Hello everyone,
I'm having an issue currently. I used 3 lecturers as my recommenders. Currently 2 of them has been helpful by sending their recommendations, but the last person is showing nonchallant attitude. I don't know if I can remove him and use a friend as my 3rd recommender.

Also can anyone please share with my an example or template of a recommendation letter for admission?

Hey 🤠

1. You cannot hasten or rush your former lecturer or any genuine recommender into action (nonchalant..feeling relax ) but you can only plead to him or her the urgency or timeline of his contribution.

2. Yes you can remove him and use your friend as a counterfeit recommender but unfortunately for both of you , you must provide an official email for your friend (ie oladayo4@unilag.edu) on your application portal before your host University can accept your application . Academic recommenders (lecturers , HOD, etc) must use an official email where your host-University would send an exclusive messages to regarding your academic and character histories .

3. I know more than 15 different types of recommendation templates for international admissions but i won't write it out for you because IT IS ILLEGAL.

4. Why not humble yourself and call the 3rd lecturer by narrating the urgency of the situation . You may tip him if necessary or travel down to your Alma Mata and see him in person .

Remove him and use someone else. Go to your application page and change it.

You don’t have to use 3 academic reference. You can use one from your supervisor.

If you can’t answer this basic question, how do you want to ace grad or undergraduate program?

Cant you differentiate between a city and state?

URGENT!!

Hello everyone please I need the best options I could possible get!

For context, I am originally from Nigeria, went to school in Dublin Ireland, graduated, and went to further my education in the USA. I do not have an Irish residency or visa anymore however I want to renew my US F1 visa. I could do the Dropbox visa interview waiver option in Nigeria but then I need to have been initially given that visa from Nigeria so it is not an option.
well, my question is, can I drop off my passport in Dublin for renewal without an in-person interview since that is where I got it initially or would anyone know how to go about this? I also have a Canadian visa on my passport, does drop box work in Canada?
I cannot travel out of the USA to renew since the current visa already expired and I have just started my OPT. i do not want to risk it.

Thank you guys in advance
Xx

Hey 🤠

*** You should be dancing Lambada for starting your OPT because you 're on the verge of becoming a PR if you know what you 're doing .

1.  A US visa is solely for entry in to the USA and If you don’t need to enter the USA (you are inside already) then you don’t need a visa. That’s why you can’t get a US visa inside the USA — because if you are already inside the USA then you don’t need to “enter.

2. An F1 student is (almost) always admitted for “D/S” on their I-94 card , which means their status lasts indefinitely, as long as they continue to comply with the conditions of F1 status.

3. This means you can stay in the USA as long as you continue your studies (including OPT)) for which you have a valid I-20. It is only if you leave the USA and want to return after your visa’s expiration, would you need to get a new visa.

4. Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a 12 -Months Work Authorization available to international F1 students who plans to seek employment in the United States in their fields of study.

5. After completing your OPT, you have 60 days of grace to remain in the USA in which (within those periods) you may travel within the United States , transfer your SEVIS records to a New school, request a change of level (if you are starting a new program in the same school) OR APPLY to change status to another visa category .

6. Forget about the renewal and focus on your OPT and future employment plans. ** You will worsen your case if your renewal effort is denied .

Best Wishes 🙏

Hey 🤠

** My friend you cannot sit for an examination and mark the answer sheet . ** Your travel history has not changed but your eagerness to enter the United States has increased .

1. Okay i am the visa officer , please answer this question :. What did you travel to do in Tanzania, Ivory Cost, Dubai, Ghana, malawi,Mozambique and South aAfrica ?

2. I will give you the visa if the company you are working for or your present job or skills has taken you to those countries ON THE SAME CONFERENCE (which is now taking place in the USA) .

3. You have been marked (Immigrant intent ) at the embassy already but you will get your visa the day you got the mathematics . ** I can guide you appropriately if i get a clue of your profile .

4. In your next interview , the US embassy will verify those visas on your passport , and please direct your next question to the B1/B2 Visiting visa section .

Hi everyone, been following the thread.

For some of us waiting endlessly for admission decision, I'd advise you ask about your application status from your intended department's graduate coordinator.

For example, I emailed UVA Materials Science and Engineering and they responded that they had already contacted selected people, that I am not among.

PS: different schools and programs with different methods. Best wishes.

Please who applied for PhD at Dartmouth college?

After the response I got from UVA, I've also sent an email to my intended department in Dartmouth.

I've submitted PhD application since November 22, 2023 and no response till now.

I once emailed the graduate school and they said "In most cases, the Admissions Committee will render decisions by April 30."

Thanks for your advise. The truth is I've called and appealed to him severally. What I don't understand is why will he give me his details to submit as on of my recommenders and when it's time for him to recommend, he's acting the way he's doing. Attempting to compensate him financially will be disrespectful to him because this is someone who always exhibit high sense of moral values.

