Hello,

What is the chances of getting a F2 visa for my partner, I'm going for a masters programme in the US.

Thanks.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by esth5er: 11:59pm On Aug 27, 2023
Please can I be added to the mock group and Abuja date search watsap group. Highly appreciated.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Leftrightcenter(m): 1:16am On Aug 28, 2023
He can apply in either of the locations but I think it would better for him to apply from UK as it would be easier to get availability of interview date than in Nigeria. But he has to be ready to prove strong home ties in Nigeria except maybe he's a permanent resident in UK or a British citizen.
CheersP:
My spouse currently resides in the UK, can he apply for F2 visa there and attend the interview there or he has to apply in Nigeria (home country).
Please will appreciate if any one can provide clarity as to which is the correct thing to do.

VO: Why this School and course?

Me. Spoke about fit with work, how the course was going to help me transition from my role in internal audit to a sustainability analyst, how i am going to learn about concepts (mentioned core core concentration & courses) that would help bridge the knowledge gap. The school's curriculum worked for me, spoke about the associate dean's works and research and how they aligned with the role I'm playing to take after my degree....(she cuts me off at this point, says okay, that's fine)

VO: What countries have you been to ?

Me: USA. For a student exchange program & i spoke about what i did during the exchange. Then Ghana, on an educational field trip. Listed the places visited..(interrupts again)

VO: So who is covering your deficit

Me: My uncle. He's an electrical engineer, he owns Xyz Electric with offices in 4 states (named them) with a staff strength of 60 people. They specialize in electrical installations for both residential & industrial buildings and consult for companies on solar installations, he makes an average of 40-50million annually.

VO: Sorry....

Good day
I went for my student visa interview and I was asked 4 questions, I need your guide on what went wrong

Officer: How many school did you apply for?

Me: I applied for 3 schools

Officer: why did you choose the school you are going to?

Me: I chose the mentioned the school name because they are one of the best in US and the world and the curriculum for business administration and management is outstanding, together with the facilities, also they were fantastic at paying attention to details when I was going through my application process.

Officer: what do you do for work?

Me: I work as a business Analyst, “mentioned the organization name” she cut in

Officer: what year did you graduate?

Me: I graduated 2019

Officer: why then are you going for your masters now?

Me: After I graduated 2019, there was covid lockdown and my school wasn’t able to process my document until December 2021. Also ASUU strike made the school delay a year in processing my transcript that was November 2022

Officer: I’m sorry you are not qualified, this is the blue slip

You need to work on why you chose that school. Your response was very generic and didn't address how getting a degree from that school would help you grow as a person … and how it would help you impact Naija… thus establishing some strong hometies

It is very difficult to get funding for computer science, especially as your first degree is not in CS, and you seem not to have any work experience. did you write gre? the thing is that, for someone who has gone twice, you need funding. you need it badly. my advice to you would be to write gre, look for funding in civil engineering, get your visa, when you reach the US, you can transfer sevis to any school you wish and study any course you wish. your chances of approval without funding are low. not impossible, but low. and if that happens, you are looking at interview number 4. not a good place to be.

I have been denied before at Abuja and this is how my interview was. I was going for an associate degree in computer science

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning sir
VO: pass me your passport and I-20
Me: (passes the items)
VO: I see you want to study computer science
Me: yes
VO: what year did you graduate
Me: 2019
VO: and what have you been doing since then
Me: nothing
VO: what do plan to do upon completion of your studies in the United States
Me: I plan to come back and put my certificate to work here in Nigeria
VO: sorry you are ineligible for a visa(hands over blue slip to me)

I know I messed up during my answers I actually didn't do any research I just went there thinking it was going to be an easy something but it was not. Hello guys

I would like to know the true cost of WES

I googled and it said a WES course-by-course evaluation cost $163, and a document-by-document evaluation costs $102.

Does that make it total of $265 ? I’m applying to US school for PhD. Do I use the two evaluations or just one? For a standard US school? Or would it be my school that will say which one they want?

I don’t understand.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by oluezekiel(m): 6:44pm On Aug 29, 2023
No...you only need one, the course-by-course evalution.

What makes them the best? What aspect of the curriculum in particular? Be specific, these are very vague answers.
And what's your funding like?

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Techyking(m): 12:59am On Aug 30, 2023
I'm here to seek advice and recommendations on what we could do better for a tourist visa interview.

Backgound:
My wife and I welcomed a baby last week and we are inviting my mum to visit for about 4 weeks. Her interview is coming up first week of September in Lagos, I don't want her to miss this opportunity. The problem is that she had gone with my Dad in March 2023 for a tourist visa and both were denied for lack of sufficient home ties.

Additionally, my inlaws went for US visa interview this August 2023 for a tourist visa to visit their new grandson and both were denied. My inlaws did everything right in my opinion, they both had very great jobs, landed property, and business and all their kids apart from my wife are in Nigeria and the VO denied them on the grounds of lack of sufficient home ties. I'm very confused regarding what the VO is seeking as evidence of home ties.

Due to the above experience from my parents and in-laws who were both denied tourist visas, I'm sharing the responses my Mum is preparing to provide the VO for your input.
Note: This time around my mum will be going for the interview alone, not with my dad as she previously did.

Answers she is preparing to provide
VO: May I have your passport
Mum: Passes her passport

VO: What do you want to go and do in the USA
Mum: I wantt to see my newly born grandson. My son and my daughter in law had a baby in August.

VO: How long do you intend to stay in the USA
Mum: I will be visiting for 4-weeks

VO: Where will you be staying is USA
Mum: I will be staying with my Son and his family in California

VO: What does he son do
Mum: He work in xxxx company as a Software Engieer

VO:
Mum:

VO: Who will be sponsoring your trip
Mum: My husband will be sponsoring imy trip. I also have some personal savings as well.

VO: What does your husband do
Mum: He is retired from Public service. He worked in our State Post Primary School Management Board as a Supervising Principal

VO: What do you do
Mum: I'm a retired secondary school principal and now work as a full-time Catechism teacher at our local parish, I am also a laity leader in the Carmelite missionary community

VO: Do you have other relatives in the US
Mum: Yes I have another son who also lives in California

VO: How many children do you have
Mum: I have x number of kids

VO: Where are all your kids
Mum: 2 in US, 1 in Canada, 1 in UK and rest in Naija

VO: What are you childred doing
Mum: Explains

VO: Why are you not travellin with your husband
Mum: He just had a surgery and was adviced not to travel now

Kindly review these proposed answers and let me know if we are missing something.
