I don't know about Callahan, hope they meet or even surpass manufacturers specification.

If I were in your shoes, I'd take some days off, remove the catalytic converter, soak it in detergent mixed with distilled water bath for say over night, check the O2 sensors and Heater Sensors for efficiency, if they are bad, I'd replace them but I'd install spacers before re-installing the heater or O2 sensor.

I got the rotors from Amazon and as a rule, i stick with products with 5 stars before i buy.

Per the catalyst, i have done this before, but i never left it over night. Say, a few hours. how do you know a bad sensor? and then, any idea on how to do the spacing thingy?

You should use a multimeter, or a live reading from an OBD ii scan tool should point out the voltage. Spacers are used to fool the ECU by creating more space between the O2 or Heater sensor and the exhaust so lesser exhaust gases passes thru the sensor hence making the ECU feel its getting an accurate reading. Its just a small bit of metal. Go to yellow near abbattior or Zuba in Kubwa spareparts shops. They are in kubwa and they should get the spacers. Carry your faulty O2 sensor or heater sensor along so you can get to check for the size.

It seems no one drives the is350 around here, it's a rare car compared to the es350...or maybe Nigerians love anything on wheels that looks like a Toyota Camry

I love the IS series. Some guy here wanted selling off an IS250 AWD last month, I called him personally, and tried to strike a deal with him, but I was discouraged after I conducted little secret investigation. That said, the IS series is a beautiful car to look at and drive the Is250 feels slightly under-powered, but the IS350 is good, rear seat legroom is small because its an entry level compact sedan, its spring suspension are quite soft tuned for any serious sporty performance and only the IS250 comes in manual tranny. However, I'm more inclined to tall non-sporty things, this is a conscious and deliberate attempt to prevent myself from driving extremely dangerously.

I don't know if its still on sale or if its been sold off.

I discovered the price to be unusually low for such a car bearing in mind its a 2009 model, I called the seller, he said its 1.6m I told him I saw his advert earlier and what he indicated on the thread then the owner decided he can sell it for 1.4m and I had not bargained yet. That singular decision on his part made me raised an eye brow,
the CHECK ENGINE and VSC Indicator was solidly on, a closer look at one of the 2 pictures he sent revealed it had a crack in one of the headlamp. And the front bumper seem slighty misaligned where it meets the fender by the passenger side.
I told him to send me more pictures for my evaluation before I make any move to travel from Ibadan to Abuja yet, he failed to do so.

These issues made me backed off the deal.

Lexus ES330 2005

Carry out a wheel balance & alignment. Most likely the culprit.

had this done on the 22nd of December and then did a total of about 750 miles of driving over the xmas period.
Could it have fallen off alignment?

There is a high possibility that could happen especially with the level of potholes on our roads. It would not be out of place to do it again.

Hello house. I'll appreciate your advice on this matter. I use the rrecommended sae 5w30 oil on my 08 es350 which has covered about 140k miles. I change oil and filter as the manual prescribes. Recently I noticed this clanking sound whenever I turn on the car after sitting in the sun for long. It doesn't happen in the morning. My mech says its because the oil is too light and it dries off the timing chain resulting in the said noise. He suggests I start using total quartz 5000 which is thicker and cheaper. The ride drives silky smooth other than this issue.

I quite agree with you. what do you advice I do about the sound?
I'm not a technical person but I'm quick to learn. Could you explain what dangers there are if one uses total quartz 5000 in a lexus?
Is the high mileage an indicator for a switch to heavier oils?
Thanks

He should be hardworking and knowledgeable enough to work through the source of the noise and correct the anomaly rather than quickly advising you to go against the manufacturers recommendation. I wouldn't know where the clanking noise comes from because I've not observed it. However, you could google the description of the problem and see what google has to offer. Mind you, the engine used in the ES350 is same found in camry, avalon, venza, highlander IS350, Gs350 and RX350. One person might have come accross such problem before and worked his/her way thru, made a good headway and was kind enough to post it online.

Check www.clublexus.com and www.toyotanation.com

Go thru 3rd and 4th gen highlander and camry 2007-2014.

I would advice you stick to manufacturers oil.

Hmmmm! 1st things 1st, what did you keep in that car that made it "vandal savvy"?

Don't put bags, purse, envelopes, wallets, keys, documents, electronic and ICT gadgets, ID cards, cash, ATM cards, credit cards, valuable in your car exposed where people can see it. Hide these items. I personally will take everything off my car away with me when I want to leave my car. If your cargo area is exposed, invest in a toneau cover or cargo cover. Also park your car in well light up area, near working CCTV camera, or near a security outfit and familiarize yourself with the security officers there by chatting with them and offering them some gifts (cash or kind).

Invest in a car cover when you park at evening and don't wish to use the car for that evening again, install the cover on the car.
Lexus Don't install motion, vibration or shock detection alarm systems in their cars.
You can invest in a shock sensor. But make sure it doesn't interfere with the systems in the vehicle for your RX350 is highly computerized
.

Hey vikkyndu sorry for not replying your query. You didn't quote me and that didn't draw my attention due to many ish I've been handling. Hope I'm not to late?

A lot of things could cause these things to go haywire.

How long has this problem been on your lexus?
Lemme ask you these questions, did you carry out any repairs or change/modification in your lexus prior to this issue?
If yes, what did you change and why did you change them?

Pls reply me so we can be of help to you. Thanks.

Hello House

I use a Lexus rx300 and I have a CEL light which is caused by P1155, bad AF sensor.that's the only code from a scan.I gave my mechanic the task to replace
however I just realized my mechanic used a wrong part as replacement(an O2 sensor rather than Af sensor)
the original part number is 89467-48011 but the one used by my mech is 89465
I still get my P1155 despite the replacement
I would like to find out if you have the AF sensor and price or a work around to use the O2 in place of the AF sensor since they're almost same
Also can the old faulty sensor be fixed in anyway(say soaking in hydraulic oil or any other possible hack).
thanks