Hey 🤠

1. Your calling and appealing is not enough , and i did not mean you should negotiate with money directly but you can use your wisdom in that aspect . Most of our past teachers usually thinks by the time you started using Bentley you won't remember me and follows the Yoruba adage ( Êni tí ó bamã ã têlè tútù yío dâmī síwájú) .

2. USA (especially), Canada and Australian institutions and workplaces place great value on reference letters and recommenders because they don't know you and you are coming from a foreign background . They don't want a student or workers who will get to the class or office and open fire on their counterparts .

3. Check the complaint of @Harkstntunz, and the conversation among @deewhydoski, miscoe and Neondee above , they are complaining of hesitation in admission decisions . If you have straight As in WAEC, graduated with 1st class and score 600 in GRE and lack good recommenders your admission might be flopped.

5. If the lecturer is adamant and your admission time is galloping away then approach another lecturer . Your recommender needs official email to respond to your host school in the USA ie mrjoshua@covenantuniversity.edu.ng

6. How will your friend do that ? You may try to use internet tools and IP to mimmick some stuffs but it may not work as you want . ** Visit your school in person if you are not living far .

I used two of my previous employers as my recommenders. The school accepted. Kindly check your school requirements for referee report for either school or work recommenders. If you've been out of school for many years, I suggest you go for work referee as replacement.

Hey 🤠

1. Get your travel passport (Nigeria P) at hand and email different schools in USA (Google US Universities) .

2. Round up your academic credentials (waec , Bsc certificate, OND, HND, NCE, etc )

3. Talk to your sponsor before hand (you will need copy of bank statement before they issue your Form-I 20 (US admission letter ).

4. keep application fee ($50 -$150) which you must pay before you submit your application (some school can waive it though ) .

5. You will ask your Alma Mata ( eg UNIBEN) to send your undergraduate coursework s ..transcripts to the University you re applying to in the USA ( For MSc Application)

6. Keep $350 SEVIS fee which you will pay to the US government (after the issuance of your admission letter (Form I 20).

7. Your Form I 20 (admission letter) has arrived , now walk to GTBank and pay your visa fee (MRV) .

8. Book your visa appointment with your MRV payment receipt and your SEVIS payment confirmation slip .

9. Attend your interview .

10. Receive your visa .

Someone in the USA has to do it for you, so how do you intend to get the usd in your account in Nigeria to the USA?
Fastest option for payment is Western Union and there’s a 9.99 surcharge for that making it 359.99

Bank check
Money order
These are the other options you may explore if you have time to wait.

Good day everyone! i hope this finds you well. I have a visa interview coming up on the 20th of May and i need all the help i can get in preparing towards its success. I am new here and i am kind of finding it difficult navigating this forum. I will just get straight to my question.

FOR CONTEXT -
I graduated from the national open university of Nigeria with a 3.52 CGPA - Bsc Environmental science and resource mgmt. in 2016 and i have been a private home tutor since then. Although i have tried other businesses over the years as well.

i initially intended to apply for Msc in public health, which i did and i got admitted into 2 universities in Sweden, but because i didn't get a scholarship offers, i declined the admission offers and started seeking for admissions in the US AND Canada, also with hopes of getting a scholarship.

Long story short, i came across a Twitter(X) thread about Universities in the US with tuition waivers and that's how I heard about OAKLAND STATE UNIVERSITY, MI.

I applied and got admission for MSC PUBLIC HEALTH, but while waiting for my I-20 to be sent to me, i was going through the university's undergrad courses and realized there is a NURSING COURSE called ACCELERATED SECOND DEGREE BSN, 15MONTHS duration and which am qualified to apply for, so long as i have a Bsc in a science related field already. So, i applied and also got admitted.

The university then contacted me asking me which course i would want to carry on with because i cannot be admitted to both the Graduate and Undergraduate school. i told them i want to go for the Accelerated Bsn course at the undergraduate school. I was supposed to resume this summer on 2nd of May but because of a late visa interview date i had to defer to the Fall semester.

Now to my question, during the interview, when asked what i have been doing since my first degree and also if asked why i am switching to Nursing, how do i go about that? Also, when asked about my career goals after the nursing school how do i go about that?

P.S - I am the lastborn of four siblings and my elder brother who works in an international oil company is my sponsor.

Thanks, in anticipation for your response.

1. You scaled through being labelled a correspondence degree (NOUN) holder by a reputable University in the USA and got admitted to full MSc Public health and decline

2. Why are you in a haste ? Do you want to disappear and appear in the USA just like that ? Accelerated nursing programs allow you to earn a BSN degree quickly and you thought the University might decline your Public Health and went for the lesser one .

3. My friend , no matter how far you have gone on a wrong way turn back now . If it's possible change back to Public Health . It's not about just receiving form I 20 and memorize possible answers to questions .
