Hello !
I applied in 2013 and got my UCI. If I track the application since last year, this is what I get 'We received your application for permanent residence on November 18, 2013.'
Meanyl my friend I applied with has gotten her permit and went to canada early this month. Anybody in my shoes? Should I email them? Any feedback would be dearly appreciated.

It is really strange that your application has not been finalized since November 2013 (Although there are few cases where extra processing/background check is required),I suggest you send a case specific enquiry to Accra visa office to know the status of your application.

I have seen quite a few people who were supposedly sent email to proceed on medical examination and the email got lost in the process.

As advised earlier, please send a case specific email to Accra and also send a request for your GCMS note (This will enable you know in summary the position of your application with CIC).

As earlier advised ,please send a mail to Accra as soon as you can.
Also use the link below to send CSE to Accra as soon as possible .Let them know you have not heard any status about your application via your email address.

I know some buddies in your shoe but some have been told their application is on queue .
As suggested also, gcms notes is a good idea to track the status too.......it may cost you about 30CAD since you're not in Canada. You can also tell your friend to do it for you since he/she is in Canada already for about 5CAD.

If you're doing it from Nigeria ,you can pay for the service charge through paypal account.

Hello great people!
I just sent my application today through FedEx, and I have no doubt it will get there by the last day of the year, with assurances from FedEx. I really want to thank all of you here, whenever i need any information all i did was to Google this Forum conversation and get answers without paying. Initially, i wanted to use Agent, but after paying 20k for listening to him tell me what i know already and then, asked me to pay another $4000, i decided to harm my self with information from this forum and process my application by myself. permit me to single out "Solomonwise;his information and on-point responses to every questions, is making a Mess of the so-called Nigeria-Canadian registered Agents.
Thank you all.

Please raise CSE to Accra visa office to notify them of the seemingly error made before/during submission stage.Let them know it was not a deliberate mistake as it was as a result of misunderstanding of the instruction.
Notify them as soon as possible and attach the updated form when sending the CSE to Accra.
Use the link below for the CSE to Accra visa office.

I recently raised a CSE to Accra (precisely 23rd December, 2014) to inform them about my change of address and status as I am now in the US on study visa. I hope my earlier CSE will not conflict with the new one you advised me to raise?

Thank you.

You will be surprised in this program, the first shall be the last. A lot of people have not taken time to understand the process as it is. Many application will be returned unprocessed to pave way for applications that are well packaged.

Even as you need to be time conscious, remember this is a year long program {May 2013 to April 2014}. Send in your application when you are ready as long as you are guided by the cap of your eligible occupation.

So many people are rushing to submit “mistakes” and it will pave way for well packaged applications.

How many people know they have to submit 6
Photographs with the name, date of birth and date the passport was taken at the back of just 5 of the pix?

So many things to consider before binning CAD$550 plus other incidental costs!

@Solomonwis,you're God sent.I need your help even though my question may be similar to others.
*I have an uncle who is a Canadian citizen I just recently contacted him letting him know I wanted to immigrate to Canada.@Solomonwis my question is which is the fastest and hassle free way to move since I have an uncle who is a citizen, also what are the steps to take since I'm a fresher in this Canada Immigration stuff.

Hoping to hear from you.Thanks

Yeah. Under the current FSWP system, it is already late.
You can apply for the EXPRESS ENTRY which will start on the 1st of January 2015.

Welcome on board.

The "fastest route" for now remains the "Express Entry" immigration system. The term "fastest" is relative as it depends largely on your qualifications and a number of other factors.

Since the emphasis is on your uncle's ability to sponsor you,you might as well consider the family sponsorship route. Please note that your uncle will need to prove beyond doubt his ability to sponsor you. This route (Family Sponsorship) is not by any means fast as lot checks go into it.

Please read through the posts on Express Entry and then ask questions where necessary on the thread.
Re: Canadian Federal Skilled Worker Program-timelines Here by Nobody: 7:29pm On Dec 28, 2014
Thought this might be helpful for express entry applicants :

For those who want to work in a regulated profession, it is advisable to contact your regulatory body and request for the regulatory process. If possible, commence the process of registering with the appropriate board.

