Your opinion remains your opinion but that doesn't stop it from being wack n rubbish. Your highlight about the move were pathetic to say the least comparing to other average Nollywood movie we have seen lately.

I don't think you should be running the movie down because it tried copying The Woman King ?! Nigeria movie producer should actually endevour to copy renowned production companies to beta their lot like the music producers. You learn to crawl before running.

Just imagine belittling this movie because it copied an American movie have you tried comparing their budget n the standard of the effect ?

There is no reason you can't be critical about a movie but Nollywood need encouragement to keep it growth not running it down n you expecting everyone to accept your line of tot without questioning it doesn't even make sense.

[quote author=MT post=125028462]Wacky storyline. Nice visual effect.

Yorubas don't fight like Spartacus in war or in a fight challenge, the ending is so predictable and the story line is so tacky - A bad replica of "the woman king" movie.

Femi Adebayo, dressing like a roman king, which I found so alien - should not have acted that part - Chatta or Lalude could have been spot on.

Wars were fought like Romans army with swords. Yorubas used charms to fight in their wars.

All in all, for me:

Story Line - 20%

Visual Effect - 65%

Anikulapo movie still remains distant number 1.

Go and do yours and let's see what you wil end up with. You are Just unnecessarily being critical unreasonably. You told you Yoruba warriors in those days were not using arrows, spears, guns, machetes, knives, etc?
You must be a product of indomie generation who knows nothing aside Zee World and African Magic.
Your criticism has no place in epic film industry, it's one of embittered soul, like Ogunjimi, who is expresses bitterness in seeing good thing.
You are simply a sadist!!!

Jagunjagun is a good one but there is a reason screen writing is a career in Hollywood.
The story as a whole is interesting to see. Coming from the Yoruba genre where Africa magic has made them lazy is a big push for the sect of Nolly wood.
The art direction was top-notch. The majority of the acting was awesome to say the least but the story development is not the best that it can be. Why is Ogundiji a terrible person? What is the need of showing the different kingdoms with no clear cut direction at first? Why did we learn Ogundiji had a son when he will not be a victim of revenge - except for part 2!
The school - I take is an idea from Spartacus - but what about showing us some classes. Then they were meant to be warriors but they did more of raiding. The honour of a warrior is lost in the needless murders of 'civilians'. Init?
It is possible the best Nigerian movie for a long time - it is definite the best action movie Yorubawood has ever since but Abija who create the genre deserved a shot and Lalude - those are the real veteran of the Yoruba action genres. I hope they get more scene time and be released from being used by skit makers.
The fact that you mentioned that Abija created the genre showed that you are Ignorant of many things.

Also,you don't understand the movie.

1.Abija didn't pioneer epic yoruba war movies.Pa Ogunde did!

2.Ogundiji is like Russian Wagner group.A private army often contracted by corrupt leaders of different villages to protect their illegitimate government!..yorubas call war mercenaries AJAGUNTA

As for Spartacus, I can point out 20 mistakes in Spartacus too

Charms only? No swords? No hand to hand combat? That's literally not possible!

You don't need to say "lie here and there". It was my experience, respect it. Just like I respect yours.

It is an open fact that in the olden days Yoruba warriors chanted incantations in wars. Not fighting like Romans with swords.

Yourbas didnt have arena like Spartacus where they fight.

Go and watch "the woman king" - they tried to copy that movie and it turned bad.

Viewers will get carried away with the wacky storyline because of the visual effect. It's not a well thought out my movie.

That's my experience. You have yours and I respect it.

As for me, Anikulapo remains far Number 1
So you're telling me they fought kiriji war with just charms? The Oyo empire fought their wars with just charms too? Don't get too carried away by the yoruba movies you've seen in the past where it's just all charms. You were not around when these wars were fought, but if you did a thorough fact check, you would realise that in the past, there were yoruba wars that were fought with sword, arrows and dane guns too.

No movie and there will never be one that is 100/100. For me, Femi and all the cast did a good job and interpreted their roles well. I will rate it 80/100.

Well done Femi Adebayo. You and Kunle Afolayan have really raised the bar when it comes to Yoruba movies production. Keep it up!

Yorubas used sword, gun and charms. The movie is ok. Some key warriors in ancient yoruba Kingdom dressed like ancient British soldiers. Historically, British empire is an offshoot of Roman empire.

Pls they use guns and weapon. The weapon is one of the reasons Ijebu is popular because Ijebu doesn't fight war but sells weapons to those that fight. Like the fight between Oyo and Ilorin.

Is even part of an adage

Oga, Yorubas dont fight like Romans. That movie is a roman empire classic movie.

In the olden days, we read it that the two commanders will face themselves and chant incantations till one commander overwhelms the other. Then fight will ensue.

The film misrepresents Yoruba culture so badly. Go and watch the "woman king" on netflix - it was a failed attempt to replicate it.
Have you read of the Kiriji/Ekiti Parapo war? If yes, did they not use guns, Cannons, swords and other weapons in that war? Yes I understand they used charms mostly but what if he was coming from that angle? Did they not use charms at all in this movie?

Who told you that? British and Arab through slave trading brought some civilization to yoruba land. Arabs had encountered with Romans earlier in the history. Britons, Portuguese and French brought guns later through yoruba mainland, badagry and dahomey respectively. Dahomey used to be part of oyo empire. Portuguese used badagry port as a slave trade hub.

Ogundiji is ajagunta, a war mercenary. Historically, they fought wars to enrich themselves, to raid slaves. Kings usually employed services of ajagunta for protection. Though the movie doesn't depict raiding of slaves and looting of goods which is a minus.

There are numerous movies that portray these

Go and watch Idagiri, Jogun Omi etc.....even if you think you know Yoruba history by Yoruba movies.
