Is it your money? Answer yes or no!!! Tinubu is the big deal in Nigerian politics. He never held any federal appointment and you can’t answer simple question. Obi held federal appointments and made money from Jonathan and Obasanjo.

These new developments are exciting. It's good to read something good once in a while. But trust Nairalanders to mess it all up with tribalism.

I’m sorry to break it to you, Obi’s name will not be mentioned when we are talking about Governors who delivered. While he was not an ‘Ikpazor’ or a ‘Kalu’, he didn’t break much grounds in the state that you can trace. I was a student of Unizik from 2016 to 2011, so I know his government to an extent.
I don’t hate Obi, I hate the way people are making excuses for him to force him down our throats. He’s also the reason why APC was not kicked out of power after what we went through in the last 8years.

yeah, but Ekiti does not need an airport for now.
Even Ibadan Airport, as big as ibadan is still very much not viable as many airports in Nigeria.
Calabar Airport, Crossriver is wealthier, bigger and more cosmopolitan than Ekiti still is not as busy as airports Lagos, Abuja, Port harcourt, owerri, Benin and Kano.

Infact, owerri has about 4 more traffic than calabar, not to talk of an airport in Ekiti. Waste of time

Baba I once though that some states (Ekiti) do not need an airport but instead they should concentrate more on expanding intrastate roads and if viable intra state rail networks, but then I'm not in the government and I don't know the reason surrounding their choosing of airports over the later.
I think we have to look at the bigger picture here, some of this airports are not a stand alone project, take for example Ekiti airport is not just meant for an transport alone, it's part of a bigger project-the Ekiti economical free knowledge and technology zone which is meant to attract fdi and even funding from the Africa bank, also note that the Nigeria airforce will also key in to construct a base with larger airwing in that zone. In fact small terminal is for temporary uses as it can be further upgraded if future plans are met.
Many airports today are in concomitant with free trade zone, for easy access to area of products, reducing logistics hurdles and as a plus commercial air operation.

So it's not a waste, if they can key into the vision of making it larger than just passenger transport

Omo ehn .. these airport designs are crap.

* Anambra airport design looks like a warehouse.
* Ebonyi airport design looks like a hotel/lounge. I thought it was one of Obi Cubana's hotel.
* Ekiti people, una mumu still never clear for una eyes. See that girl saying that the commissioning offers her the opportunity to see a white man. Haba!!! Nawa ooo.
To my Ekiti people, how can you commission a project you are yet to complete?

These projects shows that they were used to siphon the resources of the state.

The ebonyi airport is equivalent to Don Moen's message on overplaying in music.
Too much of everything isn't good.
It looks too busy and fugly

The people in government are building it for themselves, they know that it won't be viable. They are just not comfortable with having to flying to Lagos or ibadan and then move to Ekiti.. Tat airport will not bring any form of substantial investment to Ekiti.. Na only government people with few rich people go dey use am. Because of this, airlines won't see it as an attractive opportunity, the market is not just there.

Ststes like Ekiti should look at investments that will immediately increase business activities in the state, grow the GDP and HDI, it is when they have done this that people will see needs to fly to Ekiti and then you can now build an airport. There no need now because no one is going to Ekiti by air. There's no need for top business people to land in Ekiti, na mostly business people dey fly

SW is indeed a backward region. It's just Lagos that is covering the rot in that region. What they call airports in that region are worse than say some bus station. Even airports in the most remote parts of North are far far better! Look at what they built in Ekiti as airport in 2023, this rubbish won't even be acceptable in South Sudan or Congo but these people think it's okay.

The buses they ride on in their cities, be it ibadan, Abeokuta etc are always small and rickety. Their houses too, normal average people won't want to live there. They're the odd ones in Southern Nigeria.

Omo, you can't buy class, if you have it, you have it. If you don't have it, you don't have it.
That ekiti airport is just an airstrp not a full fledged airport

Ebonyi State is one state with sooooo little and their governor keeps delivering mind-blowing infrastructural projects. Give Dave Umahi the kind of money Lagos or Rivers has, he will turn his state to Dubai.

In fact, other state governors in Nigeria should be taking lectures from him about how he achieved all this with so little.

