My dad was married to three wives before he got converted. CAC denied him the right to take holy communion and I remembered him telling the pastor that he can't divorce any of his wives simply because he is now a born again. He said he married each of them as a virgin and now that they had all finished giving birth he should send them away?

Because of this, he stayed away from church for several years. He only prayed and read his bible at home. He now attends Anglican sha after close to 20 years.

Where did the Bible say that the man should abandon or divorce the other wives?

At least God said that marriage is between a man and a woman.

If you go contrary, you should restitute by removing excess wives.

I've made up my mind never to comment on any religious arguments anymore but I had a change of mind after I read your post.

You see, so many men of God today won't even near heaven , talk more of making it. I'm not God but I can tell you vividly that most of them aren't on the side of God. They only refer to parts of the bible which suit their bidding. they're also fond of turning the bible upside down.

Have you heard of the story of Apostle Ayo Babalola, the founder of CAC? What of St. Moses Orimolade Tunolashe, who founded C&S? Apostle Babalola had a hell of a wife before he met Christ. After he became born again he kept the woman. During a crusade, this woman would mount the podium and ask him to give her money to cook soup. She had disgraced him on several occasions openly but God came to his rescue. There was a time he was preaching and this woman pulled his cloth and asked him to give her money. Apostle said there's money inside his agbada at home but the woman said she had ransacked everywhere but no money was found. He prayed to God in his spirit and asked the woman to go back and check and she'd meet money there. Truly, she got there and met mints of different denominations. She came back and said she met more than she needed and left.

Today, that woman would be divorced and the church of God would be ridiculed. She was used by the devil but he didn't prevail over Apostle Ayo Babalola. This man never preached prosperity but about the kingdom. Miracles happened in his time. I remember the story of Abeo, a woman whose corpse was dumped near her husband's place at oke ado in Ibadan cos her family said they'd not accept her corpse with pregnancy inside her. The husband too rejected her cos she left his place over a dispute for her family house where she actually took ill and died. She was already stinking where her body was dumped for 4 days. Apostle Babalola was having a crusade nearby . The woman woke up and ran to the revival ground. Those who knew her and witnessed it ran away.

She said a man in a white apparel came to her and said she should wake up and join her fellows at the crusade nearby, instead of lying down there. That was what led to the spread of CAC church in Ibadan and environs that time.

These men of God overcame tribulations, they served God wholeheartedly, preaching from village to village. Today they want to remain only in the cities where there's money or they go abroad to collect dollars from our people living there . They have branches overseas when most villages here are yearning for God's visitation. They ride on jets and expensive SUVs with high convoy and body guards. I wonder what a man of God is doing with a bodyguard whrn had God as his protector. Whenever death comes knocking, no amount of bodyguard wouid see it.

There was a day I slept after a short vigil. The Lord visited me and opened my eyes to see my church. He said, can you see how much these people are and I said yes. He said just look, only 3 people are fit for heaven. The capacity of the church I attend is a bit over 2,000. Out of 15 men of God in that gathering, only one was pointed to, as a qualified one. When I woke up, I was sober. I was praying. I told one of the pastors and he screamed. He asked me, if I saw him and I said I didn't cos the revelation was so clear.

The kingdom of God was the theme of the sermon the next Sunday grin. The man was the one who preached and was weeping. When Jesus asked if He'd find faith on earth when he comes back, He knew what he meant cos He knew the end from the beginning. Shalom!

What a lengthy and interesting read. I laughed too. Although I'm not religious anymore. I was born in C&S.

You can always input in religious threads. Just try to ignore the trolls and you're fine.
Shalom!

untrue in christianity.

The reason is: the minister is the mouth puece of god. The bible says: when the time comes, do not bother about what to say for it will be given to you by the spirit of god. matt 10: 19-
20.

