Sis don't get me wrong. I have no problem with individual opinions. I have no problem when you argue my position going forward. What I will not accept is attack because of my opinion based on what I believe and have clear fingers pointing towards it.The bear I strongly believe is coming. And i will take advantage of it to average down on the likes of Dan sugar and others. My warnings is to those trying to enter the market now.The truth is the catalysts that would have turned around the market *foreign investors. They are not coming anytime soon because of macroeconomic indices going forward .This is the same reason that made them pull out in doves in the past. The local players can not sustain any serious bull alone. This is my stand and no one has right to attack based on it
The country is too corrupt

During COVID, ZENITH went as low as 10.70, I bought around 10.75 with my breakeven as 11.
GT went as low as 16.70 or so......

Remember many bought higher before COVID occurred, it became an avenue for some with good cashflow to average down. Some took loans, some without fund did siddon look, etc.

Can't forget the efforts of @RabbiDoracle urging people to buy ZEE @ below 11 that time........with some convincing facts and all that.

Last time I checked, the market is being run by locals as most of our foreign guys exited long time ago. Reason why NSE is trying to float a program to attract young investors in Nigeria.
As for the bear, they will always come and go(this we don't know when)

The NGX is basically a market for trades on existing securities (in this instance equities). The price movements directly affect sellers/buyers of the equities, not the company (except for perception and valuation).

Companies largely raise capital via equity through public offers or private placements, handled by their issuing house(s), brokers(s) and other parties, after approvals from SEC at a fixed price. The capital raise could be promoted on the NGX if the company is already listed.

I do not think you get my question.Let me rephrase
Do investors buy more shares of a company that announces it will raise capital by issuing shares than normal?

Bros, you do have right to state your own opinion and perspective too.
You also did well to warn and caution us about market events. Not disputing this at all.......and I Blvd it was assisting some people in a way or two too.

Just know that we can't force things on anyone.....just like those giving predictions based on TA can't force anything on anyone.
You all are giving guides which are highly appreciated by someone like me sha.

However, what I do call you out for is about throwing shades at those with contrary opinion to yours.......as well as rubbishing Technical Analysis (TA), which is one of the strong tools used in investing.

Pls, we are all learning and I've always not been comfortable with someone talking down on the Ogas that are useful to us on this forum. Maybe more reasons they called me as*like*,.and me no send them. grin

I've tried not to comment on your recent posts (which looks more politically inclined) but just had to do so today.

Lastly,.see below post in Jan 11, I learnt a thing or two from it too. Let it be your focus and don't give room for distractions, especially on this forum.
Thanks. wink

My target for 2023 is how to grow my dividend from 7 figures to 8 figures. And if capital application happens the better. I will be seeking advice on stocks to hold and those to sell after election which I strongly believe will bring positive impact to the market.
I really need to rebalanced my portfolio to achieve that as I have too many companies on my portfolio.last count was above 30,lol

True.
Locals are more dominant in the market for quite a long time ago.
Can even remember we discussed about it here with someone posting tables to support that.

Lafarge Dividend Yield is better than Bua Cement

Dividend yield is not a true reflection of return capability.

A stock like Nigerian Breweries is showing a DY of 2.5% but when such moves, the capital gains is almost 50% some times while the high DY stocks would return like 10-20 of capital gains.

If a company plan to raise capital(on NGX) via equity issuance, will the share price go up, down, or remain stagnant?

Theoretically, the price should drop due to stock dilution. But NSE is in a world of its own and defies most known theories.

But my experience would say that the price would drop and if the company is a magomago company, I would say its name would become CI leasing or Caverton helicopters (aka KpaKpaKpakpaa)

Have you looked into the financials of Nigeria Brewery, I think the company is overrated.

Working capital was negative N150 billion in 2021 and inreased to negative N220 billion in 2022.

Return on equity of 6%, upon all the debts of the company. With the size of their debts the return on equity should be over 25%.

Nigeria Brewery is working very hard for the banks and the staff of the company, NOT for the shareholders

Wrong or right, at least the post don drag you out. E Ku 3 days. grin

OK. Don't know how I skipped the result but I've checked now.
The loss has been factored into the price, reason it was battered down to 8.35/8.50 I Blvd.

Since last week Friday especially, the activities in the stock has increased with some rushing today @N9.20 towards market close.
Let's keep watching what the renewed interest is all about.......maybe dividend is to be declared who knows.....
Though me I'm more about price appreciation and bargain junctions..... and do look out for this even in battered stocks.... smiley

The result was terrible. I least expected that based on how many companies made money out of inflationary pressures.

Based on this result, it needs to test March 2020 low of 3.8 or possibly lower. Wait at this point.

If you base your projections solely on FA and macro, then answer these questions :

February 24th 2020, many countries around the world started to close and lockdown due to the spread of the coronavirus. Stock markets fell globally on this day till March 16th 2020. Coronavirus disrupted businesses from that February 2020 till Q1 2021 when vaccines were started to be distributed. Many businesses failed during this time and many were still locked down around the world (during the said period). These were the macro factors that were prevalent then as a result of the virus. So based on these, one should not even be in the stock market between mid March 2020 till Q1 2021.

So,
(1) why did market rise after mid March 2020 till this 2023 (as for NGX) knowing that the virus was still raging in Nigeria and around the world as at 2020? Remember Nigeria locked down in March 2020 till May 2020 but NGX was gaining massively.

(2) You may have invested in NGX in March 2020 or afterwards knowing that the negative macro factors were still there and businesses closing. Why did you do that?

I'm not faulting your current gloomy take on the economy. We may be on the same boat since I am expecting something big especially in the western markets. However, I tend to disagree that only macro factors and FA perspective will explain stock market. Because if it is just these you mentioned, then from March 2020 till at least mid 2021, NGX should not have risen.

Many stocks started to disappoint lately. Look at Guinness and NBrew for example. 2020 was a bad year and they all released terrible results. And afterwards, they started to release good results (especially Guinness) and at a point paid N7 as dividend to the delight of investors. Based on this, I even forecasted that the stock could rise to N300 at the top price. But these companies seem to be producing shitty results lately and this could affect the brewers and send them very low again. As in very very low.

We wait and see how they both trade.
