Is this short time solutions or for how long.
I think we have leaders without vision. This is far from what the solution to Nigeria problems are. A leader with vision would have started flushing the bandits l mean boko haram . This will mean farmers security equal to food security then improved power supply which means less dependence on fuel for homes and companies . Doing this along with this kind of programme will make the people know they are serious not giving palliative as if people are beggars. We don't need this fix the country, we will fend for ourselves

Good

But the first question is how sustainable this is? Will the states be buying food and selling at discounted price going forward? .

Secondly is that this is a distortion of the same market reforms Tinubu claimed to be carrying out. If you're creating a parallel market for goods, you are opening the market as a whole up for abuse and disruption in supply as the state certainly has more purchasing power than other marketers. A model closer home is the fuel subsidy that's being grappled with today.

The states and FG should instead invest in agriculture on a mechanised scale while giving food stamps to low income earners to augment their supplies.

I think it is good.
All states should be doing the same.
Anyone who can afford it should still go shop anywhere they want.

This is like dollar general - everything is 99c 😊

Yes they should invest in agriculture and farming. Help farmers (improve security and financial services)

I wonder if sukkot go shop there or still buys his foodstuff at shoprite 🤔

The name 'Ounje Eko'.
In the past, Lagos, being a mini Nigeria would most likely have used a more cosmopolitan name for the initiative. Hence my comment.
Very childish..
Your reasoning is so damp.

Your comment has no meaning nor does it have any direct impact on the initiative other than your usual tribal outcry. Whatever code name the government decided is none of your business. It would be if there was a tribal restriction. No one has complained online that he was turned back because he isn't Yoruba, so, why the comment?

First, they impoverish the masses.

Then they pretend to come to their rescue with stipends and palliatives.

The masses then see them as Messiah.

Next elections, they come out and the Foolish Masses fight anyone who thinks they should be voted out.

Sadly, Nigerians are not worth fighting for.

They are in love with their tormentors

I ask again, is this sustainable
I don't think it is meant to be sustained. The goal is to bring down price level. Prices were arbitrarily hiked because of fx panic. Also for the big time players, export became more attractive than supply to local market.
Goal is to push back on price level on staple food while ramping up production.
So it's a band aid.

These are meant to quiet the masses and off course it will work. Few months back you were buying garri for 1000. Today it is 2500. They tell you to come and take it at discount price of 2000 and you will take it while singing their praises. Na hunger go finish una

This is commendable at least.

But there ought to be at least 2 centers in every LGA in Lagos state.

@LibertyRe, you need to wake up and smell the coffee. After the sickening attitude of Igbos against Yoruba people in their own land, Lagos, during the last general elections, things are beginning to change. Ounje Eko is a timeless reminder that Lagos is Yoruba land. If this offends your sensibilities, you can simply refuse to buy from such subsidised market, or you might just leave Lagos.

Things are no longer the same!!!