So, your god giving you the right counsel through the mouth of any preacher, is not about the preacher's sanctity, but about god's faithfulness that he will give you counsel when you need it. He says even when you are unfaithful, I will always be faithfu anf cannot change from being that way! 2 Tim 2:13. He also gave counsel through the mouth of a donkey, Balaam's donkey; and the bible says a 'sinner' is worth more than billions of donkeys, correct?
...so how is pastor Chris a good example to his church members that have married....a situation where pastor Chris and his former wife cannot settle their issues in their marriage and reconcile and forgive each other...how is pastor Chris and his wife a good example to those of his church members that are married and his role model

That'a not the issue at hand. The issue is that it is not only wrong, but ungodly to put aside any of your wives because you claim you are now born again.

The bible never said that, christians ahould aeriously ask themselves where they got that idea from that a man should out aside one of his wives if he become born again.

Is it not a sin to do what God has not tod you to do? why christians accept to teach that falsehood is what is beyond me.

If you disagree with Oyakhilome, then put forward your arguement and show that they are superior to his. That is fair enough, right?
On what do u base your opinion?

As a pastor you can have issues in your marriage... nobody is perfect...but I expected pastor Chris and his wife would had try to settle their matter in their marriage and reconcile and forgive each other...but it didn't happen..the bible said we should forgive one another...why couldn't they forgive each other and settle the matter and reconcile to show good example to some of their church members that are married and married christians couples and their role model and the youths

Logically it's not proper for a man to send wives away cos he's now born again. We advise born against that are unmarried not to marry more than one wife. But for those who had more wives probably before being born again, they should keep their family cos when such men leave those wives, who go marry them?
How ll it affects their kids etc.
Sense is needed in religion and reality.
This is the true Christian doctrine!

We do not believe polygamy is something God approves of in this era. However, the Bible nowhere explicitly gives a “thou shalt not marry multiple wives” command. In the New Testament, a polygamist is ineligible for church leadership (1 Timothy 3:2, 12; Titus 1:6), but polygamy itself is not forbidden. Polygamy was not God’s original intent (Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22-33), but it was also something He allowed (see the examples of Jacob, David, and Solomon). The closest the Bible comes to forbidding polygamy is Deuteronomy 17:17, which is properly understood as God’s command against a king of Israel taking many wives. It cannot be understood as a command that no man can ever take more than one wife.

if a man has multiple wives and becomes a Christian, what is he supposed to do? If polygamy is illegal where he lives, he should do whatever is necessary to submit to the law (Romans 13:1-7), while still providing for his wives and children. If polygamy is legal, but he is convicted that it is wrong, he should divorce all but one wife, but, again, he must not neglect providing for all of them and their children. They are his responsibility. If polygamy is legal and he has no conviction against it, he can remain married to each of his wives, treating each one with love, dignity, and respect. A man who makes this decision would be barred from church leadership, but it cannot be said that he is in explicit violation of any command in Scripture.

Disclaimer: I don't usually agree with everything the pastor teach, but I understand where he is coming from on this subject.

This is my own opinion.

Keep your wives if you had more than one wife but know you will not be eligible to hold certain positions in church.( I.e pastor, elder, deacon etc).

Why? You are a gentile saved by grace. There were polygamous families in Apostle Paul's gentile congregation and even Paul himself understood that God did not condemn the Patriarch of Israel who had multiple wives so why should he condemn these gentiles who have polygamous background/culture for having two wives.

Even God himself told King David. " If you had ask me for more wives/women, I would have given you. Why commit adultery with another man's wife and kill her husband"(paraphrase)

God seeks mercy and not sacrifice, but we are quick to sacrifice new convert mercilessly on the altar of dogma.

God is sovereign and would have mercy upon whom he chooses to have mercy. We do not get to decide for him. So relax.

Christians are not meant to divorce except on grounds of infidelity.
So Chris cheated on Anita, hmmmmnnn. I see.

Person wey him wife leave am dey advise another man make e no leave him wife.
Blind dey lead blind.
Even on grounds of Infidelity, Jesus says you should forgive your neighbor (including your wife) seventy times seven times. The prayer is not to marry the wrong person- meaning, someone who does not genuinely love the Lord!
