Hey !

Your wife's Appointment was rescheduled because she did not have a MUST ATTEND reason with the US embassy , i want to think she just picked an appointment date and waited till the date germinated.

The US embassy being besieged with barrage of Visa Appointments have to shuffle their time with those VERY IMPORTANT applicants who have been placed on an emergency.

WHAT CAN SHE DO ?

1. The only solution that can retain her Appointment in the future is to apply for an emergency Appointment if she has the option in her CGI.

2. If she does not have the option again then she will have to keep using the Reschedule Appointment to look out for favourable date .

3. Last resort is to buy another MRV and keep using her reschedule & emergency Appointment wisely .

secondly, if you have been following this place, you may have been acquainted with some questions. People post their transcript here occassionaly.
Above all, it is important she remembers what is filled on the forms, and also show confidence. There is no special treatment for older people , Please take note.

She should be well prepared.

Hey !

Elderly people or older applicants naturally have better visa chances with the VO because they see them as categories who does not easily commit crimes and who goes particularly because of their children or grand kids.

That being said , if Mama is going to visit her own biological children then she has a better chances unlike when she is going for wedding or relatives party . Elders are not mostly judged by their grammar usage , ties , financial ability , education etc.

They judge them mostly with body fitness (medical), real intention , the children's status in the USA, their ability to cope with others ..etc.

Having traveled to the UK before will give the CO (Consular officer) the rest of mind that mama can cope in the USA .

Let mama be natural and tell the CO her real intentions . YOU DON'T REALLY HAVE TO TEACH HER MUCH ...LET HER DEAL WITH THE VO NATURALLY .

Anyone knows about the Abuja interview waiver timeline and how to go about dates.

Secondly, my receipt is saying invalid, I paid September 2022 and didn’t bother looking for a date then. I’ve now qualified for an interview waiver (48 months).

Hello. Were you able to resolve this? I paid in June last year and haven’t applied at all. Can I still go ahead and submit my application? In essence, is my visa application payment still valid since it’s already over a year?

The visa application fee is valid for one year from the date of payment.

So I think it’s best you call the call center and speak with an agent to get further clarification on what you can do about it but I think you would have to pay a new fee.

All MRV fee payments made on or after October 1, 2022, are valid for 365 days from the date a receipt is issued for payment of the fee. Applicants must schedule an interview appointment or submit an interview waiver application within 365 days of paying the MRV fee.

So I think it’s best you call the call center and speak with an agent to get further clarification on what you can do about it as your payment was made before the aforementioned date.

Thank you for replying. First, in my case, payment was made before October 2022. So I don’t know what the policy was then. Are MRV fee payments made before October 1, 2022, valid for 365 (or is it more) days?

Could you please provide me with the call centre number so I can reach out to them directly?

Thank you, sis 🙏

This initial response only applies to applications whose payments were made but were unable to proceed due to pandemic disruptions. But any other payment after this have a validity of only 1 yr.

Good day and Happy New Month
I'm currently residing in Nigeria and a Nigerian citizen as well, I'm at the verge of being offered a job at the United States but my potential employer is asking that I get a temporary I-551 stamp on my Nigerian passport or temporary I-551 printed notation on a machine readable immigrant visa. Attached with this mail is the document sent to me by my potential employer with what is required of me encircled. Please can anyone guide me on how to go about this and what are the requirements needed for me to attain this status.
Thank you so much as I look forward to prompt and favourable response.

Hey !

There is no difference between the Green Card , and the Lawful Permanent Residency Card . The I 551 card your potential employer asked you to get is the OFFICIAL FORM NUMBER OF THE GREEN CARD .

Therefore, your potential employer is indirectly asking you to go and get a green card if you want to come and work for them .

Be careful to verify that your potential employer is real because i want to think that you are supposed to go and resume the job via the route of an H 1B working visa.

Hi all, please I need advice on next steps. A friend suggested this forum would be helpful.

My mom applied for a B2 visa and was recently denied under 214b. Thing is she has sufficient ties as my dad and siblings are in Nigeria, she can’t just leave them. Plus she’s not even interested in moving to the US just visiting, but she didn’t even have the opportunity to say that. I’m a permanent resident and I recently gave birth; I really need her here. We are thinking of applying again right away (I’m pretty confident I can get an early next year date as I wake & sleep on traveldocs page), but don’t how successful it would be if nothing has changed.

