Kobojunkie:the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was there with God in the beginning. |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 8:53pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie:So what beginning is verse two referring to oga? Mind you, verse 2 uses the word 'he' which shows that we are talking about a personage here. So what beginning was he with God? |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Kobojunkie: 8:56pm On Feb 14 |
Michael547:The writer makes clear that the reference to the beginning is the same in both verses, but you seem to disagree with him. So?
|
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 8:59pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie:Lol.....so is the writer saying that the 'he' who was with God, started being with God from the beginning of the world or before the beginning of the world? Which one? |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Kobojunkie: 9:02pm On Feb 14 |
Michael547:Where in either verse do you get this "started" from since both verses instead suggest that the Word was?

Kobojunkie:The word was toward which God? |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 9:09pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie:Oga, if the word (also 'he' in verse 2), was there already before the 'beginning' of the 'world' in verse 1, what 'beginning' in verse 2 was 'he' with God? Is it the 'beginning of the world in verse 1, or another beginning? |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Kobojunkie: 9:14pm On Feb 14 |
Michael547:This here reads of gobbledegook to me since the two verses reference the same beginning as revealed in the Greek extract attached. The verses also speak of the Word being there BEFORE the referenced beginning in both verses — the obvious use of the past tense WAS makes this abundantly clear. So are you saying the tale is different from that which was written by John, the supposed author?

Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 9:17pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie:Good....so when was 'he' with God according to verse 2? Are we to conclude that 'he was with God in the beginning' in verse 2 refers to the beginning of the world? |

Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Kobojunkie: 9:20pm On Feb 14 |
Michael547:You mean the author's assertion is not clear enough? 1 Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.Basically, God was not mute — unable to speak —before the world began. |

Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 9:23pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie:I'm asking you oga. So when was 'he' with God according to verse 2? Are we to conclude that 'he was with God in the beginning' in verse 2 refers to the beginning of the world? Yes or no. |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Kobojunkie: 9:28pm On Feb 14 |
Michael547:So, it seems you don't agree with John's assertions that not only was the Word there with God in the beginning — when the world was made — but also that the Word was also with God even before the beginning— when the world was made —, is that it? 1 Before the world began, the Word was there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 9:36pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie:Oga I agree with John. The 'beginning' in verse 2 where 'he was with God' cannot refer to the 'beginning of the world'. Because, according to verse 1, the word existed before the 'beginning of the world'. So your interpretation of the 'beginning' in verse 1 is false. Unless we are to agree that the 'Word was not with God' before the 'beginning of the world'. What does the 'ORIGINAL BEGINNING' in your screenshot refer to? |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Aemmyjah(m): 9:40pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie: Scriptures clearly called Jesus the beginning of God's creation You say it's a lie Scriptures says, in the beginning was the Word. You twist it to say before the world began, the Word was there The Word has a beginning |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Kobojunkie: 9:41pm On Feb 14 |
Michael547:My interpretation? Interesting! ▣ Did John say that the Word was there BEFORE the beginning? ▣ Did John say that the Word was there with God AT the beginning?

Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Aemmyjah(m): 9:45pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie: Was John writing about the world or the Word 'in the beginning' He's not comparing or referencing the world but only one person, the Word |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 9:47pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie:1)So what does 'in the 'beginning' was the word' in verse 1 mean? 2)what does 'the word was with God in the 'beginning' in verse 2 mean too? What does the word 'beginning' refer to in those verses? Are they the same 'beginnings' or different? |

Michael547:It means In the beginning of creation the word was already present meaning he was not part of creation |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 10:05pm On Feb 14 |
Kobojunkie:Oga there is no language comprehension issue. Na you dey dodge. Verse 1 clearly does not refers to the 'beginning of the world' like you said earlier. It refers to the beginning which goes beyond that. That is why your screenshot uses the term 'ORIGINAL BEGINNING'. Jesus simply was in the ORIGINAL BEGINNING which existed before the beginning of the world. He has been with God since that ORIGINAL BEGINNING according to verse 2. Which also your screenshot can confirm. |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 10:06pm On Feb 14 |
Steep:So what beginning does verse 2 refer to? |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Michael547(m): 10:07pm On Feb 14 |
Emusan:That means that Jesus must be JEHOVAH in the old testament right? |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Emusan(m): 10:08pm On Feb 14 |
Michael547: Verse 1 already stated clearly that The Word was BEFORE BEGINNING which means He existed before beginning. |

clefstone:But that view with you affirm as the one you hold directly contradicts the Truth of God as declared in the Gospels by Jesus Christ Himself. So, where do these ideas you hold you which violate that stated in Scripture by Jesus Christ Himself come from? |
Re: In What Way Is The Father Greater Than The Son? by Steep(m): 10:13pm On Feb 14 |
Michael547:Did you see the article "The" attached to "beginning" it means there is only one beginning which is the period of time when God created things. The word was already present at the time he goes beyond creation. 2 Likes |

Emusan:Verse 2 says the word was with God 'in the beginning' what does that mean? Does that mean that it was during the beginning of creation that the Word was with God? |
