In 3 months, Ringed engine twice already.

Consult a mechanic that knows his game. They're somewhat expensive though.

Might surprise you the problem is not as big as it seems.

the average nigerian artisan is mentally lazy, sloppy , in a hurry and careless

you will find this out of you have a technical bent

the man may be misdiagnosing your problem, or he may be working sloppily and creating three problems for every problem he solves

he may not even know what the problem is and be treating the symptom rather than the root cause.

I bought a 2002 Toyota Camry as my first car in October and for the first 2-3 months the car performed pretty well.

However lately, from January it has been one problem to the other.

From overheating to coil problem to spark plug problem and others.

The recent issue with the car is that the car doesn’t hold slow anymore.

That is the car goes off at slow speeds. I’ve changed coil, changed spark plug, ringed engine twice all to no avail.

This has caused a huge hole in my pocket as I’ve even had to borrow to pay for some of these repairs.

Just yesterday in a bid to resolve this issue, I took the car to another mechanic and he told me my engine block had washed and that even if he grinded the valve the holding slow issue won’t stop. I inquired about the cost of replacing the block and purchase alone was close to a 100 thousand. I’m just tired and frustrated, I need advise, do I sell the car or do I repair this?

Is this mechanic trying to extort me. Experience car users please advise

Sell the thing or buy a new engine

I once had this issue with the same car. My rewire scanned the car and told me the accelerator pedal was bad, we ordered for new pedal and the issue got fixed. He also warned that on no condition should I allow any mechanic to manually adjust the slow of my car, that it's automatic and it resets itself automatically because big daddy has an issue with slow anytime the battery terminals are removed.
You are right the Big Daddy Bro the matter don tire me I swear

The problem is the fact that the car is OLD.

Plus we buy these cars second hand, we don't know their hisotry before buying them self.

(That is what happens when a new made in Nigeria car is costing 7-8 million, while second hand costs as low as 1million).

Time to change the car. Otherwise, better get ready to spend more and more...unless you can appeal to Toyota Nigeria to do free upgrading.(just joking).

Sell your car. I've always seen private vehicles as a bad investment, only commercial vehicles are good investment. I don't fancy car.

When u r not ready to fix ur car park it in ur compound or ease any part urgently needed by other car owner ur part will b used. 3 when meco is fixing ur car even thus u can't fully b with them but make sure u r checking what they r fixing. 4. Anything that do ur car is on social media check before u go meco workshop.... Nothing like oga let try this... Lemm rest here I used Benz c230 2005 over 7 years my car b like tokunbo....

1. Sell the car and buy a bicycle. You’ll be better off for it.

2. Do not buy secondhand cars. Always buy brand new. I will rather drive a brand new Kia Picanto over a ‘fairly used’ Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
