For a tourist visa

First question from the consular is what is taking you to the US? If u say visiting, who are u visiting?,how is the person related to you, what state is the person lives in etc)

How long do u intend to stay?

So what are you doing presently in Nigeria (what's is your work? This is where they normally refuse people,a lot of people can't explain very well their job)

So how much do you earn ? Requesting for your total monthly income

Generally,be bold and Maintain eye contact with the consular,it took me almost 2 month to perfect what is I will be saying as regards what I do In Nigeria

Be watchful when u are inside, target the consular that is very generous,u need to up your game ,when they line you up towards a Consular that is very wicked, when is reaching your turn and you have already see that this consular in your from is not generous, excuse yourself to the wash room, come out after sometime and go and join the queue to the generous consular ,they no they beat person and beside na your life be this

I hope I try

Hello everyone

I will be arriving the US in next month. I will be studying in the dayton area, Ohio. Anybody in Ohio I can connect with? I want to ask things around getting an apartment, furniture, Nigerian churches around, African stores around. Just hacks around those things too. Things to look out for, resources available that I should take opportunity of. I am open to suggestions from people outside Ohio too but my main priority is securing an apartment. Thanks everyone.

For African shop, try Saraga (https://saragaindy.com). It is international with a good African section.

What part of Ohio are you relocating to bro because it is one of the most dangerous states in America not safe to raise a kid talk more family. It's like Chicago Illinois. I had to run away from that state I hope to only visit never to live in Chicago or Ohio again.

It'd be nice if you start your own thread about your preparations, interview, flight, arrival, settling down, school, how you obtained your legal status and life generally in America..

Then people can begin to ask you various questions pertaining to the points I raised above.

Thanks

Hello house, am planning of relocating to the US with my family. Have been saving for few years now. I have six million naira and I have a few properties I can sell and the money will rise to seven million. Will the money be enough to take me and my wife with three children to US. And I just got my passport.

Your money alone will not do it. You still have to meet the requirements to get the appropriate visa to get into the US.

Piece of advice, look towards Canadian express entry. That way, you become Canadian PRs. Let's say you succeed in moving your family to the US. Regularising your stay and getting green card would be a huge burden. Once again. Look the way of Canada.

For people that don't have much money to pay heavy fees for masters way what would you suggest

I'm done with bsc, would love to apply to schools in usa, to cut cost would colleges be better off seeing the price of fees and other things ??

Would love to come in for msc social work, please who has link to scharships of low turion schools

Thanks a lot
Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by Papilagreen: 11:21pm On Jul 16, 2023
Well I will try and answer as best as I can.
Yes American school fees for tuation is very expensive and it depends on the state you intend to come for your studies. Some state are just so expensive that you will see their school fees even for international student very affordable but the cost of living i.e rent feeding bills like internet light etc is too expensive it takes all your money.

So my advice to cut cost, it would be best if you do your research and know which school is safe for international student. Some state in America is a no go for mostly international African students.. also if you do your research well it would help you a long way.

But if you need help on how best to go about it and if you need professional assistance I sure have somebody who is very good it's what he does he owns a travel agency and he was the one who helped me in the process on how to beat go bout my student visa..
All the same I wish you the best in you process...
