Let them fall low so we can buy them.
I missed Guinness at N15.
It went up to N18 when I placed my order then.
I relaxed thinking it will come back to 15 or lower.
I will have my cutlass sharpened and waiting
this time.

RabbiDoracle:

Many stocks started to disappoint lately. Look at Guinness and NBrew for example. 2020 was a bad year and they all released terrible results. And afterwards, they started to release good results (especially Guinness) and at a point paid N7 as dividend to the delight of investors. Based on this, I even forecasted that the stock could rise to N300 at the top price. But these companies seem to be producing shitty results lately and this could affect the brewers and send them very low again. As in very very low.

We wait and see how they both trade.

If you base your projections solely on FA and macro, then answer these questions :

February 24th 2020, many countries around the world started to close and lockdown due to the spread of the coronavirus. Stock markets fell globally on this day till March 16th 2020. Coronavirus disrupted businesses from that February 2020 till Q1 2021 when vaccines were started to be distributed. Many businesses failed during this time and many were still locked down around the world (during the said period). These were the macro factors that were prevalent then as a result of the virus. So based on these, one should not even be in the stock market between mid March 2020 till Q1 2021.

I will speak based on nigeria market because it was dominated by locals. The truth is many Nigerians didn't believe in the covid spread in nigeria. It was highly politicised. That is why many till date never took the vaccine, I and most people I know never took it. And when it becomes necessary to present certificates for it.They tender oluwale certificates. Therefore, they saw it as temporary set back.
The present mood is a lost of hope to the investing public that the country is irredeemable from corruption. The image of the country out side is getting worrisome, ratings are dropping. The hunger is so high because of policy (cashless) which would have been good at long run but corruption has defeated it from beginning.
Therefore, the development during the covid could be viewed by the local investors as temporary but the present is that of of dead end.Which I maybe wrong .I have two family members in Turkey. I know how they have been complaining of inflation in recent times The still believe it will get better .And when I say come back home,they tell me nigeria and going forward is not an option ,lol.
The problem is people attach emotions to some post here.

Why is Transcorp jumping today. Is it due to this visit published yesterday https://www.nairaland.com/7602515/tony-elumelu-calls-tinubu-last. Or due to good results to be published shortly or the stock doing its normal up and down. But the demand today is unusually high.

Tony introduced Transcorp CEO and noted she asked him two questions at the NESG engagement wink

Pls, is there I way, formula, or any way of calculate the required amount needed to reinvest in a stock to average at a particular price aside "blind reinvestment" until the desired target is met. For instance, I I used #1000 to buy a share @ 2 per share, but the price fell by 30℅ to 1.40. How much do I need to reinvest to arrive at an average price of #1.40 if this price is unchanged.

Lol. I know say Na mathematics be this.

Yes, there is a formula to calculate the required amount needed to reinvest in a stock to average at a particular price. It is called the "Average Down" formula and it is used to calculate the amount needed to be invested at a lower price in order to bring the average price of the stock down to a desired level.

The formula for calculating the average down amount is:

A = (B * (C - D)) / (D - E)

where:
A = the additional amount needed to average down to the desired price
B = the total number of shares currently held
C = the desired average price per share
D = the current average price per share
E = the current price per share

Using your example, let's assume you bought 500 shares of a stock for a total of #1000 at a price of #2 per share. The stock then fell 30% to a price of #1.40 per share. Your current average cost per share is:

(500 shares * #2 per share) / 500 shares = #2 per share

To bring your average cost down to the current price of #1.40 per share, you would need to use the formula:

A = (500 * (1.40 - 2)) / (2 - 1.40) = 500

This means you would need to invest an additional #500 to bring your average cost per share down to #1.40.

E be like say this one na artificial intelligence Lol
No amount of additional buy can bring the average cost to 1.40. It will always be higher

I apologize for the mistake in my previous response. You are correct.

This is essentially an optimization problem. To achieve a price as close as possible to 1.4008, I calculated that the person would require an additional investment of #500,000.

Exactly…the best he could do is to average to around 1.41 or 1.42 and wait for the stock to rise just a little. That has been my strategy. Trying to go close to 1.40 will mean spending a lot. And what if the stock deeps again? So just average in trenches before you get high blood pressure. grin grin
