the only good thing about us is the Rebound game at both ends....the 3 point attempt are abysmally poor 7 out of 26 attempted, turning over like fools
.

7 point lead at 72- 65!!! at 59 sec.

that is what we missed in the first half,,we were not getting offensive rebounds and we're playing very lazily..

Final

Nigeria 72
Senegal 65

The Dtigress somehow rallied in the 4th quarter to get the win. This almost guarantees our ticket to Paris.

Bigger scoreline would have made sure of that ticket...buh hay its the Senegalese not the Malians...

Do you think Chiney might change her mind if Olympic become a reality.... this team would do with a shooter of her Caliber?

This team doesn't need Chiney. I'll do a post mortem soon with the stats but off the top of my head, what we need are shooters like Arike especially from beyond the arch.

You'll notice Senegal we primarily guarding their post. The other defensive work they did was guard Amy who they knew was a profilic 3 point shooter and Tomi when she came in. They left every other person open cause they didn't think they could make those shorts. Thankfully Sarah and Lauren made big 3 point shorts that help cut the deficit.

Let me stop here. Will do more once I get a hold of the stats

I like Pallas Kunaiyi Akpanah a lot . Been following her game since College days. She keeps getting better with every tournament. We should just try and beat Belgium. I know it won't be easy, but we can do it. Cheers.

Stat Analysis

2Pts 44%
3Pts 28%
FT 58%
RB. 50

Ifunaya Okoro was the worst shorter of the night, making 12% of her shot on 8 attempts. She also had 25% of her FT shots.

Senegal had one goal — guard the post and guard Amy. The reason is we are traditional not great beyond the arch save for Amy so there was no point investing defensively there. They succeeded in doing this in the first 3 quarters. It's the reason we made just 44% of our shots in the paint. What we could have done was to attempt to put them in foul trouble which sadly we didn't.

Have to give credit to Sarah Ogoke. I've been one of her biggest critic but she turned up big today. We made a total of eight 3pts shots today and Sarah had 3 of them.

We also turned down the tempo, and Senegal took advantage of it. This however isn't surprising as the Dtigress traditional grows in tempo during tournaments. This was my fear alfir today's game cause it was a must win.

Hopefully we work on our mistakes and give the USA a tough time tomorrow.

Am seriously waiting for your review... about marking out shooters 76ers did same thing to Curry last night by putting Paul Reed on him, Curry didn't even have a single point for over 20mins....buh it open up space for Wiggins and Kuminga as it does for Lauren today

Our free throw also needs to improve they always seem to be in a rush.

I applaud the ladies for the hard-fought win!

But they have to improve their overall defensive game for tomorrow’s match and the one on Sunday v Belgium; otherwise the Points Difference may become our downfall

... Senegal is not beating the US or Belgium, they know it,hence they wanted the win so bad... Belgium with all the momentum at the moment against the U.S, although,it is still 1st qtr.

Yes, I get your point about the Senegalese not winning the other two games. But what I’m saying is that the improvement is needed so that, even if D’Tigress lose to the U.S. and Belgium, those losses would be single-digit losses which could also boost the confidence of the team as they head into the Olympics

...okay,I get you know. That is very doable,we just need to play the way we played in the 4th quarter against Senegal in all the 40 mins against Belgium and U.S.A... ......

Belgium 30 : U.S 23...5:32 to go in the 2nd qtr

Trust me with our turnover and ill-advised personal foul, we have no business winning this match if not for her tenacity especially around our paint..

The US are always slow starters, the last time we played them we led until the final 5mins.... their overall quality always seems to come to bear.
