I don't think there is anything like storing fuel safely; na when yawa never gas person dey think say he store fuel safely.

Safety is relative. Maybe one can say as safely as possible. Some are very careless with their storage.

Electric spark can lead to serious fire if u store fuel anywhere within ur premises.

If you live alone in the house and if you have industrial Jerrycans, it can work. But it is very very unsafe.
You know where one can get these industrial jerrycans?

I'm targeting 250-300 litres, I work from home, so whatever I'm storing would be primarily to fuel gen when devices are down and at night. One of my neighbours said he's going to store 1000 litres, have another that always stores fuel throughout the year, scarcity or not, and he has at least 15 jerrycans. Store according to how you use....

Interesting. shocked

Honestly doc, it's like where do you even start to have these kind of conversations.

Up to 67% of Tory 'Senators' had zero local link to the constituencies the represented in Parliament.

People in UK largely vote for party not individuals. I don't even know who my MP is, I just know I vote Labour.

If you live in lagos and you go to anywhere where plastic containers are sold and say you are looking for chemical Jerry can. You will be directed to someone selling. They are used and have been used to store acid or peroxide. They used to be very cheap and maybe they still are if you can get to their ground zero, because Las Las these are containers disposed of by chemical companies.

The best form of safety is not to store it at all. I once witnessed a building nearly razed down due to this fuel storage wahala; even the road for fire fighters to access the building was not accessible. They had to stay on the main road while stretching their hose to reach the building in a tight corner.

BREAKING

INEC has scheduled supplementary governorship elections in Kebbi and Adamawa states on April 15

Fintiri of PDP will win Adamawa State. The Adamawa REC should just respect himself and do the needful.

PDP is leading with over 30k plus votes. INEC cancelled 69 PUs because of over voting. Thanks to BVAS.

The total votes for the 69 PUs cancelled is 37, 016 all things being equal. Also there's a ward that election didn't take place.

I think Fintiri will win this one. My thought.

I remember what my dad did was to first outlaw any sort of lantern or source of flame in the house. All we had at home were battery-powered torches. Next was to keep the fuel and the gen almost a plot away and far from each other.

He also limited who and who could go to the gen house to refill. Once the certified people were not at home everybody had to persevere with no electricity until they got home. We worked round this by ensuring the gen was always full and ready to go.

The guy knocked that paranoia you talked about into all of us.

The kind riot and protest that will happen once fuel subsidy is gone without the necessary cushion for the masses will be unprecedented.

Buying 400 due to scarcity is different from knowing you will be buying it 750 everyday. Everywhere go burst. cheesy

This fuel subsidy if removed will bring the mother of all sufferings, buying fuel around the country for 750+ is different from buying fuel for around 300/litre in a couple of states...I don't think they're selling fuel at the moment anywhere for that 500 range.

Our leaders have failed us for too long, Nigeria isn't poor because we didn't and still don't have enough to be okay. If they remove this fuel subsidy, it'd be incredibly rough.

What is your opinion about the subsidy thing and if you are president today what will you do about it

We have been kicking the subsidy stone down the road ever since and it looks like we cannot expect any meaningful development as long as we have subsidy

We have to keep kicking it down the road till necessary cushion are in place. Until electricity is stable to a large extent, fuel subsidy should remain in my own opinion.

Cost of fuel is associated with almost everything in the country, small fuel scarcity we know how prices of things use to skyrocket, now imagine fuel going from 180 to 750, price of everything will go over the roof with salary and wages remaining constant.

It’s the perfect recipe for chaos and anarchy.

Phased removal over a three to four year period.

The biggest issue with the subsidy removal thingy is the mistrust of government and probably a definite plan on how the money it frees up will be used to ease the suffering of the everyday Nigerian. LGA autonomy, and a sincere subsidy removal plan should unlock the Nigerian economy.

I posted a rejoinder, there's been periods where it was easier to remove subsidy, during Jonathan's era I think it was supposed to be a 100% increase or so...today were looking at around a 300% increase.

The mistrust between the Nigerian government and it's people has made this subsidy removal thing a difficult issue. BATs government is shaping up to be one of the most mistrusted governments in recent time, don't know how he's going to pull it off successfully and prevent chaos.

We spoke about this thing last year.

Like play, like play, it's finally here.

There's no dodging it.
All these talk of extending or easing it is just waste of time.
We've basically prolonged doomsday for so long.
We had 8yrs to sort it out and yet here we are.

If tinubu makes mistake of extending it, we will be foolish to rejoice because where e go see the money take pay subsidy, still service our debts then still fund budgets..

For me it's just a very very hitter pill Nigerians will have to swallow going forward.

I've always favored phased removal... yanking it off at once might prove too difficult for a Nigerian populace that has little trust in the government.

There will never be a time when it will be better. Under Jonathan everyone thought the 100% was outrageous, Now you think 300% is terrible, In the future we will be saying 500% 700% is bad

Its like chloroquine, bitter but close eye once and swallow it. I am not sure it will get better

The mistrust of govt will never go in any democracy, even in America there is mistrust of govt by almost half of the country

Phased removal was what govt told us they were ding for the past 20yrs plus and today more and more money are being spent on subsidy than ever before

Maybe we need to face our realities once instead of pandering to sentiments, This wound of subsidy has festered for so long and its rotten, smelling and we keep applying bandaid instead of tackling the rot

I swear ..u don't have d slightest understanding of what is going on in Nigeria.

I mean d rate of poverty in d land and d dependence on fuel for every thing

More than 50% of Nigerian graduates (age 23 to 40 )are surviving with uber n bolt(even on hire purchased)...no job whatsoever for them......just think about how it will affect them .

I think a one time removal will be d recipe for revolution

The problem for me concerning this subsidy is an issue of "trust".

In an advanced country or democracy, if the government says, we're taking money away from this venture and funneling or diversifying it into another venture, but there might be short term pain for long term gain, people can then boldy argue the merits or demerits of the issue but knowing for sure that those funds would not be tampered with.l and everyone can monitor how those public funds are used.

So for me Personally, if Obi is president today and is telling me, he will remove subsidy and the funds will be diverted towards other more fruitful venture, I'm more inclined to believe this knowing his antecedents with handling public funds and knowing the obstacles he overcame to win that seat.

However, in a kakisto-plutocracy under BAT which is surely going to continue our rotten style of absolutely corrupt politics of and for the elite, how on earth do I sacrifice the little gain to suffer times 10 when I know the money gotten will simply be funneled towards corrupt politicians pockets again?

Jonathan slashed subsidy by a bit and set up the "subsidy scheme" in 2013 or so, we all saw how that scheme became another venue for government corruption.

If there was trust in the government, then we could argue the merits and demerits of subsidy, but the fact that the government about to enforce this is one that was announced like a thief in the night with a stolen certificate. I have no personal desire to suffer for a lost cause.

Could as well be having a weight lifting target of 100kg, but building up slowly to it from 30kg.

A phased removal over a 3-4 year period isn't too long... Jonathan's time to now is 8 years already, if we'd removed it then, the economy would have adjusted, even if Buhari removed it between 2019 and 2023, we'd have adjusted. Most of the guys that protested Jonathan removing subsidy then knew that was the way to go, but because of politics, they opposed it, now that it's more difficult for the average Nigerian to bear the removal, they're now acting like subsidy is the drug that will fix all of Nigeria's problems...this is part of the mistrust I'm referring to..
