Congrats to you and I am happy to be part of your success story..

OkukuOne:
I have returned to share the good news on behalf of my wife!!!
It's PPR
God came through for us!!

I came to Nairaland in search of direction and guidance. I have been on the journey for ages and no one could help me financially, so I gave up. After a long while close pals that are in Canada advised me that since I can now afford it, I should try and join them in Canada. I tried and got admission in 2015/16, but I opted out again considering the fact that I am now married and it will be difficult to school, work, and work extra to care for the family I will be leaving behind. Again, I opted out.

Fast forward to 2021, two of my close pals (same friends) encouraged me to make a move now. They believe that I can comfortably pay the fees now. Well, this time around, I changed the narrative. I applied for my wife to study while I sponsor her.

She got admitted and we started looking for information and the best way to get SP. My good friend who persuaded me to start the journey again was there and feeding me with information bit by bit. But because of my person who knows Nairaland as far back as 2007, I fell back here to search for more information. I don't like to be at the mercy of any man. I started digging and reading timelines. I asked questions 2 or 3 times. I also mistakenly mentioned to my friend that I saw a different view from his in Nairaland. This got him mad and started treating me poorly. I got to a point, I felt it was time to do this thing on my own. I didn't contact him any longer and if he ask me about the process, I just tell him, we are waiting on God. in between, I had good savings, but money is never enough, so I mistakenly asked him and the other of my friend to help with payment of my wife first-semester fee while I kept my money I already saved as POF. I didn't intend to touch it till she leaves. This also caused another bad blood. Two of them turned their back on me w.r.t. money. If you really love your friends, I will advise, you should avoid asking for money from them. Money spoils relationships a lot.

We got admitted in March 2022, but we submitted the application in September 2022 because I want to satisfy my conscience that the money we had was well above what is needed.

It's one year program that is to commence in winter 2023. We paid the first-semester fee and showed a POF of over 13mil. After the application, I removed my mind completely till the allotted time for SP finishes before sending webform. This is not to say we were not checking her email. I raised just one webform on the 12th of December 2022 informing IRCC that the allotted time for review (60/90 days) has elapsed. I didn't hear from them on the 12th and 13th, but on the 14th day of December 2022, my wife's email got a new mail. The email address was strictly for this process. So, I hurriedly opened it on my phone and you need to see the joy overflowing in me.

Majority of the documents I gathered as supporting documents (i.e. a letter of reference from my company to a letter of reference from where she volunteered) I forgot to upload. These were key documents, but God proves Himself...

God will not share His glory with any man.

Her Timeline
Upfront Medical: 20th July 2022 at IOM Lagos
Submitted: 13th September 2022
Biometrics: 19th September 2022
Biometrics: uploaded on 06th October 2022
Background check: 06th October 2022
Medicals passed: 23rd September 2022
Original Passport Request: 14th December 2022
Review of eligibility: 22nd December 2022
Final Decision: 22nd December 2022
POE: 23rd December 2022

Before I forget, we didn't get any notification via mail or on her IRCC Account apart from upfront medical passed and Biometrics. every other notification was updated after the Original Passport Request of 14th December 2022.

Our Covenant highway came earlier than expected.

My final word here to all, everybody's situation is peculiar, though you can have one or two situations that look the same.

To all those waiting, the GOD that did this for us will do for you. Just have faith and believe.

See you all on the other side SOWP and Study Permits for kids.

kudos to Makano, skulleva, and others not mentioned for the wealth of knowledge being shared here without asking for a dime.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by makano: 1:24pm On Feb 04, 2023
Hello Amosey

Do well to inform IRCC, so they can have the information at the POE before you arrive in Canada. If you don't update IRCC and you get to the POE, there will be issues except you meet a POE officer that won't ask you too many questions.

Peace

Amosey:
Hi everyone!
I’m confused about if I should inform IRCC about my new LOA.

I already have my passport stamped for fall 2022 but my ppr came after the semester has already started so I deferred my admission to Spring 2023 (May) because there was no seat available for Winter intake at the time of my deferral.

My questions are:
1. Do I have to inform IRCC about it. (Note that my application has been processed and a decision has been made)
2. Will Study Permit be issued based on validity of LOI or based on the date on my new LOA at Port of Entry.

Hello Migo

Just provide a family tree explaining to the Visa officer how related she is to you. And if she has sponsored you in the past, that will be an added advantage.

Pls I need your help on how I'm gonna apply for the study permit with her being my sponsor and still getting approved

Hello akinloluazeez

This is the mistake most people make. Lump sum is never an issue, the issue is when you don't explain in detail to the Visa officer how the lump sum came about. Let them know the source and the reason/purpose of the said amount and make sure you provide documents to back up your claims. IRCC Visa officers love seeing documents that further convince them of your claims.

Peace
akinloluazeez:
Pls what are my chances if I present POF with lump sum (15M) which represent my savings for over 10years of work.
I can provide evidence through my salary payslip that some funds are going into a cooperative society. Now this funds are credit back to my salary account for me to proceed with studies in Canada.

Pls an advice required!
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by makano: 1:43pm On Feb 04, 2023
Renew your passport asap and travel before July.

