you are free to believe what you want bro. doesnt change the fact that i have lived most of my life abroad than in nigeria. i was born abroad. abroad is nothing. my brothers and sisters ( way richerrrrrrrr than i am ) travel to london for the weekend to see their children. they go like every other weekend. so abroad is nothing in my family. God is good. my father started the trend. lived in London for close to 20 years during the british windrush era of the sixties and seventies when naijas migrated en masse
Your family rocks! This is the type of life I envision building

Anyone living abroad in a developed country like the UK, USA or Canada who cannot save $20,000 in one year, is either not serious or wasting time.
Easier said than done. See below

This is actually very true. There are lots of people who became rich right here in Nigeria. We tend to forget that

I invited a plumber to my house and he charged over £200 just to change pipe under sink. I know a lot of plumbers and builders that work only 6 months in a year and go on holiday for the other 6 months.
I too had to change a pipe under sink quite recently. The plumber charged me 5K naira, though he also drank some of my beer. This life no balance

Even Buhari and Tinubu no stay for Naija when them need treatment and all their kids are abroad.
Why the hell will I want to relocate.
I think you mean why the hell will you NOT want to relocate.
Well, because for one thing you already have a good life here, and a bird in the hand...

They accommodate the asylum seekers and care for them until there is a hearing of their case regarding the asylum. If the judge is not convinced by your story, they reject you straight.
Yeah but that'd take years and by then, if you're enterprising, you'd have found way or "ways". See below

The exchange rate tells the whole story . If one have a good means of leaving Nigeria, it is better to leave.
But what if your earnings are tied to dollar or inflation?

I have lived in america, uk, canada, germany, cypprus, france, belgium, amsterdam AND i have come to the conclusion that its all rubbish. all that second class citizenship living ? is not for me. so understand that you are talking to a man who has lived abroad for over 2 decades. you are speaking to EXPERIENCE not some wet behind the ear kid
sukkot:
i was young and had no direction in life. this started at age 18 when my parents got divorced. so i became like a nomadic person

and the reason i was able to do this is because i can walk into any country with my passport. no immigration problems whatsoever. thats the beauty of a british passport. you can enter anywhere and live
Wow, you have a UK passport and you choose to live in Nigeria. Food for thought

See people writing rubbish. There loads of people in UK who don’t even earn up to $20,000 per annum. And this is for real
We here in Nigeria don't believe so. We KNOW countries like UK are easy money, $80K per year and up!

Lucky you but can that be for a long time. Nigeria is an unstable place. The problem is when one looses that job, are you able to get another one with similar renumeration.

Thank you soo much. But if it were that simple don't you think everybody would be doing it?
I am not married and I really crave travel and adventure. You can almost say the ground is burning under my feet!😁
Like some comments suggest, and I have alluded to, travel. It's good to explore the world while you're young but you must do so with the mind of a nomad, and without grudges . I'm saying this because you have put this out here ,and it simply means you're risk averse;this is not the mindset of Christopher Columbus.

You're single and itching for adventure, then go ahead bro. Life na once !

People living outside Nigeria do so for many reasons and not because of money only. Better lifestyle. Stability. Free education for children. Access to quality passport or citizenship that provides greater opportunity in future.
In Nigeria you may appear privileged, but you will still endure the generators and area boys and bad roads and insecurity and substandard lifestyle and over priced lousy education and so many other nonsense.
Abroad also has it's own problems. Plus, with generator, inverter, solar, and living in gated community, you'd actually be happier in Naija because of cheap labour and because you can get away with stuff if you have money - which is not the case abroad

Do you know how the asylum process works? Sometimes people come online to say what they know little or nothing about.
I won't advise anyone to seek asylum, though I currently live in Milan Italy, have a friend who migrated to UK six years ago seeked asylum and currently his asylum has be rejected including appeal. Passing the asylum route is not advisable anywhere.
The whole idea behind seeking asylum is NOT so you'll go before a judge. It is that it takes years to adjudicate, meanwhile you're working legally in the country, and find "ways" long before you have to face asylum judge!
See below

I live in Milan, Italy. Have a friend in Northern Italy he's been in the Asylum route for 7years asylum declined including appeal. And when you're not documented (have your papers) you can't work, rent apartment n access to medical and other benefit.

Asylum route is not advisable.
Alot of Nigerians are suffering in Asylum camps in Europe and stuck.
See my post and screenshot above, meanwhile you're working legally, and may find "way" before you have to face asylum judge!

I am sure you would not step into the ghettos of America and Europe. the world is a ghetto. just find your little safe space
The bolded is actually very true. Even the universe itself is a VERY violent, hostile place. We just live in a minuscule part of it that is not so hostile

Are you this deluded, live in Europe without papers? I can talk of Europe cause I have been living and working in Italy since 2016, came back from Nigeria 3weeks ago, though things are tough in Nigeria currently (I mean cost of living) but it is worse off living in Europe undocumented (without papers).
This is what people abroad say. But people in Nigeria say Italy, Canada, etc are heaven even if you don't have paper!

I live in Germany and save more than 2k monthly as a tech guy, although I plan to switch to finance. So it depends on your status.
Wow, you into tech just like me. What part of tech you into?
2K in what currency? That's 24K a year. Not bad at all

Japa is more than just about saving money. It's about political stability, economic stability, social security, and so on.

You cannot build wealth with an average job in any country in this world. You need to become a top executive or run your own business or invest in lucrative assets.
I think this is quite right. Which is why I'd always be an entrepreneur even with a regular job

It’s as easy as that if you are focused. During survival mode years abroad, was able to stack that amount comfortably, not to talk of now. I think I should really put up a post and enlighten folks.
Why not do just that? Put up a post and enlighten us!

Get away with stuff because I have money
Be happier because there is cheap labor around me.

And we wonder why our society is failing?

I don’t want that to be my contribution to any society, abroad or Nigeria

Well, it's true. I can hire a cook and a driver right now, how much more when I'm making 1.5m a month. Impossible abroad! Also I can get away with just about anything. If our politicians were abroad, 90% of them would be in jail!

When you think about a black American, what's the first thing that comes to your mind? For most of us, it's drugs, shootings, fatherless homes, single mothers, aggressive behavior, prison history, and so on. Why will they not be perceived as second class citizens?
Easy o!
Remember their ancestors were forcefully taken over there and ENSLAVED. Then they had to face continuing discrimination and segregation. Cut them a slack!

The Japa mentality don enter a lot of people's head. Even those wey go through study visa self no get joy last last.

To leave home country you must be calculative otherwise, you will regret it.
That's what all in the know say. But it's very hard to be calculative when you already have your ticket and the ground is burning under your feet!
