so what do we produce in our country that u need us to priortize buying? Whats the name of Nigerian phone that u are producing?
You know, when you run away from the challenge and throw the question back, you are just accepting status quo Nigeria.
And in Status quo Nigeria, producing NOTHING, $1 = N1200, Oct 2023.
By december it will be N2000
2024, = N3000
2025, = N5000
-
Do you think I'm lying? The more you produce Nothing, the weaker your economy will get.
Complaining and doing nothing will SURELY get us there.
Remember, it started with $2 = N1 (TWO DOLLORS TO BUY ONE NAIRA).
Here is a picture of Zimbabwe money for your enjoyment.

Its not about who you vote for, its about the fundamentals. The fundamentals remain same irrespective. The last regime destroyed the fundamentals built from 1999 till 2014. Whoever is there now cannot do magic over night other than we bear the pain and enjoy tomorrow. For me, we should have a list of items that we should never ever be imported to our country. And yearly, we keep increasing the list. Its either we find a way to produce those items locally or we dont use those items. I tell you, in a decade we should start seeing sign of greatness has a country.

The essence of these policies is to kill importation business and make Nigeria a production country.
Your business is not the only business that is dying, many business that depends on dollar has closed down and more will close too.

Time is coming when Naira will hit 5000 to a dollar. When this happens, foreign products will be difficult to purchase and we will have no choice but to buy made in Nigeria goods cos even a pair of foreign pants will be so expensive that only politicians can afford it while the rest of us will wear plantain leaves.

It's so annoying that the average secondary school student knows the dollar to naira exchange rate, that shows how we depend so much on the dollar and killing our own naira.
Until we patronize our own companies, we can't grow the economy, this painful stage is called the transition stage from foreign to local, the govt is not the problem but the time it takes Nigerians to accept the Nigerian goods will determine how long the pain will last.

In the next five years, we will fully accept our own economy and in the next ten years, we will have an economy that will beat France and Germany cos we have the market already.
the thinking process of some of you Nigerians are so simplistic and easily maleable, I just keep laughing. How many Nigerian manufacturers are even standing now ? Do you also know that many made in Nigeria goods have many imported components which need forex too ? What has been the government's incentive to encourage exports which is what we should be talking about here seeing that it's cheaper to export goods from any other country in west Africa than Nigeria ? The government doesn't have to destroy the economy to encourage purchase of made in Nigeria goods, the correct way to go is the same way countries like China, South Africa, Mexico etc went, encourage those brands we love to manufacture in Nigeria which GEJ was achieving gradually before the APC plague came along. There are many things to do now but destroying the economy yet blaming people for not buying made in Nigeria goods isn't the way to go at all. People don't even have money to buy the local goods sef

Dont mind these people. IMF, World bank and other Bretton Woods Institutions for many years have been warning of chronic inflation, saying Petro-dollar dependent economies like Nigeria should take a cue from Venezuela and the depreciation they suffered.

But ya'll want to gain personally while the nation suffers, right? Too bad, they too would finally be hit hard too. They would be the hardest hit.

Expect as much as 70% of the naira to tank within the next 9 months. If you get small space for your yard, better go plant veggies!

richmond500:

There will be heavy inflation at first, even world bank and IMF warned us about the inflation that we will experience before the economy bounce back.
Don't let hatred becloud ur judgement.

Our economy is foreign dependent and it affects every sector of life.

agbadonomics! Lol. glasko-smithline, P&G and other other plastic companies are they import dependent? dude bottle & pure water factories are shutting down in their thousands. Tinubu is just clueless and a tool for western powers to destroy and destabilise our country simply because they have his corrupt dosier. manufacturing companies are shutting down! there is no electricity neither is fuel or diesel cheap thus increasing their cost of production. The main problem is not import but the people. the Nigeria people still don't get it that APC is purposely sabotaging the economy. They closed the borders and stopped import of rice only to allow fulani herdsmen to destroy acres of crops and farmlands. they purposely stopped our refineries from producing and invested billion of dollars into dangote refinery yet its not working and even when it does it won't reduce the cost of fuel grin when they saw stealing of crude oil sales is not working fast, they now decided to steal the crude oil itself so that they can stop fx proceeds from this and destroy the naira. my people ask yourself how can an economy move from good to worst in a short span of 8 years? it was planned. the real reason they are doing this will soon be unveiled.

How stupid can some of you get ?
How do you solve a problem by putting the cart before the horse? This is the same approach buhari took with rice, where did it get us ? You ban a product without first ensuring you have the production and supply capacity to meet local demand = automatic inflation. How much is local rice today ? Is it not locally made?

You do not have a single functioning steel company, Electricity generation is less than 30% of demand.
80% of Petroleum products are foreign sourced.
Where do you start your overnight economic revolution from?

When Obi was talking about realistic ways of moving from consumption to production. Agbado !d!ots were parroting nonsense.

Top 3 imports in 2022:
Petroleum products - $24b
Machinery including computers- $7b
Electrical equipment. - $3.5b

These 3 categories alone account for more than 60% of total $ spend.
-How do you patronize a local substitute that does not exist?
-How do you produce local substitute in a business environment that is counter productive?

Your cap about foreign pants and other such small commodities is ignorance, that is not where the real forex expenditure is.

A govt that is spending billions of dollars on foreign cars, foreign trips, but paying zero attention to building local capacity is going nowhere.
Whatever voodoo economic policies they conjure up is dead on arrival if the root cause of the problem is not tackled.
Power generation
Working steel industry
Petroleum product sufficiency
Attractive business environment for FDI (Security, Rule of Law and Legitimacy )

these are a few of the necessities, not blaming the victims of bad governance.

I have been reading a lot of ignorant govt supporters claiming there is a policy to "kill" importation. Let me get you guys right. You want to kill importation but you hope to export abi. The other countries are fools abi. The machinery and equipment you will use to produce locally usually fall from the sky during rainy season abi? You guys are dumb.

Your god said yesterday that there is a plan to inject $10bn into forex to stabilize the currency and increase its value. How does that match the claim of you his supporters that there is a need to devalue or currency till we "kill" importation and purge ourselves of foreign goods longing? You are very dumb

Importation is actually not an issue as long as you have a comparative advantage in export.