Someone should create a thread of what Dave Umahi did in 8 years so as to blow people's minds here. When it comes to infrastructure, that man is only in competition with himself.

Umahi shouldn't be in the Senate, he would have been more useful as Minister of Works. Or they should create a Ministry of Infrastructure and make him the Minister.

Una too dey like fooling yourselves with inanities. What will be the impact of an airport in a state like Ebonyi? What's the minimum wage in Ebonyi? How many hospitals of world-standard are in Ebonyi? Number of beds in public osputals? Doctor-per-patient ratio?
Last time I checked, Ebonyi is still considered among the educationally-least developed states in Nigeria.

Leadership at the national level transcends building infrastructure. What Peter Obi is proposing is a total overhaul of the Nigerian state (instilling sanity and the rule of law) and expanding our economic frontiers (we call it diversification here).

There's so little the state can do in those areas. We need those more than anything else.

By the way, I noticed that you don't like Peter Obi, so you are likely going to attack him in your rejoinder to this comment. Sorry, bros, I won't react to it.

I don't know why some stupidiots are over hyping Obi that saved the state fund to invest in his own ogogoro business.

Which sanity are talking about while reasonable people are talking about viable and laudable project.
Did Obi instill that your sanity when he governed for 8 years in Anambra?
Do you think anyone can rule Nigeria without constitution?
Do you think obi as a president can tame the governors or fire anyone that constitution put in place?

Forget sanity, that what people think Buhari will bring but the system humbled him.
If Buhari, a military man cannot tame the system, is it obi that is a civilian that will do it

Same thing was said about Akwa Ibom when they were building theirs. Today how far?

Akwa Ibom is still not one one of the top 10 airports in Nigeria by passenger traffic. For an airport to be viable, it must be located in a place with high economic activities or be a connecting hub to other cities. Ebonyi and Ekiti are none of that. They are pure white elephant projects embarked upon to massage the egos of the governors

Ebonyi Airport is far superior in terms of infrastructure. Umahi really did work there...
I have come to the conclusion that Anambra people are the biggest chestbeaters and noisemakers in Nigeria. With all the useless noise they made when the airport was opened and were even disparaging others. I could remember one idiot saying that all the airport will surpass other airports except Lagos within one year of operation... Lol...What a joke...
It is still the least patronized airport in the Southeast and one of the least in Nigeria.. Onitsha people would rather use Asaba Airport...
Ebonyi airport will serve many locations because there are no airports in that area and the axis... Anambra airport is a waste!!!

These ones just open thread to massage their own egos. And then pretend to be a yoruba moniker to show a yoruba admiring them, in order to ensure others further massage their ego, like this comment on the first page from an igboman.

Is the last one an airport?

Quality of leadership in our Southwest region should be seriously questioned.

It must be ment or a curse. Seriously.

What rubbish!

Come to SS and see lots of yorubas. Even in my village, many yorubas are now there selling agbo.

I don't stay anywhere near SW and I can't live there. Outside my region, the only place I will consider living in is Abuja.

Enugu airport is viable as well . As for the others who knows what will happen in 10 to 20 years time when we get good governance. They might become very viable because of the local economy .
Father0fjesus:
I don't know who will be using Ebonyi and Ekiti airports. White elephant project for small states that should be looking at doing other things with their revenue.

Enugu airport is not far from Abakaliki. The moment you land in Enugu, the express way takes you to abakaliki straight to the opposite direction.
And no one goes to Ekiti via flight, only few people. No airline will want to invest in Ekiti now. Even Benue that has an airport, their airport is not viable enough for airlines to invest in, most of them fly via Enugu and even as far as Abuja.

The only viable airport here is Anambra. Even at That, For someone like me, if I went to travel to onitsha, with the completion of second Niger bridge, I will prefer to land in Asaba instead of anambra (although it depends on the part of onitsha one is going to), I mostly go to head bridge market and Asaba airport is just the best for me.

Oga, stop wailing. Dave Umahi is trying to build a new state with nonexistent infrastructure, created the same time Ekiti and Bayelsa States were created. Those are the states you compare them with. That said, the positive results of development don't reflect overnight. It takes a while to manifest.

Dave Umahi has done his bit; his sucessor should continue from where he stopped. That's why government is a continuum. By the way, the questions you asked show you know zilch about the state.