Questions she was asked
- Why are you visiting the US?
I’m going to the US to visit and spend some time with my eldest daughter and her family. I hope to spend the holidays with them and meet my grandson
- How long has your daughter been in the US?
Four years
- Have you been to the US before?
No, I have not
- Have you been to other countries?
No, I have not
- What do you do for a living?
I manage/run a retail shop where I sell food items, gift items, beddings…

That’s all she was asked before getting the denial slip. Can anyone provide insight into why she was possibly denied? Is it the travel history or her job or maybe even me being here for four years? I came on an F1 visa. Or Should she have specifically mentioned me giving birth? (I learnt that doesn’t even matter anymore as they see omugwo as trying to work).

Hey !

Despite the fact that Older applicants or Elderly people usually have good chances of visa issuance, they can still be deny as many times as they apply .

Psychologically , the VO doesn't like the way your momsy answered her questions . Some of our mothers sometime thinks that going to visit children abroad is automatic visa 😊 therefore they frown to the CO during questions and answers in a proud way...like ...BUT WHY ALL THIS QUESTIONS ?? SHE IS MY DAUGHTER ! I WANT TO GO AND VISIT HER !

POSSIBLE REASONS
===================

1. The answers given by mama contradicted what the CO (Consular officer ) is reading in front of her (DS 1.60).

2. The way you entered America and stay behind might be a bad history affecting mama's entering .

3. I don't know how your momsy looks like But the CO might see mama as not physically fit to withstand travel stress , cold , etc.

4. The Consular Officer sees mama as a typical African , they understand some disciplinarian mothers and how controlling or demanding they can be which they thinks will affect their children abroad ....This statement is hard to understand but IN SUMMARY .....

Mama was answering her questions in a demanding way not in an explanatory way , and she did not proof anything verbally to the VO.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION

Hey !

It is okay but it will look suspicious. I want to think that the applicant is also single and with no prior travel experience ?

Americans (US embassy) over the years knows more about Nigerians . They know our freedom (out of parent or family control) years, they know the age bracket we go for Bsc , MSc and PhD . They are familiar with Nigerian youths who are doing very well financially who still sticks to their families untill after marriage because Nigerians are family orientated people.

In this respect , the girl of 20 year old just passed teenage years and no matter how rich she is , the embassy still expect her to be under parent or guardian . Except in a very special circumstances.

Let her apply under parents , immediate elder brother or sister or from her place of work. If she is married she can use her hubby as her sponsor .

Hey !

What i thinks with few experiences is that if you leave your appointment stale (without trying to get closer date ) the possibility for the embassy to cancel it is high because they too will think that ....THIS PERSON JUST BOOKED THE APPOINTMENT FOR BOOKING SAKE , HE OR SHE DID NOT EVEN AGITATE FOR NEARER DATES ..... You get ?

In this respect , if you have rechedule option keep using it to search for nearer date and pick any available ...if you have EMERGENCY OPTION ...then use it wisely to get a nearer date .....

The moment they read your agitation for dates via your CGI and especially if your initial date is shifted to nearer date then the possibility for them to cancel it is very very low .

Agitate for nearer date via feedback option , reschedule option or emergency option . You may even call the CGI ...if all doesn't work then leave it like that , they would notice your agitation.

SUMMARY
===========
If the US embassy threw a date to you and you went to sit at home without trying to get a nearer date ..then they will keep trowing dates to you if they want to reshuffle 😊. Either nearer or farther .

You may buy another MRV if you have abused or lost your emergency option .

Hey !

The primary applicant is the person that put himself or herself forward FIRST for the position of a job , or any other benefits .

For example , If you re going to USA and you apply for MSc ..and state in your application that your wife will follow you ...then you are the PRIMARY applicant whose wife will follow . If you did not apply then your wife will not follow .. therefore you opened the gate.

If your wife is richer and educated than you ..you can place her in the position of the PRIMARY applicant . She will be the one to apply to school , conference , visa , vacation etc and note in her application that her husband is following or accompanying her .... You get ?

Either of you can be the primary applicant. But the primary applicant usually has more money , academic height , more experience or connection and more exposure .

Cross check your form and be certain that your wife is the person the form is refering to as the applicant..while you is the accompanying family .
