I am a Medical Laboratory Scientist and I can conclude from your post you are not even aware of the cost of the procedure you were counseled on. Prenatal genetic screening is not for those earning less than seven digit income monthly. It is a specialized and very expensive procedure with risks because of probing through the womb to collect samples, the trauma of having to do an abortion if it turns out SS, trust me you are planning on embarking on a very uphill journey.

Bro candid advise, just let her go. Believe me, you can't deal with this journey you wanna embark on. It's majorly liable to be a risky one. I learnt of a couple that took that lane, its 15years+ no accurate match yet. Now imagine how many times they might have terminated.
I had no choice than to call mine off. That love might fade when the difficult moments sets in.

A word is enough for the wise. In the proposed marriage, abortions will take place if a foetus tested turns out to be SS which has high probability. Why venture into some you already know has a lot of potential but avoidable dangers and involves a lot of money, money that can further be wasted.

Did you bother to ask how much this procedure cost? It's quite expensive you know, and may God help you if you reside in Nigeria. The best bet is to look for another girl bro. That thing you call love will disappear from your eyes the moment you guys mistakenly birth an SS child. The suffering and cost of maintenance outweigh the love you have for that girl now. A word is enough for the wise! It's not worth it!!!

It requires common sense! It's possible that you may give birth to an SS and this may bring distress to you and your family. Why not pray to God to give you a better person.

U are mentioning 1/4 probability but u have no knowlege of how the body makes its gene selection outcome during embryogenesis...

..in reality, the 1/4 probability used in secondary school biology is rightly stated as 25% probability..... because humans can birth more than 4 children at once or at different birthing cycles........whats worse is that the body can choose out of the probability pool of 25 AA, 50 AS and 25 SS whenever it wants cos embryogenesis is on autopilot...

So ....two AS couples can have 3 children and they can all be AS, SS, or AA... they can also be mixed..

.news flash... my aunts 3 children are all SS...

The bolded is what some just don't understand, the odds may be in their favor and they have AAs all through irrespective of the no of kids , same way it can be SS all though.

Any of the kids can be SS, 1st, 5th, 100th whichever no. Same way they can be AA or AS, there's a higher probability for AS but what if the SS gene is selected multiple times.

it's simply a random selection. It's not like anything can be done to influence it.

You ought to have known your partner's genotypes even before going on a relationship with them.Please don't make a terrible mistake by bringing an innocent child to this world to come and suffer. Kindly find another partner who their genotype matches with yours before considering marriage. A risky venture to say the least shocked

I would advise you both to break off this relationship. It's (the technology) not as straight forward as it seems.
It's like rolling a dice continuously, bear it in mind there's a possibility of not getting lucky with an AA or AS foetus
Don't bring a child into the world to suffer the consequences of your decision. The child would curse you both, every day of his/her existence.

u just want to stress urself for nothing. Nigeria here, where doctor they advice you to check ur genotype twice meaning say they are never sure of their test. Na the same place u want go begin test foetus.
The had truth is that u have to leave that girl u will get a better one. I know say na ur fear be that.
Don't take this advice softly because I was there for 3 times before I finally got married.

My wife and I are AS. Though we did not lie about it to our families but the resistance was too much from her own family. We weigh a lot of issues that are bigger than genotype, like what of if I marry another person and she couldn't conceive and many others like that. But what really helped us is that we had great convictions in the relationship and I have peace being around her.
We have two kids so far and they are both AA, Female and male. If u love the woman very well and u are ok with her character, I beg u go ahead. Don't try to please anyone. If u have the money to do pre-testing and Ur wife is in agreement kindly go ahead. Few good women are outside there and the rate of divorce is alarming. May God almighty guide Ur step.