This would spice up your CV and show that you mean business to prospective employers looking to hire foreign workers via JObank.

ECA definitely shows credential equivalent to Canadian standard, but sometimes these regulatory boards use their own standard too.

A prospective employer would find it quite easy to nominate / offer a job to a foreigner who has " eligible for licensure with / eligible to write qualifying exams .......( say nursing board of British Columbia)" rather than another foreigner who hasn't shown a little bit of "commitment " in contacting his or her occupation regulatory body.

Of Paramount interest is the Saskatchewan PNP requirement for health regulated professions. You must shown eligibility for licensure / professional examination with the college of registered Nurses/ psychiatric nurses / licensed practical nurses of Saskatchewan before being nominated.

N.B: my thoughts aint hard and fast rule. I just hope it would help EE candidates

Hi Guys

I sent in my application for FSWP on October 9 and I was debited on December 22. For those who have received PER I would greatly appreciate it if you can answer the question below

When would the visa office request for proof of funds? Can you give me a time frame either from when you received your PER or when your account was debited?
I want to ensure that there are sufficient funds in my account when they eventually request for an updated proof of funds.

Thanks!!!

Congrats for been debited already .
Depending on satisfaction of your POF evidence ,nobody is sure of been asked update of POF by the local visa office even though i always prefer that applicants prepare ahead for it.
On the timing btw PER and this POF update request ,you should be expectant of correspondence from local visa office between the tail end of first quarter and beginning of second quarter of 2015.

@damkollin, solomonwis, hello in house.
I'm applying for the Canadaian Federal skilled workers program, although I just started the application this month. I've paid for the Educational Credential Assessment through WES and I was asked to submit my WAEC Credentials but unfortunately, I got to WAEC Office Yaba and was given the information and method of how I can go about requesting for the transcript to WES. I came back again like on the 26th and was told that WAEC has closed for the year.I just paid for the IELTS Exam and I'm scheduled the write the test on the 29th January next month. It takes about 4-6 weeks for my university to forward an ex-student transcript to an international organisation and my Aunt in Canada just came back to the country for the holidays. She is suppose to help me with the proof of relative document the CIC are requesting for and the information I have is that, this program will run till April 2015. My question is this.
1. Is there a timeline for one's application to be submitted to the CIC
2. If there is, what do I do to keep my application without being disqualified, maybe as a result of late submission.
3. Can I use a relative who is a citizen of USA in replacement of someone who has a Permanent Resisdence in Canada.
Thank you.

Hmmmmmmmmm
Tough call from you.
Firstly ,if you're referring to the current FSWP ,the Canadian gazette that came out on 26th April ,2014 actually stated it was going to run till 30th April,2015 with a clause that a future gazette may be released to counter it.1st December ,2014,another counter Canadian gazette came out to realistically end the program by 31st December ,2014 with a further introduction of another program with a different set of instructions for the current one.......please read more about this new program in the link below
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/express-entry-immigrants.asp
Also, take the pain to read back between 10 to 20 pages of this thread to see information that have been shared and discussed regarding it.
Regarding your ECA evaluation by WES ,were you specifically told by WES to evaluate your WAEC credential /certificate or you are the one that concluded it should be done?
One thing I'm sure is that WES never made it mandatory for applicants in Nigeria to evaluate WAEC certificates so you need to be careful in your assumption of what needs to be done .
Your three questions seems to be inconsequential because the program is already ending but I'll try to answer it.
1.Timeline doesn't matter again because there is a new program kicking off by 1st January ,2015.
2.Realistically,you're late for this FSWP already.....if your application is received after 31st December ,2014,it will be returned back to you and will not be processed with current instruction of FSWP.
3.Only Canadian permanent residents/citizens is eligible ....US citizens are not eligible.
Cheers.

