Well it depends o, I just got out of one which seemed so promising, was in it for three years but the guy decided to dump me for some "unreasonable reasons". But just as I said the promising aspect depends.

Its not so promising o.

I was in a relationship where i met the guy during Service, i asked him if he was in a relationship when he asked me out, the dude denied it and said they had just broken up due to distance.

After i had fallen in love hook, line and sinker, i discovered he was in a very serious relationship with someone back at home in the south west for years now, his family is even aware, we were in Abuja and he never broke up with her.

He was just looking for an Abuja Gf.

You be the judge.

I learned my lesson sharply, if a guy asks me out now and tells me "he just broke up", na run i dey run for my life o.
How does this ur story affect the Topic..

Re: How Promising Is Distance/social Media Relationship? by wordychap: 3:06pm On Dec 04, 2014
Presently in a long distance relationship that's lasted 7 months still counting.
I'd say its all got to do with trust n communication.
In mine we talk for hours everyday anytime; thanks to a special go line.
but atimes one wonders what d girl is up to especially when she's not picking her calls etc
Financially, I don't think its any different from having a nearby girl bc d accumulated spending on the nearby girl overtime will equate that of d distant girl esp when she has to visit- flight fare etal.
Emotionally, abeg I'm better off, no unexpected knock on my door or call to come over n all.
Satisfaction wise, one has to learn to stay without a mate physically n I think d times we spend apart makes our love grow stronger, n d love erupts in bliss when we meet months after!

It works. Depends on the people involve. Their committments, dedication, honesty and trust. And also discipline.

Re: How Promising Is Distance/social Media Relationship? by Nobody: 3:42pm On Dec 04, 2014
Long distance/social media relatnships sometimes work, if both parties are truly serious, but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.Case in point;a young lady travelled to Aba to physically meet a guy she met & had bn chatting with, on Facebook,on meeting with him at the park waiting to welcome her,he quickly told her she looked different from the person he saw on Facebook..lol grin grin, and he ended up dumping her at d park & quickly disappeared. The babe sef no come carry extra cash, just incase. She found herself stranded without cash to go back to her state,it was the mercy of the park manager of the vehicle she earlier used, that saved her ass.We were actually in the same vehicle,it was after she dropped, the conductor now narrated all this to us.So much for social media relatnshps...SMH.

when you two have built a solid foundation before the distance issue comes in then there's a chance. But if you are starting off with a distance scenario, i'm afraid it wont yield any result

Have been in one for the past three years. Initially, it was making sense but i tell you, now ehhhh, the relationship aint making sense any longer. We hardly communicate and she is even seeing it as a very big task to come visit me. I tell you, I've given up a long time ago but haven't broken up, not like i even have any hope again sef...
