zubizareta: I need to see the evidence to believe. GIC for international students are for those living legally in countries participating in Student Direct Stream SDS program. https://www.td.com/ca/en/personal-banking/solutions/student-banking/international-student-gic The countries are China, India,Brazil, and some other countries. Nigeria is not among. Any Nigerian doing it would have to be a legal resident of these countries. This is what I saw on all Canadian bank website. If you have evidence to show otherwise, please show me cos I'm interested in doing GIC for my sibling |

Kenn55: Lol. You need to see the evidence to believe? As per you doing me a favour? Issorait. You can choose to believe what you want. I have written SOP for someone that was initially refused visa and in the reapplication they did a GIC. The person was from this same nairaland. Also I have read somewhere when a detailed step to get GIC done was stated here using your dorm acct. |

Please see the procedure for GIC below. You should ensure that the USD in your account was made via transfer and not cash deposit. If the USD in your account was sent deposited via cash deposit, it cannot be transferred. Also note that you can only make a deposit into the GIC account just once. The total bank charges on the 20CAD GIC was about N55,000. Procedure to open GIC in Canada First you go to there website https://pay.cibc.com/ISBO/payment/#/ and create a profile. 1. You are applying for student GIC program 2. Minimum amount is $10000, you can do upto $20000 but bear in mind that this money will only be available on tranches for a period of 8 months or so. 3. Select resident country 4. Do not check the I'd like to pay in canadian dollars box 5.. you will see an amount in USD click on it and continue, that amount will be held for 20 minutes while u fill the form 6. After filling the form you will be contacted by the bank in 1-2 business days with an account number to pay into 7.. proceed to the bank and make the payment from a USD account NOTE: payment can be only made once before you arrive to Canada. And PAYMENT MUST BE MADE FROM THE SAME NAME ACCOUNT OTHERWISE THEY WILL RETURN YOUR MONEYquote author=Kenn55 post=124585050] I need to see the evidence to believe. zubizareta: Please don't take it personal, it is not a fight. I'm interested in it because I want to do it. All the banks are talking of SDS eligibility. Do you mind saying which bank was involved and the process? Thanks |

Kenn55: Your information is correct based on theory but not entirely correct based on practical. To be direct, CIBC is the only bank in Canada that is currently providing GIC to non-SDS applicants who are non-residents of Canada. SDS applicants might submit GIC as a requirement, Nigerians have used it based on choice. If you are interested in getting one done for your sibling, kindly contact CIBC, they will direct you on how to open the account. |

Your case is straight forward if you can make an adjustment in your next application. 1. Do you submit your payslips that shows your employer deducted tax from income along with your salary account? 2. Make sure you explain every credit in your bank account and explaining the lumps sums (i.e any funds greater than your salary in your account) The funds you proceed from the sales of landed property you have to show the deed of assignment you did when you sold the land also present the one giving to you when you bought the land. 3 program of study not properly showing link and career progression to what you are currently doing. Hi guys, please i want to ask a question for a friend. He applied with the new portal twice and has been rejected twice. Should he still reapply with the new portal while addressing the issues for which he was rejected or can he apply with the old portal. If he ends up applying with the old portal, will he have to sign up and start all over? |

Please what is the implication of using a 1 year diploma program to travel to Canada? will the person be able to find his/her way around PGWP. He's thinking of applying to other schools after the one year diploma so that he can get a PGWP. What is the possibility? Or will they send the person back home after one year. This person is a graduate and got a 1 year diploma at Can-College, but scared of the outcome after one year study permit. Please experts advice is needed here. Thanks. Note, he's not buoyant enough for two year programs because of the POF stuff. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by zubizareta(m): 4:33pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
ChiomaMC: Can college don't offer programs eligible for pgwp. So it's not because it's a 1 year diploma program, it's the dli itself not offering programs eligible for pgwp. He/She either declines from going further ahead with visa visa/admission process for can college and look for a school that's eligible for pgwp or he/she enters Canada and switch to another dli eligible for pgwp pr he/she does 1+1 with the second dli being eligible for pgwp. These are the 3 non risk options to remain in Canada. The risky one is getting a job offer before completion of the program. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by zubizareta(m): 5:12pm On Jul 22, 2023 |
ChiomaMC:Getting a LMiA Job offer would qualify you to apply and get a work permit after study. It's the risky pathway but Can college on their site explained how they help their students with such job offer. 1+1 is applying for a program right there in Canada, get admission and commence the program before your program with can college expires. With this, you apply for study permit extension inside Canada. |
