I'd say we move forward with this tactics whilst finding solution to the defensive.

Well like you said Trent wouldn't need to drift into midfield if we get a proper midfielder ..

But Trent is still poor defensively and therefore still needs a backup..

If Klopp is using the new system, we don't need to sign a backup RB for Trent. What we will need is a new CB.
A left footed CB. Konate will play RCB and cover that area that Trent vacates.

With the new system, it will be 3 at the back. That way Trent can focus on picking out players with long passes from midfield. Defending will not be his primary duties anymore.

This is how I expect us to play next season with the 3-2-2-3 formation that revived the team last season.

Strongly do not see the need for Thuram, I don't think he's good enough compared to our other youngsters( Curtis, Elliot and bajcetic) and what we need right now is a DM...I like the look of Kone but someone mentioned his injury record after he got injured at the U21s Euros and I checked, we don't need another hospital attendant we just got rid of Keita and still have Thiago and Matip...Lavia would be ideal but is he really going to challenge Fabinho for a place immediately if the Brazilian maliase turns out to be a permanent one?... there's also his price tag 45-50m for a 19 years old in a relegated saints team who shipped 76 goals, i rather get someone established or put our faith in bajcetic who I feel would be a star than bringing in another prospect to slow his development...q

Have watched Thuram quite a bit since the news we were interested in him came up and I can say I'm not impressed, the guy looks like another bakayoko..The only thing he has over Curtis is his ball carrying capability which is his greatest strength and can also be a big weakness cuz he's find of running into traffic which will definitely be punished in the Epl via turnovers which makes any thought of playing him as a lone DM Suicidal, his 1st touch also leaves a lot to be desired... I agree we need a midfielder, someone like Amrambat would be ideal as someone who can start immediately if Fabinho is not up to it as well allowing the younger ones to flourish, splashing 50m on a 19yr old with only a year of top flight experience is not very wise...

I've been watching some matches at the U21 Euros and I have to say Curtis had been exceptional in the deeper midfield role...Hope he carries this form into the new season and hopefully gives the manager a selection headache...

I have been seeing many people on here and many different forums and Twitter bigging up Bajetic incase there is no DM purchased for this new season, I do hope Klopp has seen what it looks like to lose value and be deemed overated in the space of 1season, has seen his team served shambolic and disgraceful defensive lapses last season, I have also been even reading how Fabinho would not be as bad next season, and I need to sound the warning as clearly as I can

The two midfielders we have added are adding creativity, passing,flair, possession and goals to our midfield but little pressing or keeping in shape outside possession, when we are outside possession or countered you will be seeing the nightmares of last season with your eyes, this is because Mac-allister does not press with enough energy nor does he has the recovery pace and Dominik might offer pace and assist in defending but he would play the most advanced and would not be easy covering our end of the midfield. Also we need a pacy , physical and pressing DM to assist when Trent goes on his adventures forward.

The best time we had a squad it was so good only Trent had no backup (Gomez covered well then sef) , shaquiri as impactful was a bencher, Klopp needs to have his SQUAD at least almost complete again to sort this team and take us back to when we were matching man city, if all these holes are still glaring at the end of transfer window, it would do our course nothing even especially now that we are outside top 4 with Newcastle, Chelsea and probably Spurs and Villa to battle this is without mentioning the others in the current top4. If we have to find a way to trade thiago and Matip ( who I very much adore) to get a DM and CB, so be it. But we need those 2 positions filled going into the season

After signing Szoboslai we don't need Thuram anymore.

He's not a priority to me because he's not a proper DM.

I watched his comps on YouTube and I noticed that his biggest strength is ball carrying and dribbling.

When it comes to tackles, pressing, interceptions, aerial prowess and all the attributes needed in a DM, Thuram is just average in those areas. Nothing special or spectacular.

Yes he can play DM but in Nice last season, he played CM in most of his games.

Even as a CM, Thuram is not a better passer than Mac10 and neither is he a set piece specialist or better creative outlet than Szobo or Trent who will no doubt add more quality to the midfield next season.


The guy is a good player nonetheless. But unless you just want to add more players to positions that have been filled, I'd rather leave Thuram and look for a very good DM.

Henderson might be off to the arabian League too ..

Watched some YouTube clips on Dominik ... was impressed like really impressed... but I can't tell if it's the clip or something ... Dominik doesn't really have that passing flair .. he plays more like a winger and fill up firmino's position in case of a false 9 ...



But I might be wrong ..the clip only showed me how good he is at scoring goals and dribbling .. but giving debruyne like killer pass, nahhhh .. I couldn't see that...

What an interesting battle in the transfer tussle between LFC and Chelsea
Chelsea had bid thrice to purchase caicedo from Brighton after they had agreed terms while LFC did the same for Romeo lavia but Chelsea wanted to be smarter by half by intruding and stealing lavia from LFC by bidding close to Southampton's valuation of lavia!
But like a poker game,LFC bounced back by bidding 100m pounds for caicedo hence meeting Brighton's valuation of caicedo and outsmarting Chelsea!

Still spending that Coutinho money, right?
