Good morning everyone, I'm a Doctor going for plab 2 exams in September, I know the time is far but I have to plan. I just have some questions:

1) Would it be wise to book my flight now as I have the money and I don't want it to continue depreciating due to the exchange rate and increasing flight fares.

2) Is evidence of current NYSC and PPA sufficient to prove gainful employment?

3) How do I prove that my dad is my sponsor?

4) Is there a lower limit to proof of funds? I'm only planning to stay 5-6 days just for the exams.

1) Would it be wise to book my flight now as I have the money and I don't want it to continue depreciating due to the exchange rate and increasing flight fares - Yes, if you are a risk taker. Personally, I won't take that risk. Convert your money to Dollars. The price of tickets in Dollars don't usually rise astronomically. It's the cost in Naira that goes up daily.

2) Is evidence of current NYSC and PPA sufficient to prove gainful employment? - I believe so

3) How do I prove that my dad is my sponsor? - Birth certificate, letter from your Dad and of cos, his statement of account(s)

4) Is there a lower limit to proof of funds? I'm only planning to stay 5-6 days just for the exams. I'm not sure what you mean by lower limit. For your short stay, a budget of 2,500 should work...

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by AmeliaT: 1:33pm On Feb 07
Hi ma'am,

It's always good to ask questions generally so everyone can chime in as I may not have all the answers.

1. You can but will need to explicitly explain this in your cover letter and also get a letter of intro from the company. Your cover letter should also establish who you are- What you used to do before this, what's your career specialty etc.
My husband's cover letter always addresses his degrees and what he's been doing for the past 20 years since he graduated from Uni. His entire career history is covered before he lands on the business he's running. So he establishes himself as an accomplished professional. Dwelling on the last year alone shows you have a job but no career. This is something people miss a lot.

2. 350k a year is 4.2m.
Your flight is likely to cost at least- 800k-1m
Your accommodation- Provided by family.
Your Food- Family, I guess
Transport- Budget about 10 Quid a day for a 14 day stay. That's 140 which is about 252k.
Your entertainment and shopping- Up to you but I would say at least 300-500 quid as a genuine visitor which is 540k to 900k.
Total comes to between 1.6m and 2m.
1.6m is 4.5 months salary which I think is okay for a holiday.
However, this means that your account balance has to have this total amount of 1.6m plus extra to cover your expenses for the new couple of months. I usually say at least 150%-200% of your travel budget. So, 2.4m- 3.2m.
The question is how does someone who earns 350k save 3.2m when the total annual salary is 4.2m. Does it mean you only spend 80k a month and save the remaining 270k? You need to show what you were doing even before consultancy started one year ago. What job, how much, what did you save etc.? Most people have jobs but no career. A proper career is a tie to your country. A job is not.

3. They should provide a copy of their British passport, invitation letter, home ownership/mortgage agreement and proof of relationship. I hope your "aunty" is a blood relative and you can prove this via birth certificates, pictures and evidence of frequent correspondence. BRP is biometric residence permit for those who are not yet British.

4. That is not a good thing and needs to be explained in your cover letter with justification. A company that doesn't pay ontime could be a risky place to work for and therefore employees are likely disgruntled and therefore not whole heartedly given to the job. So, your job may not be seen as a tie.

5. I am honestly not sure about this. But you could play it to your favour and declare that you have joint custody of your children and leaving them for a long amount of time will jeopardize your position with the courts. You are travelling during their summer holiday which is 6 weeks long as dad has custody for 3 weeks while you have 3 weeks, so you need to come back on time to take possession of your children. You can have a whole section in your cover letter that explains what you do for/with the kids and how they are your life, the custody schedule etc. and your plans to take them with you to visit their grandparents and extended family in another state over the Christmas holiday etc.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

