I laugh. Will naira scarcity stop import needs.

Those that need naira notes dont need to sell their dollars. They already have Naira in their bank accounts. So they just need to get the paper. So they are buying naira with naira. There is no FX gain.

The problem with the FX crisis doesnt have to do with dollar demand, but rather low dollar supply especially in the official market.

Lets even say all hoarders sell their dollars, how much do you think it will amount to. And will the total sum sustain the demand. After all the hoarded dollars is used to import, what will sustain the dollars market. Nothing.

Untill subsidy is removed, FPI influx and export grows, forget the fate of the Naira.

RabbiDoracle:

See the part in bold.

In November 2022, we warned about scarcity of naira which will be the effect of the new naira notes implementation come January 2023 and that effect is currently playing out all over the country today.

People are busy trying to find new notes to use and pay for some basic necessities/essentials and this is taking their minds away from speculative purchases of dollar while gradually accepting the use of electronic means of transfers.

While this is going on, any financial crash abroad that would ordinarily have caused people to flood into speculative dollar purchases in the past will not happen in Nigeria now because the people are busy finding money for their basic necessities. We will see how this plays out.

The next phase, in my opinion, will hurt those who are hoarding dollars. And that has already been outlined in the post above.

Actually what they recommend is 1.6 cent ÷ 10 = 0.16 United States of America cent per share. When converted into the Nigeria currency is the equivalent of about 66 kobo per share.

16% is very tempting for FGN 2049 bond auction slated for next week .

Hopefully we might get back to the days of about 18% yield

It is N50 million if you want to bid yourself, I buy through my bank and I allow to to bid for me. As a matter of fact I opened a Stanbic IBTC Bank account because of bond investments.

With N1 million they can bid for you in the monthly primary market offering, with about 200k they can bid for the in the secondary market which happens every business day

That is the essence of the bond secondary market on FMDQ which is more active than NGX

The yield in the secondary market fluctuates based on a inflation, interest rates and the economy, but once you have bought your yield is constant.

Eg, if you bought the 2049 FGN bond at a yield of 16% based on the price of the bond, you will enjoy the yield till 2049 or whenever you want to sell

You can't reinvest automatically, that is the reinvestment risk. That why some people get loans to buy when the yields are juicy and key into the yields.

I got yield of about 13% this time last year, now the yield is about 16%.

The yield in February 2024 might be lower or higher depending on the market and national economic dynamics

You see, when we tell members of this forum to make use of google, they think that we are fools. If the internet was not there, we would have blamed the whites for our level of ignorance, we would have accused them of allowing their children alone to go to school, while we remain slaves to them.

The internet has been here to level the field of education among all classes of people, no matter how rich or poor you are, as far as education is concerned, you are only limited by data and internet speed, in getting the information/knowledge that you seek.

Do you know that when nearly everyone was pouring their money into MBA Forex, we were the first in this forum to expose it as a scam/Ponzi scheme meant to finally defraud investors after meeting their target? Do you know how many threats we receive from gullible investors in this forum who thought that we are against their Messiah, some gullible investors were dreaming and even touting the owner of MBA Forex as their presidential candidate come 2023. We expose MBA Forex when they were paying consistently, so you should understand the magnitude of the attack since MBA Forex as at that time was yet to default in its payouts to investors. We don’t need to talk much. Go through the link below to know things for yourself. And for your information try to educate yourself in an area that you don’t know anything about in other not to disgrace yourself in a public forum like this again, by seeing everything as a scam.
