I had a funny experience with my former tailor last year. I got some Ankara materials to be sewn for my son; about five materials and one for myself. After my tailor was done, he called that I should come for the clothes.

To my surprise, the boy refused to wear the clothes. I felt he was not in a good mood the first day so after some days, we brought out the clothes for him to wear any as they were nice. The boy started screaming on sighting the clothes. It was unlike him. A boy of three. He would embrace any new clothes bought for him and anticipate joyfully the day he's going to wear them. The case was different this time around.

We kept the clothes for weeks and after bringing them out again, he'd start running away. It clearly dawned on me that something was definitely wrong. Where could the problem come from? I started asking. Could it be from the material or the tailor himself?

I gave the tailor a call and explained to him that my son joyfully received the previous clothes he sewed for him but he wouldn't accept the last one. He ended the call immediately. I dialled again and the number was switched off. If the phone had gone off inadvertently at least he'd have called back after charging; he didn't. I called back next day he didn't pick. I called with another number and he picked, unknown to him it was I who called. I didn't bother to speak further. It was clear he wasn't innocent.

I didn't believe in stuff like that until I experienced it. I wore one the clothes he sewed to test if it was nice before getting home. I never wore it to any occasion though; just for testing. After the discovery and experience, I burnt all the clothes. This guy is good when it comes to sewing. I wonder why he'd engage in fetish things.

Beware of all these tailors out there. A good number of them are diabolical.

No offense, could it be he refused to give you attention on the ground that you pay him peanut with respect to Biz transaction with him always?

Work men always give attention to their highest bidders even if they are extremely busy with another gig or personal issue.

Any reasonable person can see that the tailor's action of running is suspicious in itself and can only raise a strong presumption of guilt and that it is only right for op to come to the conclusion he came to.

For the innocent do not run but defend themselves. Only the wicked runs when no one is pursuing them.

Sorry, it's not a wise decision. I also do business and get different complaints and annoying things from customers. I maintain every dialogue objectively without emotions.

When such and allegation is made as you may want to term it, you simply defend yourself. Either the customer wants to believe you or not is then left to him/her.

The tailor's responsibility is to sew. If it doesn't fit. He'd adjust. But if a child at that age who doesn't have a choice neither doesn't know if it fits refuse to wear his craft, he owes no one explanation.

Do you know how many times an event is repeated to arrive at a particular outcome before it's labelled 100% confirmed? Why not buy similar materials, give to another tailor to saw same design since you are already cynical with that one. Then present to the child and observe. If he doesn't react as you stated. Take them back and exchange with the first onces and observe again.

People have been lynched for false allegations of witchcrafts practices.

I'm sure you read my post carefully sir/ma'am. My child has never rejected anything bought for him. Those were the only thing he ever rejected.

I later sewed the remaining yards from some of the materials for him from another tailor, he embraced it. I won't talk much. Trust everyone with your property, believe everything you see. Disregard the existence of fetishism. It's cool.

It's a faceless forum. You may even come across same person and trust him with your things, fine. It's a free world.

The tailor is nice, if na me I will have you arrested so you can explain how you tested and confirmed he was fetish. That's how you go about spoiling people's business

My 14yr daughter right from when she could speak doesn't like wearing nigerian cloths. She complains they itch (the sequins and finishing) and are generally uncomfortable. I can understand and relate (no pain no gain is my native motto) and also know many natives I've made for my boys that has been a struggle to get in and out of. We have a going joke that the cloths are constructed by carpenters not tailors. The OPs child might have had similar experiences with natives and is thus running and crying.

Ultimately, It takes one to know one, ie. A diabolic mind will often suspect others of such, and a untrusted soul will be distrusting of others

More than three occasions because I found it difficult to discard the clothes as they were five in number and well designed.

Has there been anything similar of this nature you both have once experienced that you had to believe his instinct this time around?. Although, some kids could be spiritually gifted but what will make a Taylor want to harm his own customer’s kid for no reason at all. I think you should have just gone back to the Taylor unannounced with the clothes then yourself and your child to see for yourself what actually seem suspicious. Because this is the first time most people are hearing this and again everyone sews clothes, it now like putting fears on people for no clear reason as your phone conversations with him isn’t enough to bring this up

in addition you shouldn’t have burnt them (the cloths). Instead gift them to a nabour’s child make them know it source and telling them your child didn’t like them and then watch in observation. I still feel you didn’t do enough to come with a conclusion. Moreso, a way to have apprehended the tailor and get him arrested if anything had happened to whoever had put the cloths on. Please do more background investigation next time. This is so strange that nothing concrete was revealed order than just suspicion thereby putting other customers at a higher risk if indeed he isn’t innocent. But God go catch am sha. It’s never too late!

So now, what is your advice to us about this experience?

Honestly I have cloth with a tailor now, although the guy is a Muslim and fasting this season, so I should hope some safety is assured at least.
