Good morning my people, I am writing you people at this delicate hour of 12:39am because my son's condition, it's getting worse by the day.
Dandruff wants to kill this beautiful boy, I know it's weird because we all know, myself included that dandruff doesn't kill, but watching myself lose a part of my son everyday.
He's been suffering from this condition for over 6yrs now, we've gone to the hospital and after buying and using all the prescribed drugs (Nizoral shampoo, selsun blue, head and shoulders, tea tree oil, miconazole cream, ketoconazole cream, terbinafine cream, fluconazole tablet, terbinafine tablet: almost killed my son, griseofulvin etc) nothing has changed, instead it's getting worse by day.
From complaining of headaches, to weakness (my son that was filled with energy and plays all the time now barely moves, he is always one place complaining of tiredness and pain), to joint pains, to confusion.
According to him, this dandruff has ate up his scalp so much that he can now taste his bathing soap on his tongue the moment he washes his head. We are now scared of washing and applying anything on his head because he will complain of tasting whatever we put on his head in his mouth and he will start having reactions. It's almost as if the skin on his scalp no longer protects him from outside soaps and other ingredients.
The moment he washes his head, his lips and tongue will swell up and he will start having reactions. My once active and lovely boy is now a shadow of himself. He's refusing to play, always complaining of tiredness and pains.
Pls help me my people, I don't know what to do anymore. This is not dandruff. It is a fungal dermatophytosis. Get terbinafine 187.5 mg once daily for 7 wewks. Tab erythromycin 250mg 3 times daily for 10 days. Tab Vit C use 1 daily for 2 months. I won't give up on him...thank u for ur contribution, I appreciate. Please don’t do this. Consistently bathing your son with high salt content can do him harm. From what he (your son) has told you, he has open sores on his head that absorb whatever is applied. Stop all medication and see a Dermatologist, forget how specialized the name sounds; very good ones with decades of experience can give you consultation for as low as N5,000. You son seem to have some form of acute dermatitis, what @Segzy19 described is the optimal solution but see a dermatologist first so you can be sure. Prednisolone and hydrocortisone cream prove to be effective in a case of acute dermatitis, you should see results in a month and expect all traces to be gone in 6 month or more BUT these drugs shouldn’t administered without proper prescription especially when the patient is a child. 4 Likes |

Your boy reminded me of my elder bro, we almost lost him to this.
The stuff was there till secondary school level if I could remember well. It was a painful experience for him, my mum shaved and shaved and apply all those prescriptions and other drugs too. Then the last one that almost took his life was when he was to take 16 injections, omo, It was really a sad experience. But we thank God he scaled through.
Pray for your boy and visit a good health center. Your boy is destined for greatness know that. How did your brother's scalp clear? You didn't say just long story. If it's spiritual, say it as it is and ask him to pray. If it's health related, state the clinic he used or treatment he received or say you can't remember. Your solution is too vague. 1 Like |

Scrap his scalp with new razor so there's visible bleeding or release of fluid.
Rub with raw soda for washing plates, (Can be very painful).
Introduce him to forlic acid and garlic.
Trust me, in less than a month you'll see a sharp turn in fortunes for his health.

Hi 7david7, Just go get a referral to a Teaching hospital and get a refined dermatologist or specialist. They need to do a culture test to ascertain what exactly is causing the issue. Also a lifestyle change might be required. I remembered having to ditch fish, butter and eggs while growing up due to my body not been able to fully synthesize anything with high protein content. Also had to stop using anything soap that was medicated or anticeptic. Used Imperial leather all my young life for body and just water for rinsing the face and hair. He might have dry hair and you applying these soap that contains high amounts of caustic soda might even be complicating it more. Do not wash his hair with soap for now. So better to go with a specialist than just applying different medicine. You already gone through a list of them Nizoral, ketoconazole etc. Also note that these fungal infections are very stubborn and might require months long treatment before you see any improvements. Don't mind people who say they are spiritual. But why would you even use Terbinafine on a boy? That medicine is always not recommended or recommended as a last resort. That's an extreme one. Stay off any medication. Go to the Teaching hospital. They would run a series of tests and confirm exactly what he is either reacting to or the causative. 1 Like |

I am really sorry about your son's condition. I wish for him to power through and become fully healed of it.
Like a few people have already said on this topic, this isn't dandruff it's eczema. A particular type of eczema that mainly affects the scalp.
You said in your post that you've been using soap and ointments on your son's head. If you care to notice, all that has only worsened your son's condition as is the case with eczema.
Most cosmetic soaps and creams only worsen skin conditions such as eczema. My advice is that you desist from using cosmetic products on your son's scalp and use only products that you can confirm are mostly herbal or organic.
Also, I suggest you find a medicated hair cream, such as Damatol or Sulfur8 to apply regularly on your son's scalp.
Lastly, from the picture you uploaded, it seems his scalp is likely also infected. I say so because eczema is not an infectious disease, it is causes by irritation, meaning that by itself it shouldn't look like what you posted, as what you posted looks more like an infection than an irritation.
Like I've already said, I'm not an expert and so I can't say for sure if the infection is bacterial or fungal, but since fungal infections are more common on the scalp than bacterial infections, if I were to guess, I'd say it's a fungal infection. So I would also suggest you buy an anti-fungal cream to apply periodically.
If you can, also try to find a dermatologist to consult about your son's condition, not just a doctor.

Use bitterleaf on his head though it will be hot on him, allow it to stay for like 30mins to hours before u wash it off, after which u apply Chelsea drink on his head ...
Note: It can be done after cutting all the hair from his head ie skin cut.
It works perfectly on my little siblings head and the don't HV any in their head up till today.. |

Get the black label soulmate sulphur from supermart, sulphur itself (You can get that from elewe - Omo people); it's a rocky yellow substance like this. Also, treat him with antibiotics drugs.
Ground the sulphur to powder and mix it with the soulmate cream. Scrape off his hair and apply in the morning, afternoon and night.
You'll be very glad with the result after 2 months, trust me

We are now scared of washing and applying anything on his head because he will complain of tasting whatever we put on his head in his mouth and he will start having reactions. It's almost as if the skin on his scalp no longer protects him from outside soaps and other ingredients.
The moment he washes his head, his lips and tongue will swell up and he will start having reactions. My once active and lovely boy is now a shadow of himself. He's refusing to play, always complaining of tiredness and pains.
Pls help me my people, I don't know what to do anymore. I've tried every hospital and everything, I've done all I know, and now I'm watching my son deteriorate gradually before my very eyes without having a clue what to do, pls I beg you, help him, help me. Since you have tried the hospital and no positive change, obviously this is a spiritual case. Dandruff doesn't get this bad.
Please take him to Winners Chapel to see a pastor , with regular use of anointing oil and taking communion whatever it is will let go of him My people perish for lack of knowledge. You need help! 1 Like |

ok, I'll do that, hopefully this works. I'm exhausted already trying different things, if me the caregiver is getting exhausted, I can only imagine how he feels. I won't give up on him...thank u for ur contribution, I appreciate. there’s a medicine called grezovine, I don’t know if the spelling is right though but you can get it from a chemist store. It’s an oral medicine, let him take the dosage and it will will clear. If have used it on a boy I used to know. His own was even worse than this, his was almost getting rotten sef. See if you can get the oral medication let him take it. |