@Amelie T
Thanks for all you do. I will like to apply for UK visitor's visa 6months I need your input on the following questions.
1. I work with an NGO as a staff, our contract ended in December but was renewed this month but as a consultant for three months normally in the NGO our contract is renewed quarterly even if you are a staff but I have been with this particular organization for over a year. Do you think I can apply with this consultancy situation.
2. Can you educate me on disposable income and savings, my salary is close to 350k monthly I have a separate account where I save part of the money. But I want a clear explanation please
3. I have aunties who are UK citizens and they are ready to assist me with accomodations due to the current exchange rate. What documents should they provide. I have gone through the thread what is the meaning of brp
4. Our salary don't usually come on time as consultants, they could pay this month salary 2nd or more week of March. Will it affect my application.
5. For a lady who is currently separated and going through a divorce but has joint custody of her kids two teenage boys will her application be successful knowing that I don't have a strong family tie apart from my children who are in Nigeria.
I will appreciate your response on this issues raised. Thank so much for the work you do.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by sanyaolurilwan(m): 2:33pm On Feb 07
An amendment and a contribution.

Amendment: It's almost impossible to get a return flight to the UK for ₦1m at this time, ₦1m is equivalent around $700, except their are cheaper ways to book tickets.

Contribution: I'd advise since the applicant has a low account power, the number of days stated on the application should be reduced, maybe to 7days, this would reduce the budget and therefore lower the account statement balance required. Then after visa is approved and issued, she can spend whatever days she wishes.

Thanks.

I am a medical doctor intending to apply for visitors visa to enable me write my PLAB2 in April.
However I have 2 concerns
1st…I have been previously denied a multiple entry visit visa to Ireland last year and upon appeal it was denied on 2 reasons ;
Why I didn’t visit my fiancé in the UK instead
The date I planned on returning had passed before the date the appeal officer reviewed my case. (Irish visitors visa takes 8weeks after biometrics to get a decision and about 3weeks on an appeal case)
N/b; my husband then fiancé lives in the UK and we had planned on having a pre wedding vacation in Ireland And that was why I didn’t apply for a visit visa to the UK then.

2nd….. my hubby lives in the UK on post study visa and would be sponsoring my air ticket and accommodation as my exam is far from where he lives so I will be booking a hotel. I will take care of my feeding and internal transport.

I am worried that having my hubby there may be disadvantageous regarding my evidence/obligation to return.

I will be submitting my bank statements of 6months as I am gainfully employed and earn 300k after taxes.

I would also like to state that I contributed about 1.8m to my wedding in November so the expenses will reflect in my October, November and December bank statements and they are duly labeled. I normally spend between 40k-70k of my salary monthly. I have about 2.6m in my account

How do I go about it?
What are my chances of getting my visa approved

Well, I advise you apply for a visitor visa, take sole sponsorship of the trip without having a contributionfrom your husband if that is possible, acknowledge your hubby lives in the UK, and he may visit you or you may visit him during your visit. However, stress you will return to the UK after your exams to continue work back home . Add your current work leave permission to it, explain the facts you have stated here in the additional information space why you intended to visit Ireland at that time and not the UK. You should be fine, circumstances change, people change and applying as it applies to your current situation works best.
All the best.

If your husband lives in the UK, you might be seen as a flight risk.

You need to emphasis your home ties.

2. Your delayed salary might be an issue. You might get lucky and get away with it

3. Your children are strong ties to Nigeria. Emphasis that

Hello. Please who knows what the process and cost for getting a schengen transit visa for klm or airfrance flights to the UK? Do the embassies readily issue the transit visa?
How long before my flight can I apply? If my flight is in December, can I apply for the transit visa now? How long does the transit visa last for?
Looking forward to any information I can get. The website is not as clear as I would like.
Thank you.

How can your husband who legally lives in the country, you seeking a legal route to move to the country and be closer to your husband be a worry? I mean you are only visiting to take the exams at this time, afterwards their are still a few bridges to cross, like getting a GMC license, a trust that will offer you an employment and in a longer term, be reunited with your husband. I see no worries there, but pure human FEAR from previous denials. State facts in your current application, support with your plab 1 result, a date for plab 2, state facts of your previous visit intentions where applicable and what you look forward to achieving with current application, that should do. Don't go about thinking you're a flight risk when you aren't and can't even perhaps be any.

So they asked me if I want them to escalate my matter, that the escalation response time is 15 working days. They asked that I go think about it and call them back. Pls what’s ur advise?
