This guy has totally buried his political career. What is wrong in legislating a law that will protect the indigenes of an area? Truly, this guy is an agent of a hidden agenda being orchestrated by some unscrupulous elements.
Almost every state in the South did something similar against Fulani's ruga. Some northern states did something similar (shariah law) to protect their religion. Why all this hullabaloo when it comes to Lagos State?

Let us define what is called indigene here. Because una dey dodge too many things if we go by what the constitution defines as indigene, then those from Ogun and other SW states would be affected by the law too.

After many tribes that come from their respectful states has made lagos what it has became. some people want to start some sorta useless Tribalism, seriously this is highly stupid and foolish if you ask me

But what did i know
we warn u people to control your utterances during d election but u all said our mouth was smelling. U people are now loosing it in all areas now. All those Obidients who always attacking me on nairaland are no where to be found now they are now quiet. You should blame yourself for this new law. When u are told d truth u start abusing d person and bragging that nothing will happen.

Exactly, I see nothing wrong in a people protecting their own interest, after all UK Canada etc do have such laws.

I will only have a rethink if the Edo man, tiv ,Hausa , itsekiri etc make a fuss. So far nobody from those places even care about any law or no law.

what is the proposed law? Any details?

The move by the Speaker is very presumptuous, because as at now, Nigeria and Nigerians are not United. Shey we that don't like ourselves low key and cannot tolerate one another. Then you pass a law that benefits only the indigenes? Many Yoruba tribalists will support this move because that's always what they've wanted, but then again, it threatens national peaceful coexistence because we are a vulnerable nation. Nigeria is not a sane country like Canada and the likes where laws are passed to protect their citizens. We haven't gotten to that level yet.

How many yoruba tribalists are indigenes of Lagos? That is the real question here. That law will also affect them too.

Everyone was targeted including liberal yorubas. Yet you don't see other tribes wailing and crying since the speaker hinted about protecting the indigenes. Why do you not want a state to protect its indigenes. Afterall the North practices it's Sharia and some south east governors vehemently protested against ruga.

Let the Lagosians rule themselves the way they like too. Whatever is good for the goose is good for the gander.

No I am not against the law I am happy with the law so that those from Ogun and other SW states will understand the term indigene and stop famzying with Lagos.

Bro its clear to me that you guys are scared igbos will take over lagos. It equally clear to me that you are the one selling the land to them. This election period clearly showed how tribalistic you guys are. So if it pleases you to create a boundary because you cant handle the pressure, you might be shocked to see how irrelevant you might turnout. Nobody is scared of you quit acting like robocop.

JUST DONT TOUCH OUR PROPERTY

A move to protect ones eye from an incoming object is a default move, protecting ones territory from Invaders/snatchers is Self defense not necessarily "scared"
where there is no law there is no sin, IF Igbos dare what they tried the last time in 2027 it will end in serious war, in order to prevent that is why lagos house of assembly are trying to propose laws to protect indigenes, when these laws are in place Igbos will know the line not to cross.
Yorubas are civilized people, we have chosen the path of law over war.

Be very careful with how you spread lies and hatred. In Onitsha, Okigwe, Aba and other. South east cities and towns there are lots of Hausa people. The law's useful Mr Slawomir.
Let Yorubas do things their way in their land.
If it pain you, leave. UK, US dey make their law, una dey adjust.

Yes it ll cover all you mentioned. The law was to be done to pass a msg that there's difference btw landlord and tenants.
In your own land, do your law. When your tenants abuse you, you can give them more gifts

Hope you know that you that you are from Ogun andnother SW states would be affected by the law. The law said protection of indigenes so if you are not an indigene of Lagos whether you are yoruba or not it will affect you.

Hope the law will force Yorubas to start going to Europe, China and Japan to import spare parts for their cars

Very funny hope.
The quoted sweet me pass

The importers of spare parts can as well import and relocate to their various states to sell to indigenes alone, ensuring they don't sell to non indigenes of their states especially the Yorubas from Lagos so as to pepper them back.

How can you come to a state and want to claim the land saying it is no man's land.
You could have decided to remain in your own land and develop it rather than develop another man's land . Ndi developers.
Mtcheeeeeew.

Can a Yoruba man become the governor in Anambra or Imo for instance?

Why serve others what you wouldn't want to be served.
Let's be reasonable abeg.

This is not about tribalism, it is about according respect to people who owns the land and not coming to claim their land just because they have been liberal over the years.

See guy you think you are smart. Read that Albertan law very well they said it protect the Albertans and did they define who an albertan is? No, but in this case you said indigenes of Lagos, so the law is clear if you are not an indigene, whether you are yoruba from Ogun or other SW states the law affects you.
Even the Dakota law you are mischievously quoting was to protect the native Indian tribes there. Oga stop lying to people abeg.

But Lagosians are Yorubas, so i don't know what business okoros and Okafors from umudike have concerning Yorubas affairs

Your eye would soon clear. Most of you would start forging credentials to claim Lagos, na that time court cases will catch you people then you would know how these laws affect you as well

But they are Yorubas aren't they?
We don't discriminate with states or religion
We have marriages between Muslims and Christians
Traditional worshippers and Christians.

That's why obi failed woefully when he went to Ekiti and told them to vote against tinubu cos of Muslim Muslim ticket not knowing there are Muslims in every family there.

Go back to alaigbo and continue your discrimination about Osu caste, Abia vs Ebonyi , Anglican vs catholic etc

Nooooo don't be a hypocrite here. The constitution which we follow in Nigeria defines an indigene as one whose ancestral home falls within the confines of the state, irrespective of your tribe. So if you are Yoruba from Ogun or other South west states. The law affects you as well. Don't say we are Yorubas na lie, the term indigenes is the game changer here

Hope you know that by the term indigenes, the law also affects those from Ogun and Other SW states.

Awon alainikanse! What took them so long and why are they announcing it? Something they would have done and passed within 12 hours before people get to know what happened. We can't blame Chinedu, anything placed on the side curb belongs to passersby, Yoruba have given others an unfettered access to Lagos and the rest of Yorubaland, so strangers can start treating it as a communal property. In my travels in all the 6 continents except the Antarctica, I haven't seen where immigrants have strong opinions in the affairs of a town except in Yorubaland.

Like I said earlier, it's a law that's targeted at the interest of their natives. It's not a "we vs them" thing. Unless you want to make it become that of course. I really don't know why you guys are furious or rather, curious over their affairs.

They're not making laws for kogi state people that lives in Lagos state. They said it's a law to protect the interest of the natives.

If there's something else I'm missing out, pls be kind to point it out. Abi why una dey fear? You don't want them to protect their locals?
