I was so deflated when I saw the Obalende back entry points to what was (in my mind), the great Dodan Barracks. I was so disappointed and let down.

That's because Dodan Barracks is made up of many different things.

I remember how difficult it was to explain this to people in the 1980s. Some people thought that the president lived in a regular army barracks.

There was State House Ribadu Road (that's the Presidency).

There were 2 sections of Dodan Barracks (the army barracks)

There was Mopol 2

Etc.


It was fun when you look back at it, but it wasn't as much fun on the day. It was more surreal. I couldn't understand why people were doing normal things like playing football and delivering newspapers when there was a war not far away.