When you get to Canada, ask for an extension to the end date of your program.

Peace
Gsrt:
Good evening house,
I need help… I already got ppr and passport back from vfs but my program will be starting in September and my passport will expire in July, this means the visa on my passport will expire in July.

When is the best time to travel ?

Can I renew my passport now and travel with both passport without any issues ?

Thank you

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by makano: 1:59pm On Feb 04, 2023
Hello Habeebboy

You didn't state if you have submitted your application or not.

Medicals can be done before or after the submission of your application, biometrics is only done after your application is submitted.

Peace
Habeebboy:
Please guys. What are the next things to do after paying school fee. My school fee has dropped to the school account.

Do I need to do medical first or biometrics before medical? My resumption is May
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by makano: 2:01pm On Feb 04, 2023
Hello Republic

There are many schools under OCAS, so the duration of admission depends on the individual schools.

But with my experience with the admission process of some OCAS schools, admission shouldn't take more than 2 months.

Good day everyone. I would love to relocate to Canada through study. I'm a graduate of microbiology with 3.2 CGPA and I graduated in 2010. I have been working as a sales representative with pharmaceutical companies since after NYSC.
What course can I go for as "post graduate" studies? Can I get a masters degree admission with my CGPA? Wch sch and course? Do I have to go for a second degree or college?
....considering the fact that I have left sch for over 10yrs, is dt a criteria for admission?
I don't want to do IELTS,so which sch should I choose?
An uncle in UK is suggesting any course related to biotechnology or biomedical......, He said dt job availability is high for the course.
I'm looking at September admission, pls all the gurus here should come to my aid plsss

I constantly keep seeing many people asking how to order gcms notes; although it's been answered hundreds of times on this Thread. I will just put it here on how to order GCMS NOTES!

How to apply GCMS / ATIP notes.
Only a person who is in Canada can request the notes. Get your sponsor to request on PA'S behalf!

If principal applicant is in Canada, he/she can request for himself and apply for free under Privacy Act.

If sponsor is requesting it on behalf of Principal applicant, you need consent form from PA and $5 fee. You can receive consent form from spouse via email and upload it. Apply under Access to Information Act.

It takes about 30 days to receive by email. It is a 30 pages document (can be more than 30 pages)

Consent form:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5744.asp

Section A - Principal Applicant details
Section B - Sponsor's details
Section C - Sponsor's details

GCMS Notes:

Since you are not a recent graduate, go for a program related to your present occupation. Biotech and Biomed are lucrative, but you will have challenges establishing the program's relevance to your present and career path.

Most schools require a 2.1 for masters; others consider a 2.2 if you did well in the last two years.

Don’t go for another degree to avoid the issue of redundancy unless you have a well-defined reason. Instead, go for a post-graduate cert or diploma.

The 10-year gap is not an issue.

Most schools exempt Nigerian graduates from taking IELTS.

Some years ago, most people preferred Atlantic provinces because their programs were favourable to temporary residents. Now, most provinces have PNP tailored for students and workers in their province. So, for now, focus on getting your study permit; you can go for a 2-yr program to get a 3-yr PGWP. Three years is enough time to accumulate the required Canadian work experience.

‘Quick’ PR depends on factors like Language test score, level of education completed, work experience, age, relatives in Canada etc.

God bless you for the quick response.
Pls when u say " post graduate diploma" do you mean I should go to college?
Sales representative job is a marketing job and I think dt is social sciences; I actually have a science background and I want to tow d line.

Somebody suggested "occupational health" in Cape Breton university, Novascotia

The long and short of my fear is " I want to study a course that is relevant both home and abroad".
I am soo sorry for the long epistles

2. You will probably need extension in the future or later for the intended program or to complete the program, your study permit won't go beyond the date stated on the validity of letter of introduction. Permit is issued and valid from and on the date you arrived in canada.whatever step you take next.. Take your previous LOA and new Loa with you to canada, you will need to explain the situations above to the POE officer. In the case if asked to explain..

Hello Here,

Good afternoon and trust everyone is keeping well, especially those in Nigeria.

The CBSA documents for my daughter just arrived, and the reasons provided by the VO shows an error on their end. - VO commented that POF will not cover for the accompanying 3 children and my daughter might not leave Canada at the end of study (see attached screenshot).

I showed almost 10,000 CAD as additonal available funds aside from my tuition, personal living expenses and daughter's living expenses. I have just one child, and the portion of POF I pointed out will be used for her was tagged as other costs on my own GCMS note, no reference to my daughter in my GCMS notes, even though details of my husband who is non-accompanying was detailed in the GCMS notes.

My study permit was approved on Dec 1st 2022 while hers was refused on Sept 1st 2022, even though both applications were submitted together. Refusal reason was insufficient funds on the refusal letter. I raised a reconsideration review earlier before I got her CBSA notes but haven't heard back from IRCC.

Do i proceed with a fresh study permit application for her, and include these details in the LOE, or follow up with the reconsideration reviews? I have a baby on the way who I intend to apply for by month end, so i really need constructive ideas on how to proceed.
