Is this increase based on sentiment or value. Will it be okay to sell now and then wait for the price to ful then buy again?

What do you advise?

Gtbank will touch #60 and zenith #50 after another round of revaluation by first quarter of 2024 results.
The only problem is cbn restrictions on what the banks can do with the gains.Going forward they will be allowed to use them when naira appreciate and long time stability is achieved in forex
And some of this gains are nolonger paper gain as banks whr force to sell off a ratio of thr forex holdings

The CBN is in order not to allow banks use forex revaluation gains to pay dividends or for opex. It should be in a reserve account. This is because the exchange rate is not fixed and when naira stengthens, such reserves will come in handy to avoid rocking the boat. It's still part of equity and can be used to make money but shouldn't be seen as profits attributable to stakeholders.

for me the bolded is the key, imagine 500bn revaluation gain from UBA being invested in TB at current rate of over 20%, that is an assured 100bn profit for 2024 FY without any cost involve (no depositor to pay interest on the capital because it is part of equity)

Note that the fx revaluation gains are largely unrealized.

This has been the pattern and policy of CBN when banks is about to release, or has released their result indicating forex gains. Thereafter, this news will depress the market (especially banking stock) for a while before picking up again. The coming week will indicate if the same scenario will repeat itself.

The rates increase is the upside, the CRR increase is the downside.

**Above are for the banks. But, I believe both are good for stabilizing the economy and even putting it on better footing.

No be Oga Agba fault ooo, Na Ichimoku strategy and Fibonachi retracement cause confusion in d midst of Elliott wave.
The confusion generated by these technical waves made Oga Agba indecisive for too long.
He believes, Zenith is going to crash to Km 17,
GTB @km 18.
From all indication, his last investment in NGX was June 2023.
The dead bone shall rise again.
Agba will deal a major blow to NGX when the index obeys Ichimoku strategy at ASI of 45,000 by 2038.
Lol

.How? Didn't cbn ask them to sell down composirly this yr.The ratio is what I don't know but it was significantl and has remained a policy.I believe they should have 50% or above real gain and not paper profit

And this bank ceos are part of the government. They will never allow thr paper gains to turn to paper lose without taking action

You're right. With the sell down and gain realized, should be part of distributable profit/working capital. For the 2024 financial year. Not 2023 FYE benefits.

Looking like Q1 2024 financials for some of them would be very good.

Deadly truth & other investors of IEI,

I am still waiting for the answer of the question I asked yesterday.

IEI will be trading at a bargain junction today. The stock is likely to touch #1.21 today.

If they still have their minority shareholders in mind, buying at the lowest price of #1.21 today shouldn't be neglected.

My worries
I learned the core investor bought the company 100% at 1.60 per share.Based on their latest report, the core investor has 50.6% of the total shares. From my findings, the core investor has applied for a mandatory takeover bid of the remaining 49.4% which belongs to the minority shareholders but at what price?

Whichever way, the stock at #1.21 down to #1.00 is a win win and I will be entering the stock at it's 10% loss today.

Still expecting your views/opinions on this matter.

Which one is IEI bro? Couldn't find it on investing.com app
Have been following your contributions on the thread and I will say kudos to you.
Have bought some champions and tip stocks after checking their fundamentals which kind of suite me aside champions free cash flow report.

Good day guys, I'm new here...

I'm but a humble student who's interested in learning all i can about proper investment as i will soon be graduating from the university.

Nairaland had played a big role in my life in terms of guidance and advice from well experienced superiors, i wouldn't be where i am today if not for some wise advise from fellow nairalanders, currently in school and doing well (at least better than most of my mates ), trying to set a good foundation for my future after school.

i'm 25 and i am interested on starting a journey on investing and would really appreciate any advice that will help me succeed in this path.

Thanks in advance.
