The midfield and defence from the core of that U20 team under Bosso would have done a better job than the benchwarming deadweights we paraded (save for Iwobi). Daga, Onuche, Jude Sunday, Ogwuche, Benjamin Fredericks and even our No 10 (I think Amunu is his name) should be added to the senior team and the likes of Ndidi, Aribo etc permanently dropped. While at it the likes of Orban, Victor boniface, Nwakali, Akinsanmiro, Nathan Tella and Akpom must be integrated into this team going forward...the only players that should be kept from this present crop are Osimhen, Iwobi, Bright Osayi Samuel, Aniagboso, Ebuehi and Ola Aina. Integrate the players I mentioned from the U20 set to this crop of players we should build the team around and then get in a Nigerian coach to manage this new core of players. Maybe we can look at the Remo stars coach? he has some exciting projects going with Remo stars...otherwise let's just take our chances with Finidi? it sucks we suffer from a dearth of quality Nigerian coaches.

If the Nigerian coaches aren't delivering, then we should try one of those South African or North African coaches within the continent...teams like Orlando Pirates, Wydad,Zamalek etc all play fantastic brands of football under their local coaches, they can bring that quality to a new look Nigerian team.

Players we should build around going forward:
Attack
Osimhen (make him the freaking captain as it appears he's the only one that cares)
Moffi
Gift orban
Victor Boniface
Chukwueze (he should be on probation)
Chuba Akpom( he can effectively play the creative forward role as he does at Middlesbrough)
Nathan Tella (effectively replaces Musa and Moses Simon on the wings)

Players that should be phased out in that attack are: Simon Moses, Onuachu, Musa, and Iheanacho and maybe Lookman if he keeps stinking up the joint.

Players we should build around in Midfield:
Midfield
Iwobi
Daniel Daga (U20)
Nwakali
Akinsanmiro
Eletu
Onuche (U20)
Jude Sunday (U20)
Eberechi Eze (England seems very unlikely for him, we now stand a better chance than before)
Lesley Ugochukwu (France is super stacked) so let's make a concerted move for this kid.
Ayaosi (a midfield gem in the NPFL).
Onyedika
Alhassan Yusuf

Players in midfield that should be moved along: Ndidi, Aribo, Onyeka, Etebo.

Players in defence/full back we should build around:
Defence
Benjamin Frederick (u20)
Ogwuche (U20)
Solomon Agbalaka (U20)
Bruno Onyemaechi
Osayi Bright Samuel
Ola Aina
Ebuehi
Olisa Ndah
Igor Ogbu

Players to be placed on probation: Bassey, Akpoguma, Zaidu, Ekong.

Goal keepers to build around:

Arthur Okonkwo
Chijioke Aniagboso
Adeleye
Any decent shot stopper we can find in the fringes of Europe.

probation: Uzoho, Maduka.

Manager: Any of Finidi, bring back Oliseh if possible, or any top African coach doing well within in North Africa.

Sacking Rohr was the right thing. As a team you want to progress. The problem is we didn’t go for an upgrade.

God bless You Sir...I do always tell those who care to listen, the last few days of Rhor was disaster.

Osimhen needs to boycott the S.E if they keep inviting players like moses simon, onuachu, chukwueze, osayi Samuel, ihenacho to the team.

That's like inviting 5 Insignes to the team, players who want to be the one to score the goals.

Osimhen can only thrive with players making him the focal point of attack, the person to pass to or cross to or play corners to..

Oga code, pls stop disrespecting other players just cuz of Victor Osimehn. Are you saying,Kelechi Iheanacho,Simon Moses and Paul Onuachu are mediocre and Osimehn should boycott eagles seeing their names on the list....I watched the match through the link provided here and I want to say Osimehn was poor yesterday just like other players....Time to stop exonerating Osimehn if eagles played poorly.

I didn't get to watch the whole game live but after watching the highlights, this is my take.

Peseiro is NOT entirely to blame. I judge a coach's tactical prowess based on the number and quality of goalscoring chances his team produces. Scorelines alone can be misleading. We were VERY unlucky not to score several times.

The fact is that we produced several good chances and knocked the ball around pretty good (Rohr's SE couldn't make three midfield passes without losing the ball).

Peseiro has a clear philosophy of low-passing possession-based football. This is what we yearned for under Rohr. Sadly, such football needs two things that we don't have; a good, smooth pitch, and a cerebral midfield.

Tactically, I give Peseiro a pass mark. Player selection is his only issue for me. And I blame that on the greedy NFF that wants to sell Yummy players at all cost, not the coach.

Fellow Nigerians, abeg make we get small patience with Peseiro. The man is cooking something delicious. Watch how we will trounce GNB on Monday.

You just confirmed my take..
On a better pitch, we would beat these GB guys silly, even with these same set of players
The pitch really affected our plays
I really hope GB has a better pitch at least, or SE can switch to long ball strategy if the pitch isn't smooth for short crisp passes..

