If you do a transfer at an ATM it sometimes shows the name and other times no name.
So it's very possible to make the error.

Thanks heaven say I dey use correct bank. They worked with my service provider and help me reverse the airtime to my number.

This is a mistake that can happen if you suffer a distraction or momentary lack of concentration when processing a transfer transaction

In my own case, it was a situation of transferring airtime to the wrong number. I wanted to buy airtime for myself 5k to be precise for sub, little did I know that I mistanly type 3 instead of 4 at the end of the number I field..

Omo that day ehn, e pain me die no be here, and the funny thing is that I wanted to use the sub to work..chai, the receiver go thank God now, say na blessing from above.

It happened to me yesterday, I was driving and trying to transfer fund from one of my account another and I realized I transferred N10,000 to my ex girlfriend when I got home.

Yes, to my church acc. I was to transfer 5k, i transferred 50k.

My pastor refunded the money back when i called the church office. I then transfferred the 5k to the church account.

Your pastor has earned my respect. Most pastors I know would have refused to refund that money, claiming it was the will of God and not a mistake

My own experience transferring money to another person account was a very bitter experience with access bank, that was around August 2016, I mistakenly sent #20k to somebody's account at access bank Nnewi branch while my account is domiciled in Lagos, the funniest part is that I wrote a letter to access bank informing them of the erroneous transfer, I was told to get court affidavit, police report, which I did, but till this moment the money was not reversed, despite various email correspondence. Access bank no try at all.

I don't think that type of matter can be settled by just calling customer care.

You would have to write a letter for documentary purpose

I mistakenly transferred 10k MTN credit card to the senator representing my area... originally, the card was meant to be transferred to a lady friend in Lagos. I immediately put a call to the senator and inform him it was a mistake. Though, I have never met the senator, since my family name is popular in my state (Local Government),I mentioned my family name to convince him that I'm not a scammer!

Dumb or not, mistake is a mistake. Especially when one is in a hurry or absent minded...

Happened to me Last two weeks. 7k . It was when I saw the transaction receipt, I saw an entirely different name. Was shocked.

It's not Access Bank's fault. the person you erroneously transferred the money to must give consent before they can reverse the transaction in order to refund your money

Ya, 154k wanted buying a phone with it, sent de money through USSD code to the wrong acct. Luckly 4 me the lady i sent the money to used to be a friend. Na with abeg and some bribing the lady send me back the money, the annoying part be say the money self no still complete even after bribing her... I just kukuma leave her for God.

Police once arrested me and asked me to send money for bail, I was under pressure and sent it to the wrong account. I had to send another one to them before they let me go all because I am a trader.

Happened bout two weeks ago
Made a transfer an already saved but forgotten beneficiary account

I guess I save it long time ago so I have forgotten the person. Sometime I save pos account details for easy transfer.
I know bank will ask me for some kinda document from court to retrieve the money so I just forget it.
I use vex delete all save beneficiary accounts that I don't know...
Now I just have family and friends on my account beneficiary list

I have not really made such mistake, but i have come across such cases at my place of work. Infact it's a normal issue that we face weekly.

My experience was on February this year when I erroneously transferred to a wrong account just because I have the wrong person on my Bank App Beneficiary list but I can not remember the person.
I reported this transaction to my Acct Manager but he said the man needs to come to the branch to authorise him/the bank to credit me.
What my Acct Manager could do was to send me the receiver phone no which I pleaded with him to pay me back but he told me that he believed God has answered his prayers.
He said the same bank has been debiting his acct anyhow.
In summary, I gave his no to my Pastor who helped me talk to him and he voluntarily refunded me yesterday.

Yes, i was supposed to transfer 15k to Samson A for teaching me how to drive but sent the money to Samson B an old timer wey bill me that morning.

Samson B reciprocated sometime later gifting me 10k and still thanking me for the 15k i sent him the other day. He never knew it was a mistake and i intended giving him 3k.

I once received 1k airtime. Shortly someone called and requested I sent it back. I inquired why I received it ab initio, he said we have Identical number. I asked him to call me with that identical number. It happened that the only difference between our numbers is that mine is 080 while his is 070.

Recipients name and bank is there for you to confirm before sending so I don't understand how people make that foolish mistake.
