads and moms, so it's not gender specific. e.g I remembered that thread in which some children boldly came out after the death of their father to say that he left no legacy for them to build upon, that's an example of an irresponsible father of the allegation is true. As parents, you're to teach your child/children a lot of things and virtues like honesty, truthfulness, fairness, kindness etc. It's not just about taking care of the physical wellbeing of the children alone that makes one a responsible father/mother. Hope you get my take now??

Hmmmm....... the man is smiling .... I wonder if the woman knows this may be the excuse the man was waiting for to find his way to Uche's house in the name of food guarantee?

... and yes ... I was veryyy hungry ..... why should I risk coming home to empty plate? ....I was over there that long because she served me much food .... you expected me to let her labour go in vain? ... and food go to waste? ... she has no kids and lives alone .... there's no one to eat extra food.

I'm sure moving forward there will never be another empty plate.

Imagine returning from a function with the whole family like Church or any outing for that matter, Some of us usually get tired and exhausted...

But Na she go still enter kitchen go fix some thing wey the family go eat... No question asked about it... Where she got those little extra energy to go inside the kitchen and cook since we attended the same function , I can't tell... Some times we men takes some of those little things for granted...

Anyways, I will use this golden opportunity that festive period has offered to salute the women in the house who are doing all things possible to keep their homes... Well-done..

Married men especially the ones with kids should spend less time at the gym and help out more at home.

The man deserves to go hungry or better still upgrade his gym membership to cover his dinner since the gym is his first home.

There can't be two adults at home and only one will be sweating on home chores.

This is my two cents and anyone who doesn't feel alright about it should not attack me but please remain single.
Even you wey I know reach house dey come yarn rubbish here. Your papa dey do house chores? All these anaedo boys sef

Her mates abroad are full time housewives cooking, cleaning, shopping, and raising over 4 kids all by themselves without nannies. Still, many have side hustles or part time jobs bringing in extra income. They are called supermoms.

Many Nigerian women are using "wokism" to destroy our family values and traditions

Do you wash cars everyday? do you fix things around the house everyday? do you change bulb everyday? Oho but you eat everyday and the food is being prepared by someone from morning till night. That is a chore. If its not a big deal or work then do it yourself.
If you cannot comfortably submit to your husband in everything also do not complain if he does not enter the kitchen with you as if his entering will change anything about your feminist perception.