Finally they should learn to take more shots
Chuks started doing so late in the game
I wish they took more shots, we would have won by atleast 3

Overall, I give JP and the players a pass mark
I saw his input
Our passes were better and we actually created chances which was difficult under Rohr

In the second half, I liked our intensity

While we work on our midfield, I believe we can still achieve a lot with these current crop of players

Victor was frustrated I understand, but he should calm down or he would get unnecessary cards

Good football overall..
On another day, all those chances we missed would have gone in

I think the coach did his job
I give him a 6
I blame the pitch more than JP and the players

Better pitch again?Peseiro lost four straight games for God sake.JP scorecard is the worst in eagles history and really surprised we are still rating JP.....What I hate most is bringing theoretical analysis in evaluating a very poor team with terrible coaching abilities that a blind man can see...my man I disagree with your view on Peseiro.

Forget the results for a moment and look at the actual plays
We created almost 15 clear cut chances in this game
When last did we have that?

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 8:30am On Mar 25, 2023
What I think is that this is an extremely reactionary post.

Some of the players you put up for "phasing out" or probation are still needed.
Ndidi, Lookman, and even Onyeka are still needed. Zaidu, Bassey, Iheanacho, Etebo, Chukwueze are also still needed.

Our major problem is personnel deployment AKA Right tactical balanced selections and True Sound Coaching. Jpes doesn't know how to pick a balanced XI neither does he know the formations that can bring out the best in these lads and it is a very serious issue. He is just running on residual vibes based on whatever wyscout stuff he showed and scammed Pinnick with.

Normally, we were expected to get a result against Bissau no matter what but lo and behold, we just couldn't. The limitations in the team were glaring. This team at the Afcon didn't even give Bissau a chance to hurt us. They created no actual big chances against us at the Afcon. But now, they come to our home and create 2 big chances and even scored from one of them. A serious downgrade from how we approached them last time.

I am not blown away by the fact that we created chances after we went down. We were always supposed to create chances against freaking Bissau but we didn't even create enough Big Chances. Just 2 against the 3 we created the last time we met them.

Of all the chances created, Our Midfield could only muster up 1 chance created combined as against 5 chances created the last time we met this Bissau team. That is POOR. Very POOR from a midfield point of view. Peseiro isn't picking a balanced middle and it is affecting our plays and making us resort to scatter-gun improvisation approaches in manufacturing chances.

Several of the chances came via spamming hopeful crosses or laying on hopeful passes that didn't actually threaten directly at goal and little wonder Osayi-Samuel recorded the most chances created at 3 and 100% accurate crosses.

Let me add this note...
We play Bissau again on Monday. Are we gonna beat them? Well, I trust we would respond and win but I still would not rate Peseiro based on any result he gets on Monday because fact remains we were always expected to trounce Bissau. We beat them with a second team at the Afcon and now we struggle to get a result against same side with our midfield looking so lost. Winning on Monday changes nothing. Peseiro is not tactically sound to handle this side.

Finally, Some of the youngsters you mentioned like Akinsanmiro Ebenezer, Benjamin Frederick or Chijioke Aniagboso aren't ready to step in RIGHT NOW. Would need a couple of months or more stepping up to really get into gear for the senior level.

And for coaching options, if I don't see Emmanuel Amunike on your list, but I see a finidi or an oliseh then maybe we aren't ready to have a conversation about our coaching problems.

That's what I think. Gracias.

I've seen many posts about how poor our midfielders and defenders are.

That is not the point here. Our midfielders and defenders are good enough by African standards. BUT when you play tactics that ensure they are always outnumbered and the ball is always flying over theirs heads from stupidly trying the rush the ball up front to the better players THEN you have a problem.

We were playing with foolish unrequired urgency from the the first minute! Right into the hands of the opponent's. It was glaring what kind of game the Guinea Bissau players had prepared for. It wasn't so clear what we had prepared for. Finish.

Nope they are rubbish actually. We were just worse.

They have made 4 straight AFCONs to our 2. We all saw how they played Egypt in the last AFCON. Guinea Bissau might not be one of the top African sides but they are definitely not rubbish.

At this point, I don't mind having nwakali a few good midfielders in NPLF in the midfield, Nwakali is slow but even Mikel Obi was, his talent is evident.

A game is mostly won in the midfield but we keep reminding our inept and clueless coaches how important it is to have performing midfielders in our team regardless of where they ply their trades.

Nwakali is a talent, every midfielder mustn't be a work horse, we need midfielders with football sense who can make right passes in a split second.

Secondly, we don't have a coach and we seriously need one

One reason why we failed to create enough chances yesterday was because Iwobi was far away from their box. we need him to be closer to the final third.

I still can't believe we conceded that goal yesterday. Very comical... The fine girls in the stadium must have distracted Akpors and Bassey that they didn't know when that guy sneaked between them. grin

People won't admit this because that would mean they have to admit that the other teams that played there were also at a disadvantage. In Nigeria, if u lose it must always be because you were poor. This is the reason why a F9 student will leave Nigeria and become a valedictorian abroad. Other people actually look for the cause to problems instead of blindly throwing blame.