FEW DAYS TO THE LAUNCH OF EXPRESS ENTRY
This is a general overview of Express Entry

Step 1 – Completing an Online Express Entry Profile

Potential applicants must complete an online Express Entry profile where they will provide information about their skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other details. Applicants must verify their language skills by submitting valid language test results, and generally must affirm the legitimacy of their education by submitting Educational Credential Assessments if they received their education from outside Canada. There will be no limit to the number of people who may enter the Express Entry pool.

Those who meet the criteria of the FSWP, the CEC, the FSTP, and the PNP will be placed in a pool of candidates. (As of writing, CIC representatives have begun orally confirming that it is doing away with the eligible occupations list for the FSWP and CEC. ) Candidates will be ranked against other applicants in the pool. How this ranking system will work has yet to be unknown.

Candidates in the pool will be given a score to determine their place in the pool using a Comprehensive Ranking System that is based on a maximum total of 1200 points. The Comprehensive Ranking System will be based on factors including skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other factors. Candidates will not be given their ranking in the pool but will receive updates from CIC regarding the minimum point score that was selected to receive Letters of Invitation. This minimum point score will fluctuate as need for the Government of Canada to meet immigration quota commitments.

It is important to note that merely completing an online Express Entry profile or qualifying for an existing economic immigration program does not guarantee that a candidate will receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence. Only the candidates who rank highest in the pool, and those with qualifying offers of arranged employment or provincial/territorial nominations, will be invited to apply for permanent residence. The importance of having a qualifying offer of arranged employment or provincial/territorial nominations is that each is worth 600 points out of the maximum 1200 points available under the Comprehensive Ranking System. In other words, an otherwise “flawless” candidate who does not have qualifying arranged employment or a provincial/territorial nomination cannot get more points than someone who does.

It is not clear how often CIC will send out Letters of Invitation, although at the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration, David Manicolm, the Acting Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic and Program Policy, Department of Citizenship and Immigration), stated that it will be every two weeks. CIC will post the number of candidates who get an ITA for permanent residence on its Annual Immigration Levels Plan.

Candidates who do not already have valid job offers from Canadian employers, or provincial/territorial nomination, must register with the Government of Canada’s Job Bank which will connect them to Canadian employers. Where applicable, employers will be required to obtain Labour Market Impact Assessments (“LMIA“) from Employment and Social Development Canada (“ESDC“). The LMIA fee will be waived for employers using the Express Entry system. It is not clear whether employers of LMIA exempt foreign nationals (people working under open work permits, free trade agreements, etc.) will need to first obtain LMIAs before their employees can receive a Letter of Invitation.

When an Express Entry candidate is identified through a PNP, they will be quickly invited to apply for permanent residence. However, provincial nominees may only use the Express Entry program if they meet the criteria of at least one of the federal immigration programs. Provincial nominees who do not meet the requirements of one of the federal programs will be able to submit permanent residence applications using the traditional streams.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool who do not receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence after 12 months may resubmit their profile and re-enter the pool if they still meet the criteria.

Step 2 – Receiving to a Letter of Invitation

Candidates who receive a Letter of Invitation to apply for permanent residence will have 60 days to submit an electronic application for permanent residence through either the FSWP, the FSTP, the CEC, or the PNP. Paper based permanent resident immigration applications in the economic streams will cease to exist. (One can only hope that the same will soon be true in the Family Class.)

CIC has committed to processing the majority of complete applications within six months or less.

Where Does this Leave Students

A quick review of the above suggests that Express Entry will make it almost impossible for most International Graduates to immigrate to Canada. By requiring LMIA-based job offers, Express Entry would appear to gut the CEC, which is currently one of the most popular options for International Graduates to immigrate to Canada as International Graduates typically cannot meet prevailing wage requirements as their positions are entry-level. Unless the LMIA regime changes, it will be very difficult for most International Graduates to obtain LMIA-based job offers, and to immigrate to Canada. Unless a detail of Express Entry has yet to be announced which changes this assessment, Canada’s version of Express Entry, as opposed to Australia’s and New Zealand’s, might make it very difficult to recommend Canada as a destination for international students.
