I am very very angry right now. I couldn't sleep last night. That is why I'm bringing this here this morning before I do something very bad. A father should be after the growth of his son and not after ruining him.

Please you guys should help me look into this matter. I understand that it was a matter of life and important concern.

I'm seriously struggling in the city to eck a living for myself and do the little I can for my family also. My father was a petty trader who hardly can provide adequate for the family. Some of us who come from a very poor background would understand this better. I mean coming from where absolutely nothing is kept for you. No support from the family and nothing, nothing and nothing. You are the one who die and same you would have to pour yourself water to come back to life. You, you and only you.

I buy fast consuming products and supply to people and make some gains from there. Sometimes I hawk the products. I was able to save up to N150k. Around May this year, I went to the village and bought some rubbers of palm oil and store them to sell around November/December and make gains.

Last week, I got a call that wind pulled off our house roof in the village. Since they are using small torchlight phone, I didn't get to see how serious the situation was. Even though I didn't have money, I sent N15k to help fix it. My father later called me and complained bitterly on why I sent just 15k, that according to the carpenter, that materials and workmanship would cost N65k. In my mind, I was just like, does this man even know how I survive here in the city?

For two nights, they didnt sleep in the house as the wind pulled off the rooof.

On Tuesday, I learnt my younger brother was being operated of Hernia. I know about the hernia but was under plan to raise money for it. And I knew there was no money to settle medical bills for operation. So I was shocked where they got the money to do operation.

As I traveled down yesterday to see them, dear Nairaland friends, all my rubbers of palm oil has been sold and the money spent on fixing the roof and paying for the medical bills for the hernia operation without my notice.

I am not taking this kindly with my father who engineered the whole thing and I want to arrest him to refund my money.

That is my life investment and it took me so much to raise the amount. Due to how things are now. I even wanted to sell two rubbers to invest back as the business is facing challenges now.

What should I do here to recover my money back? If I have another money, I would over look it but that is my life investment of my labour.

Remember, your Dad didn't touch your palm oil until the disasters befell your family.

Don't forget this fact.

If the money was used for your brother's hernia, fine. If it's for fixing the roof, wrong.

Anyway, it's family. You might as well just consider it gone.

If your dad has land, you can demand he disposes it and settles you. That's a way out.

You need to act bro. This is cheating of the highest order. You should not look away from this act and make sure he’s prosecuted
First report him to soldiers. Let dem give him a very good beating
Then after, you can call the police so they take him to station for further interrogation and beating
From there, he’ll be charged to court and sent to jail

Are you serious or just plain stupid? Give your father a beating and send him to jail? Then how does he still remain your father?

Honestly I don't know how to help you. This whole thing is not straight. Your dad was under immense pressure meanwhile this is your life savings and investments.

But here's what I can tell you,if your brother had died, you will still sell the kegs, and it won't be enough to bury him.

Just find a way to move forward with your wife but no matter what you do, do not marry yet. Don't let the frustration push you into the hands of a woman cause you will be extending this poverty to your own kids
Oboy, watin weak me pass na say 4 kegs of palm oil is life savings.

My brother, i feel your pain. But let me ask you, do you have an idea what it takes to raise a child from infant to when he/she begins to cater for him/herself? Do you have an idea of the sacrifices your parents had to make to raise you through poverty? You even said it that it was based on life and death situation, yet you want to arrest your own father who rescued your younger brother and put a roof over the family's head because of your quest to save and make more money?

In life we sacrifice to make others happy and in turn God brings more for us. be grateful that you were able to keep the oil and it served a purpose. Who told you God gave you that money only for your plan? Sometimes whatever God gives you is for you to use and sort others out. Are you saying if u had the 150k cash in your bank account you would have closed your eyes/ears for your brother to die and your parents to stay inside rain and sun? Haba, i dont want to call it quest for wealth bc i understand where you are coming. And lest i forget, stop complaining your parents gave you nothing and you struggle all alone. How many people have parents who gave them something? Remove such blame game from your life if you want to make progress. The good thing you is you're healthy and fit to hustle. Just Thank God and continue with your hustle God will answer you soon.

Dear Poster (Hardtotrust),
I think you should be thankful that the resources were there through your hard work. No one prays or plans to be poor but unfortunately, that is your family's current lot. It is for you and your siblings to prayerfully work yourselves and your parents out of poverty.
Your Dad did not touch the palm oil you stored all the while you kept it at home until these unfortunate issues of health and shelter came to play.

Look at it this way, you were already looking for means of raising the needed funds for the roofing and the surgery. These 2 issues are time sensitive as the longer the house stays without a roof, the more your family properties get destroyed while exposed to the elements and your family remains without shelter. Also, if the surgery was not done ASAP, you would be preparing for burial where you would still spend even more plus the emotional pain of losing a sibling. You would most likely never forgive yourself for having those gallons of oil that could have been sold to raise resources and yet you failed to use them; only to still sell them for a burial or graver medical condition.

While your projected profit and actual capital have been used in a manner you didn't plan for, please do not bear grudges against your father or consider this a debt he owes. Rather, thank God that your foresight came into good use; determine to work harder so that this kind of pressure is never felt anymore - as much as possible. I pray that God will bless the work of your hands and grant you excellence and wisdom in making good financial decisions and reaping the abundant fruits thereof, Amen.

Pls don't try to arrest him due to ur success in life , instead u can search for another safety place to keep ur items.

Take heart brother!!!

God will definitely bless your hustle. Be grateful that GOD used you as the provider.

The heavens knew what would happen in the future (your parents' roof will be blown off and your brother will need surgery) that's why you invested ahead of time.

Time will come and your harvest will surely come, perhaps your sibling may be your saving grace in the future

I wonder what you would have done with all the money while you watched your parents living under open heavens and your brother lost his life due to inability to pay medical bills.

Your father is your father, there is no way you will arrest him over issues like this, even the world will laugh at you.

The money spent was used on important issues, like your brother's life and the roof over their head.... Even the police will blame you for taking such step.

When there is life, there is hope, keep hustling, God would enlarge your coast.

Stay away from his father angry

What an advisor

So you prefer his brother's death to his investment?

An angry man can do the unthinkable. So you want him to stay there to beat him up or get him arrested.

As it is now, the best bet is to stay away till the atmosphere is clear.

I need good advice on what to do.

Before I talk I believe u are from the east cos someone from south west will never contemplate arresting his FATHER for selling his things that he kept for later to save the present moment and actually save the life of his brother. Shame on u for even coming here. Tufiakwa
