I don't understand how these people will just charge someone accumulatively, why not do that after each service rendered? Does it mean each sms they send to us has a price tag on it? I'm asking because the only charges I know is that of the debit card maintenance, and others I may not remember now.

True story. You can never have peace of mind if your money is in any of this banks. They now scam their customers boldly without fear of repercussions.

On Wednesday this week (Valentine's day) I experienced wickedness in it's purest or should i say unpurest form

A client I've been doing some work for since January this year finally paid me my wages ( about 50k). I kept thanking God because that was the only money in my account i swear. I was DEAD broke

The greatest shock of my life came when i checked my balance after receiving the credit alert.

What i saw startled me to my bone marows.

The sum of 18000 ( eighteen thousand naira) was removed from my account without any debit alert. I immediately called the customer care around 11 PM that same day after transferring the remaining balance to my Opay

Luckily i was able to connect with one. He told me that the reason for the withdrawal was because i was debited all the cost of sms alert charges since 2021 till date that amounted to the 18k.

I wasn't having any of that. The next day (yesterday) i went very early to the bank and made the same complaint. The cashier there directed me to the customer care.
The customer care also said the same thing and confirmed it from her system that the 18k withdrawal was from the accumulated sms charge since 2021 and showed me my history which corroborated with what they were saying.

I now asked them why they had to wait for three years before debiting me in bulk, they didn't give any reasonable answer.

I almost ran mad. I didn't know when i raised my voice out loud till the security ushered me out.

Right now I'm devastated and broken. Because most of the money i was to use to service some loans and feeding.

Right now i really don't know what to do.

How can i recover my money please. I have almost lost my mind.

Someone help me out with suggestions please. I take God beg you.

What I'll say is write an open letter to them on all social media platform and copy CBN, EFCC. If what they said was true, I believe your attention should be called to this before deductions a chunk at once, after all they were supposed to be deducting after or during each transaction. The fact that they have your funds with them shouldn't make them behave anyhow. They need to act accordingly.

I don't have to believe it, but the Labour parties r smart enough to ensure a figure that can be verifiable must come correct since all they've to do is submit statements of accounts, but you see those other figures where it requires negotiation & third parties. Nah those can be manipulated. So if 50k accounts can be charged 18k as charges, imagine what will happen to an account housing a billion plus with massive inflows & outflows

How I stopped this madness from this fraudulent practices by commercial banks is requesting to stop sending sms alert to you.

In my case, it was GTB. On that fateful Sunday afternoon, I was debited 3 thousands plus for sms alert. I quickly entered online banking, deactivated sms alert. I only received email from any transaction I made, or better still you can verifying your transactions via App.

Overall, stop using sms alert , get notifications via your email with zero cost.

. Banks are scammers..i think pple are charged for every sms received including transaction alert, promotional message u ddnt ask for, birthday message, and every other miscellaneous message...that's why some pples SMS in a month gets as high without really doing transactions that many
