my dream was that immediately I came over, i and my dependant will search for jobs.. work and pay bill. but that is not feasible as I am seeing it.

i started this process with 15 million naira then when naira nose dive i had to borrowed extra 15 million to top it with interest of almost 2 million naira. landed in uk, started seeing the reality on ground

i have been in UK since 1 month plus. but getting a job as a migrant or new commer without UK experience is not easy.
in fact i have sent over 200 job application for cleaner, care assistant etc but all came with a sorry we have moved on to the next stage or you don't have uk experience.

school fees has to be paid. everyone here in tight corner... school has sent mail threatening to report to the immigration if school fees is not paid in the next few weeks to most Nigerians here.

no job, house rent is expensive.. going for 450 to 600 pounds per month.

travelling through student route is not really easy because you have to balance between work and school.. 'even at that where is the job as a new migrant.

Please if you are considering coming to UK for now.. please put on hold. the crowd from Indians, Pakistani, Malaysia, china etc is overwhelming.

it's not worth selling your home to be here.

i sleep in indeed and all this job site.. still yet nothing, bills mounting up.

all my colleague i came with are still with no jobs in other cities

after spending 13 million coming here with extra 3k dollars now almost exhausted chai

if u know you don't have full school fees, house rent for 12 months, upkeep.... running to 35m to 40m please stay back... stay back or apply through skill route.

edited with more info.

Dear OP, because of you I had to login to my account, I don’t understand why you will be complaining under one month of coming to the Uk. The struggle you are experiencing now, everyone experienced it at some point and we are surviving.

I enter UK January 2023 with 13k pounds dept and I paid it off in 7 months without dependent or form A, if I fit do am anybody fit do am

Why is that so? I'm curious.
inflation that has affected the cost of labour, building materials etc. As a rule of thumb, most people who put houses up for sale usu do so from a dire need of money. Cash is king and whomever has it has great leverage. Lands on the other hand are usu mostly sold out of convenience, meaning someone may want to sell a land and hold out for even two years until they get close to the kind of deal they want, but when people put houses up for sale (and I'm not talking about developers or the wealthy) they usually can't hold out for very long. A 3-bed house that is ten years old was likely built for less than 5m and the owner knows that. Whatever would befall the owner and he resorts to putting that house for sale, be rest assured he would be willing to sell close to the amount he spent building it, depending on the direness of his/her situation.

Long story short, most times when houses are put up for sale it is usu for dire financial reasons and so the person is not in a strong position to negotiate a great deal. The other party with money is, and compared to the cost of buying land and building from scratch at the prevailing costs and rates, buying has been shown to be far far cheaper, up to 50-100% cheaper depending on the specifics of the deal.

The shit packing is more valuable than doing some good office job in Nigeria and can't save a kobo! The person packing shit abroad has a much higher purchasing power that the bank manager in Nigeria. Abd we all know how many even get to the managerial position at a bank. Most are just tellers and marketers.

If you are asking people to put on hold in Nigeria, should they put on hold until one pound is equivalent to 5000 naira cause its definitely going to happen under this baboon of a president no ifs or buts. Full fees should have been paid if you cant pay full UK fees, other cheaper countries should have been considered.

Experiences are different for every one. My husband is on his 2nd job since we got here in September and he is schooling. We also got a house in 2 weeks by favour. I also just got a contract job and I will be resuming on Monday.

We did not pay a dime in school fees till now and no threats. School has accepted for us to pay any money we have monthly. The difference is that we have relied on God.

Our children have also started school.

We do have some bad days, but God has been faithful.

Try and network too. A Nigerian helped us in getting a house that allowed us to move in before paying rent couple of days after. The owner of the house is also African and he only took one moth rent and deposit. This journey needs God and faith. Pray to God and have faith!

If we keep voting along tribal and religious lines, instead of being rational and rallying people to our own rational values, then our educated youths will spend millions to travel abroad to pack and clean oyinbo shit.

Just begging God won’t change anything.

Of course.
So what percentage of Nigerians are out of the level, where our country is not serving as a prison for deprivation of elementary things

Someone who sees this statement now would think Nigeria is a country that’s kind to its citizens. Country that makes life harder and harder everyday for its citizens while the ones at the top keep living in splendour at the expense of the masses, what good can be spoken about it?

Who allows those at the top to get there and stay there?

Can it be the same masses, who are clueless tribesmen and religious bigots

You need to first fall in love with Nigeria for you to truly appreciate her..

The mineral deposits in Nigeria alone is enough to feed the whole of Europe for a thousand years.

Blame the bad leaders and saboteurs only after their pockets for the problems facing the country. Running from a rich country like Nigeria to a semi-rich country is one of the most fo0lish thing anyone can do in the world in my own opinion.

How do we know that we have the minerals if not with the technology of the semi-rich oyinbos, who keep investing in the free education of all their children in schools with adequate professional teachers, as we had in the Western Region and its derived states seven and four decades ago under progressive governments of Awolowo and the Unity Party of Nigeria governors

You are saying what you have no idea about. You know how many Naija youths in professional industries? Even before most of them finish MSc they are already employed.

We do menial jobs as students to see us through our education and after that we go for our dream jobs.

It’s funny how citizens from other countries better than Nigeria (China, Korea, Spain, Italy) all come to Uk for hustle and we in our shithole want to use pride to do things.

Why did you japa when you were doing well in nigeria?

If japa does not favour you, you should return back to nigeria to continue what you were doing at home.
Abroad is tough. Very tough.

To get job by op.
He should be visiting the job agency offices to remind them of his job application.
That is how they will take his application serious.
He should also say he has experience for the job. Because most likely they would not give him job he has no experience of.

No, you are not saying reality but in an attempt to circumvent a better plan, you landed yourself in a tight corner... so no amount of explanation would hold water... if you had your fees as shown in your account statement presented for CAS, we won't be having this discussion.

Correct. The amount required for POF isn’t something Immigration pulls out of thin air—it’s the minimum amount needed to support yourself and survive should you not find employment. They let it be known up front how much a person needs in order to avoid suffering and in case they can’t find a job. When people present fraudulent documents, they feel like they are cheating the system but they’re only cheating themselves. Going to a new country without the required amount of funds hoping to be lucky enough to land a job to cover all the necessary expenses is a gamble. I don’t understand why when someone chooses to gamble and loses, they are surprised or even upset. Countries employ their brightest to make and enforce immigration rules but some people really think that they’re smarter and know better than those people.

Same people at the top who employ thugs to maim, threaten and kill citizens to stop them from voting their choice? Or didn’t you see what happened in the last elections??

Was it not worse for Britain a few centuries ago when the monarch was absolute like they are in the Middle East?

Everytime masses this and that, let masses breathe abeg. Yes there are a few bigots here and there BUT the bulk of the masses made a resounding choice this last election but it was stolen from them!

What last election? The one for your local government councillor, or the one for your local government chairman? Or you are talking about the election of your state lawmaker? Or the election of your governor? Maybe the election of your senator or representative?

If you are talking about the election of Tinubu as president, he won fair and square and he will win again if PDP presents a divided house, especially with pretentious Obi standing with the communists in LP.

By the way, when Britons talk about election, do they limit themselves to the PM, who is elected indirectly by the MPs? Are they so myopic and narrow minded parochial people?

You will return to Nigeria after spending 13 million naira. Find a way to rough it. Reach out to Nigerians on Twitter and ask for work. If you go back to Nigeria you will regret it bitterly.

Its either this guy is in Nigeria fooling people here that is in UK or he just want to discourage prospective UK japas.

Although UK is expensive now but cleaning, and caregiver jobs are available unless if you don't have strength for the job.
