Irony1:The Igbo raised in Yoruba land and Igbo raised in Igbo lands are not the same thing. The Igbo influenced by Yoruba's culture and doing it...can't refer to them fully Igbos or pioneers. There are several movies released before living in bondage. Mostly in Yorubas when Nobody in the entire south east haven't seen local movies then. All the Juju, villages, witchcrafts, herbalists roles Yoruba did it firstly before Igbo started theirs. |

FreeStuffsNG:You are a known noisemaker here... Nigerian film making was nothing until Living in Bondage hit the market... How many people apart from those reading from textbook knew Hubert Ogunde? Go to any African country be it in Kenya or Tanzania or Uganda and sample the perception of people about Nigerian Nollywood and come back and cease noisemaking... You guys need to rise above the pettiness of seeking validation by this futile competition with the Igbos... Nollywood is over 60 percent Igbo content... 4 Likes |

funmijoyb: Okay can you do me a favor mention those movies and please do not mention those produced for NTA. And as you are mentioning them please mention data on how many million copies were sold, who the producers were and the marketers. See you keep missing the point here. In the 80s and early 90s you hardly go to the market to buy a Nigeria movie, I dare anyone to claim or lie, it was all American movies. No one imagined that you can enter market and buy or rent a Nigerian movie until living in Bondage. That was as a result of igbos that is when commercial motion picture that we know as Nollywood was born. 1 Like |

diplomat058: Dude you are dancing everywhere and avoiding making a point. Commercial motion picture business is Nollywood and not theatre. Get the memo. In the 80s and early 90s you can never go to the market to buy or rent Nigerian movies, it was always American movies, the trend changed when Living in Bondage came in, and it was igbos that started it. That is the crux of the matter so it is rather misleading for someone to say Nollywood which is commercial motion picture started with Yorubas that is a big lie. 1 Like |

Everyone outside of the tribalistic yurobas knows Nollywood was put on the international map by igbo people. The nollywood everyone knows are the original igbo films shot back in the late 90s and 2000's. Igbos combine great acting, beautiful people, and a nice mix of english and igbo that allowed those outside of Nigeria to enjoy. The clips going viral on tiktok everyday are all from classic nollywood. Not yurobas can never give igbos their props for being pioneers. Its pathetic and reeks of jealousy. 1 Like |
