Blaze14k:Don't mind the hypocrites. People who cannot accommodate their fellow Igbos from other South Eastern states in their civil service (we all read how Theodore Orji, the then Abia governor dismissed civil servants from other South Eastern states) will be the ones lecturing you about how the prime minister of UK is from India and Colorado mayor is Yoruba. They say Charity begins at home but their own charity never begins in their Abia or Anambra first - they want it to begin in Lagos, South West. 11 Likes 3 Shares |

Obasa and Indeed those proposing a special law for a class of people in Lagos or in any state for that matter are just TOO IGNORANT of the laws of this country. The constitution has already invalidated any law or policy that discriminates against any person on the basis of ethnicity, religion, gender or whatever. So let Lagos Assembly make that law and let's rush to Court and have it struck down for violating the provisions of the constitution. You cannot make any law that seeks to favour any particular segment of same state or favour one group over another on the basis of religion, gender, tribe or whatever. Every law must be applicable to everyone who lives in your state equally, because in a constitutional democracy, we are all equal before the law. There is no indigeneship in our constitution and the idea of indegenship is illegal, the constitution recognizes just one thing; citizenship of Nigeria. Once you are a citizen of Nigeria, you are indigene of any state where you live. Those who are shouting One Nigeria up and down should be educated on the implication of being One Nigeria. It means the man who was born and raised in Sokoto, Borno, Enugu or Abakaliki is an indigene of Lagos as long as he lives in Lagos. He has equal rights with the Oba of Lagos and will be protected by the constitution against any form of discrimination on the basis of his religion or tribe. 1 Like |

This small boy is just an annoying nuisance! He needs to STFU if he ever wants to move ahead politically amongst the Yorubas. All over the world, the interests of indegenes/natives have always been protected, especially if they are threatened by settlers. America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India all protects natives with laws that award benefits that nobody else gets. Even as settlers far outnumber the natives . The legal protections and benefits is even more pronounced in the middle east. As a settler, your contributions in their society is used to unapologetically fund the lifestyle of an Arab and there is nothing you can do about it. Infact you loose legal benefits if you marry outside your ME group. The proposal doesn’t even protect ALL Yorubas, but only indegenes. So what is he whining about?! 1 Like 1 Share |

Who takes the Igbo-backed trojan horse serious?.. Speaker Obasa has our full suppprt on this law.. We say o to ge! The indigenous people of Lagos deserve far more from their State. Lagos State is not FCT where people gather to eat the largesse, ilu Eko is for Yorubas and is a Yoruba heritage. 4 Likes 4 Shares |

There would not be any need for such laws if some people had respected their host. From what happened before and during the last elections, some people should expect consequences for their crude behaviour. You insulted the Yorubas, their leaders, religious leaders and the Yoruba culture and almost everthing Yoruba. You should not expect the Yorubas to embrace you. I didn't vote Tinubu and the APC but what I take exception to is the insults. Some will still come and insult me to buttress my points. Nonetheless, I think, the laws will be counterproductive. |
Re: No Man’s Land: Rhodes-vivour Condemns Proposed Law To Protect Lagos Indigenes by eldoradoxx: 6:16am On Jun 09, 2023 |
Tzar:Let's begin by introducing the word 'indigene' in our constitution. Our constitution does not know anything called indigene, it recognizes only citizenship. You are an indigene of Lagos once you are a Nigerian from anywhere who lives in Lagos. The proposed law is dead on arrival, take that to the banks. You cannot be shouting One Nigeria but not willing to abide by what one Nigeria means according to your constitution. And Lagos should be careful, other cities that were greater than Lagos from history of human development on earth collapsed due to internal conflagration. I see that once the seaports under construction in Akwa Ibom and recently Imo State are completed, Lagos will witness significant drop in human population so that the owners of Lagos can now enjoy Lagos. 1 Like |

Sheggy13: Bro its clear to me that you guys are scared igbos will take over lagos. It equally clear to me that you are the one selling the land to them. This election period clearly showed how tribalistic you guys are. So if it pleases you to create a boundary because you cant handle the pressure, you might be shocked to see how irrelevant you might turnout. Nobody is scared of you quit acting like robocop.
