The plan according to this source is to prevent Muhammadu Buhari from gaining victory at the poll. According to SR, the Jonathan government is to bribe NASS members with $2m and $1m each for Senate and Reps members respectively.
The plan here is for them to invoke Section 135(3) of the Constitution and declare the ING.

Aside from the fact that all theories appear disjointed and does not portray in anyway as to how Jonathan will benefit from the schemes, it also begs for the question of what is the possibility?

Firstly, Jonathan had told the US Secretary of State Mr John Kerry that the election will be held and a New Government inaugurated come May 29. President Jonathan repeated the statement in his media chat. So far, there has been no clue as to whether he plans to remain indefinitely. He also debunked the story of handing over to the Military or any illegal government

Secondly, the talk of Interim National Government is alien to our constitution. There is no way that can happen when we have no constitutional crises. There is no way Abdulsalam or Minimah can assume power except there is a coup. If there is any, then there will be a counter coup. Assuming Jonathan even considers bribing the NASS to get the six(6) months extension, he doesn't need an Abdulsalam or an ING to lead during the extension period. Section 135(3) of the Constitution is very clear that the incumbent preside over the country for the period of any extension. Considering that the opposition controls the House, the ruling party have the Senate, except there is a compromise, that will not scale through.

Thirdly, if the President is to exploit the Military. it will be to give PDP undue advantage at the poll by harassing the opposition on the day of election, and not to handover power to any Gen Minimah or a phantom ING that isn't feasible anywhere.

This talk of an ING is baseless, a distraction, a tool to heat up the already saturated polity. It is one propaganda too many. It is a threat to peace and our collective unity. I have absolute confidence that the election will be held and winner will be inaugurated come May 29.

She expressed her frustration and became worried. At the meeting, Mimiko told her not to worry that actions were in place to turn things around. That some report from SR are correct does not make everything to be. Three(3) postulations have been made (if not more) on this ING thing. I did my own analysis and found them to be hogwash. What I expect from you and others is to tell me "how" that is possible rather than saying "it is unexpected of me". Gen Minimah is from a minority tribe, how can he be able to lead such a phantom ING? How will the ING benefit Goodluck Jonathan? How do you think such illegality will stand? I wanted to keep quiet for now on this thread because this is coming from barca. But I feel like making just a point because of the highlighted paragraph.

Is it not the same president that promised not to go for re-election? Is it not the same president that told Christiane Amanpour that electricity is now stable in Nigeria? That is a bold-face lie on international New TV! And he said it comfortably and naturally. He even went further by saying ordinary citizens on the street of Lagos will attest to the improve power and urged CNN to conduct interviews with the people. There are too many lies this man has made in the past few years. I am just wondering how come barcanista thinks GEJ was not in his usual self LYING TO KERRY. I didn't take the sahara reporter message seriously until I read the part that said Abdulsallam was contacted about heading the ING but he not only rejected it but also reported to some people. I'll totally not ignore this Interim government thing. Now if they'll carry it out or if it'll work is a different story. Is it possible its Plan B, C, D or E I'll say very possible. Here are my reasons, we saw a leaked text from Okupe's aid that Buhari will never lead this country, in that text the guy even said they'll rather hand over to a military government. The guy definitely sounded very confident. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not sure anyone has come out to deny that text or deny the guy that wrote that text. The incident just died a natural death like every important issue in our beloved country.

The other reason too was Okupe's outburst, he too was confident and very vocal about how Buhari will never be president. It was very similar to the words that were used in the text. This shows that this is being discussed. Thee guys are going to use everything in their power to make sure Buhari doesn't get there and so far nothing is working and so for that reason I can't rule out the Interim Govt story
