prophetwis:The joke here is on Nigeria. Why would one really want to be a ‘beggar’ in a foreign land if not for how terrible things are in Nigeria. In Nigeria you are just one huge ransom away from losing all your savings. You are at a higher risk of losing your life to avoidable things. In all, one shouldn’t just travel out without planning. You can learn new skills, get relevant and needed certifications and all. You can still get those big jobs in the UK but just as the OP said, you shouldn’t be selective especially when you are new because you need those menial jobs to survive. As for the fake accent part. One shouldn’t fake British accent (you may be shooting yourself on the foot), however, it is very important to learn how to pronounce words well and communicate better. This helps in interviews (especially for jobs that have to deal with meeting people). |

shegoon:Tinubu go soon change that narrative when one dollar goes down to as low as #50. All Nigerians in the UK will cry to come back home. Na overrated country. No wonder they are giving PG admission to every Tom Dick and Harry. |

Ishilove:Nigeria has made all of us to not know how good life can be! UK system is not designed for savings, but you will afford everything to live normal life. And if you get residency or citizenship, govt will pay you when you're unemployed or have disability (more than 50% of minimum wage). They take very good care of their people. This is why their immigration process is so tedious. Starting afresh is very tough (mental strength is important), but once you're balanced no one regrets relocating to UK! |

| Re: Some Tips About Living In Uk by Nobody: 11:56pm On Mar 24, 2023 |
MadarasBlade:Depends on how you see it. But of course you will have some savings if you discipline yourself. What are you saving money for? Build house? You already have mortgage you finish paying before you retire. Buy car? You already driving the latest, pay in 4 years. Travel to France? One week salary is enough. Sick? Healthcare is mostly free on insurance. Too old or disabled to work? Govt takes care of ALL your needs. Flamboyant life is what you cannot do unless you're rich, and you can't afford to waste anything, because you pay for everything. I know enough people there, I didn't read this on internet. |

| Re: Some Tips About Living In Uk by Nobody: 12:15am On Mar 25, 2023 |
MadarasBlade:If you have N10 million today and invest in relocating to UK through studies (IT related courses), it will be tough the first 6 months, but in 18 months, you would thank God you did it. But then N10m invested in Nigeria should save you from hustling life unless your village people get you. It's perspective really. With all this nonsense happening here I will never discourage anybody to japa. |

British Heart Foundation products are extremely expensive. Don't ever go there. There are several charity organisation that sell as low as 30p. Their products prices are the same as going to shops where they sell new ones. I repeat, don't go there. I had lived in the UK for about 22 yrs and I know what I was saying. |
