You just submitted now. 12 weeks is the average decision period for SOWP so by mid April (2months from now) you should be expecting an approval decision all things being equal.

Good evening everyone.

Please I have a question.

We submitted our passport in Friday. I have being getting notifications on the progress for the 4 of us. But Tuesday and Wednesday, the notifications excluded progress for my husband sowp. My self and the children's passport are ready for collection. I signed in to check and I see approved for myself and our kids.

Hubby status is not updated to approved, still showing submitted, why is this so? Tracking update doesn't include his tracking number. Last update was Monday. What do you think is happening?

Also, when would his status show approved or when would passport update say ready for collection. Really worried now

Apparently we're on d same boat..i just hope and pray that the ban on SOWP hasn't taken effect..cos that could be d reason. Is ur course of study masters or PGC?

I just hope d SOWP ban on colleges hasn't taken effect.. My wife's SP has been stamped and returned while mine hasn't..been 3 weeks now.. What tertiary institution are u attending?..where did u submit ur passport Lagos or Abuja.. Ours was submitted in Abuja.
Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Lebaron0312: 8:27am On Feb 15
The ban is not yet into effect. It's expected in the coming weeks... Even then it's unlikely that the applications that were submitted under the current law will be affected... So keep faith and keep our requests in prayers...

Whattt!!! but they requested for the passport now? And yours is 3 weeks since you submitted the passport?

I can't go without my hubby oooooo. Not healthy for a family at all.

My kids and I have been stamped. How long will this take?

Do we have anyone who received their SOWP stamped in the past few weeks?

I submitted in Lagos.
Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Mrobiwills: 8:51am On Feb 15
Exactly my point..why give PPR when u know it's not going to be approved..been psychologically down since last week..we are suppose to book our flight tickets for next month but right now we're in a fix.

The annoying part is that they're still approving SOWP applications till date..only yesterday two people in my group got approved..so my confusion is that why approve SOWP application if you're not going to stamp it

Your husband will get his stamped visa.
I haven’t seen or heard of any PPR without visa stamp.
Be positive and hopeful.

Did you submit a different passport from the one you provided during biometrics? My husband renewed his passport. So we are thinking maybe that is the reason for the delay.
Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Mrobiwills: 9:27am On Feb 15
I believe they'll stamp it..cos we already applied before the SOWP restriction was announced.

No I didn't..my best guess is that d SOWP is sent to Nairobi for stamping while SP is stamped in Nigeria..I've thought long and hard and I really don't believe Canada will seperate families who applied together. Let's trust God and believe everything will be fine at last.

I submitted on the 24th Dec so a day after yours.

We should be expecting our approval decision by next month if everything goes fine.

However you can also send webform appeal for update on your background check which takes the bulk of the time (1-3months).

If you are a 2nd or more time applicant, one of the ways you can know your application is going fine is when you get a medical pass but it's not a guarantee you will be approved cos ircc can refused application at any stage.

However for 1st time applicant, because u are yet to have your medical, they will prefer to proceed with your background check 1st so as not to allow you spend money doing medical should you fail background check. So 1st time applicant will need to wait till medical request after which ppr drops or if you did medical advance it will just drop after their normal 12 weeks. Only 2nd time or more applicant enjoys that medical passed notification because we already did medical before.

Note that if your application will not be favorable at 1st review by an ircc officer, even if your medical result is good, you will never get medical pass update because that update is suggesting process is going on fine which is not the case for an ineligible applicant.

I think it’s still early to raise a webform. When did you go for biometric?
Good luck to us.
Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Jeboy(m): 7:05am On Feb 16
You can raise a webform kind of appeal if kids are involved and are missing either parents. That way you may get some kind of fast track consideration of a week , 2weeks to 4weeks. Else you are on your own. 😆

I am not a 1st time applicant so I applied with my biometric ID and medical result both active.

I got medical passed i think a week later after sending my medical result as webform.
