Its absolutely worth it. You need to create choices/options not just for yourself but for your offspring. You dont really want to be tied to this country forever. |

hazinibones:Have you not wondered why most rich Nigerians do not go there to stay permanently? It's better to earn in $ and £ in Nigeria and spend it here. Na here that dollars and pounds go make huge sense because of how devalued naira is to dollars and pounds. |

My advice I have lived in UK for 4yrs and currently in Texas with my family Don't japa yet but be ready to japa Only few people earn #3000 abroad No nurse or Doctor earn that kind of money abroad unless it's an agency work It will take you 5+yrs to settle abroad and you will be doing more of menial jobs, infact #3000 is nothing in UK or US Save up about half of your salary in dollar and be ready to japa when you lose your job but so far you are in this your current position my guy enjoy it while it last There's nothing abroad even oyibo people use to wonder why we are coming over there because it's not easy for them NB don't invest the money in Nigeria just be saving up in dollars because you will need it later |

hazinibones:Well, if you’re young (20s to early 30s), it’s worth it. In your case for the exposure to other cultures and cross collaborations…yes. Also, look beyond yourself. Your immediate family (wife and kids), so they can have options as well. And raise them in a secure and sane environment. My advice to the japarians is to have the best of both worlds. Africa and Overseas. |

hazinibones:If you must relocate, consider African countries with very good security, broadband internet network (5G possibly), steady electricity and finally Where your 3k will look like 300million monthly. And if you decide to stay... Consider Agricultural value Chain.... Alot of raw produce but not much value addition. |

hazinibones:My advice to you don't rush to travel. If you are earning $3000 save up for schooling with the intention of landing a high income job. Also consider looking at becoming a SCRUM MASTER, TAKE COURSES AROUND PROJECT MANAGEMENT, MONITORING AND EVALUATION AND NECESSARY CERTIFICATION. IF YOU CAN DO THAT WHILE HERE, IT WILL HELP YOU LAND BETTER JOBS WHEN YOU ARE THERE. ALSO, DO YOU BEST TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD TO FUND YOUR PERSONAL EXPENSES IN THE FIRST 2 TO 3 MONTHS. YOU CAN ALSO CHOOSE TO BECOME A LOCAL AUTHORITY IN YOUR FIELD AND MAKE EXTRA CASH FROM TEACHING WHAT YOU KNOW. |

hazinibones:Depends on your circumstances and your discipline. You can make a decent living in the US and UK if you are focused and disciplined enough to improve and develop your current skill-set. At your age japa is manageable and you have 30 years or more of work life to plan for. Abroad life is level, what you achieve yourself is what you will have. Public Infrastructure is provided for everyone. Naija life is full of ups and downs and the ones that can achieve the ups enjoy it but the downs can be real low. Analyze your circumstances well and you can make an informed decision |

The world's future is Tech. Go out there, explore and try to build a brand. Develop something unique and you may never have to work again. A software engineer simply need to be creative, look around for something you can engineer and bum. |

Hmmm even if you earn 5k I will still advise you go 1. What’s the future security of that Job. We know things aren’t flexible and stable over here. . What about the future of the little ones coming in future. Yes Nigeria would be good in future but home is home bro. You can’t rely on that. Get that second passport for your kids. 3. The Comparative difference in exchange rate would reduce over the years. 4. Why not take your career to the next level with the lastest technology and a better learning environment. 5. Security isn’t top notch aboard but peace of mind is at least better there. I could go on and on pls Japa…… I had this worry too and it really delayed me when I slowed down in making my decision. Best of luck! |

Op, lastly consider where the advice is coming from. Abroad is a step up for most people that have travelled; I meant Individuals that couldn't even get a visitor's visa to any country on a norm. Individuals that were roaming about in Nigeria doing nothing before they managed to squeeze through. Of course, getting to abroad, wearing leather jacket, snapping pictures with whites at the background will be the ultimate for such. Conversely, think about individuals in the same league as you, their perspectives will be different. Their definition of success will be top notch and not premised on frivolities. What are the qualities of those whites that some individuals mix with over there. Most of these white are not educated, not skilled or exposed. They are mostly the worst of the whites. You will see a skilled, educated Nigerian snapping pictures with such individuals, and still feeling on top of the world, simply because they are both working in a factory. You will see such pictures littering their Facebook pages. Your skills dictate to you that you should live differently than this. You should roll with the best of the whites, which you are currently enjoying remotely. Op, ask again, what quality of individuals are advising you. Iron should sharpeneth iron. Enough said |

hazinibones:i see people telling you to stay in Nigeria... Really with all that is happening in Nigeria you still want to stay.. even your politicians and super rich men japa at every slight opportunity... the only reason they havent fully relocated is because they make their money in Nigeria... except you're making that your money in Nigeria, it's best to leave.. this country has no future.. think about your future...you can lose your job tomorrow. you mustn't go to the U.S or U.K, you can go to a small country, with stable power supply, good water supply, and security... then invest your money.... your life and future is more important than anything.. Nigeria isn't even safe a single bit.. there.. those telling you abroad is expensive are all liars.. things are more expensive in Nigeria when you factor in standard of living and inflation ... tell them to come back home to Nigeria if they think abroad is too expensive and watch them snub you... ![]() a word they say is enough for the wise... you |

So you know that over 80% of Nigerians don't earn half of what you earn monthly but many of them are still balling. Dude you are blessed and still young. Gather up, grow, invest, expand and enjoy. Omo you are on soft. |
